This is a quick conceptual sketches, worked through pen and marker to provide an overview of potential design ideas (three options) on the same space. Conceptual sketches is an initial phase of design which, for me is the most challenging part of design process. During this phase, design is moulded and brought into a good shape. 9

According to my experience, clients understand better through perpective sketches. I have shared few of my hand sketches using medium such as: pen & markers. These are my favorite medium to work on a quick sketch from brainstorming ideas to produce finished handdrawings.

[1.7] Measured Drawings | AutoCADD Hanuman Dhoka palace site: Kathmandu, Nepal
Measured Drawing has been one of the important method to keep a record to preserve the historical architectural data in Nepal. The detail drawing done was of Hanuman Dhoksa palace, Kathmandu, Nepal (listed in UNESCO world heritage site.) It was done through detail measurement , taking photographs of an individual carvings and drafting those in Auto-CAD. During this phase, while studying the historical elements, I learned the rich history that has been engraved in the intricately carved architectural elements.

The notion of my design is to offer varying experiences within the site with the change in choreography through different form of sunken riverwalk. The walkway is intentionally sunken to prioritize surrounding landscape over people. The abandoned building is retained as an attraction, and maple tree grid is inspired from the city grid.

[2.2] Project: The Cut
SummerStudio | 2012 site : Birmingham, AL
“The Cut” is coined due to its nature of linear cut through the ground. The Concept of my proposal is to design a Projected Trail connecting Sloss furnace in the east and Railroad park in the west of the site. The projected trail is allowed to interact with the vehicular road that connects the site and the ground plane of “The Cut”. At the same time, people can experience the Industrial history of the city of Birmingham through the quality of material used in the trail and making legible the “Industrial Labyrinth” in the heart of Birmingham. Ecologically, the site is allowed to grow on its own with seasonal changes that enhance the experience of the linear space.

Among many opportunities as a Graduate Research Assistant, one of the opportunity I had was designing cover page and editing Master in Landscape Architecture (MLA) Brochure for our program at Auburn University. Here are some of the Test samples and the final design of MLAcover and back page that was approved and printed to distribute to new graduate students for the program. Trishuli River is one of the famous tourist (domestic and international) destination in Nepal. This place is famous for rafting and its natural beauty Hills, Himalayas and Trishuli River. The notion of this project is to design a recreation center for tourists, engaging and employing the neighboring settlers, who are living in poverty.

[3.1] Model Village Project at Dhoksan corridor site : Dhoksan, Nepal
Trekking route [primary]
Main goal of this project is to come up with a model village planning solution and guide the locals at Dhoksan in rebuilding their community after devastation caused by April 25th, 2015 earthquake. Through this project, we want to influence people to be independent and encourage them to rebuild their community themselves. Other objectives of this project that have been considered while designing are as follows: -To reinvigorate the place to create a healthy community and economic stability with preserving natural resources and vernacular architecture. - Design self-sustained community and address long term needs of locals. - Connecting nearby Communities and create opportunities. -To accentuate local people and culture to outer world. -Provide a platform for locals to train and guide them on utilizing those skills.

Nepal is known as an agricultural country and Tourism is the largest industry for foreign exchange and revenue. Hence, for long term sustainability, Agriculture and Tourism are taken as key factors for income generation in this village. Bhukampa Karkhana, also known as Earthquake factory will provide training on required skills like agriculture, construction, handicrafts to the locals. Before April 25th earthquake the settlement was all scattered, the first phase of new construction is proposed to be as a clustered settlement starting from North-East part of secondary trekking route.

Vision of Forest park
The notion of this proposal is to accept April 2015 earthquake as an opportunity to re-build a self-sustainable village. It is a long term evolving project which incorporates the seven components mentioned in the proposed site plan. The holistic vision of a role model village is portrayed by an illustrative graphics below.
