He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. - Psalm 46:10

COVID-19 Update The front cover picture is worth a thousand words. It tells a story of an abrupt ending to a great school year. When I look at this picture, the old lyrics from What a Wonderful World begin playing in my head. “I see friends shaking hands saying, ‘How do you do?’ They’re really saying, ‘I love you.’” As you think of our students, do pray for them as they grieve the loss of one of the most cherished months on campus, and as they finish up their courses online. Pray that they will be still and know that God is God. Looking forward, one of the greatest unknowns is how Covid-19 will affect our enrollment come fall. Please pray for a quick end to this pandemic and the lifting of restrictions so that we can welcome a good number of students back on campus in September. We know that many of you are in a tough spot economically, and it is hard to give extra these days. If the Lord so prompts, would you please consider making a special gift this spring? We could sure use your help. Jeremy Johnston Director of Operations

Taking the Long View I grew up on a farm in Southern Saskatchewan and have always loved the harvest, so this winter has been distressing for me to see the crops in the Peace Country covered in snow! Having grown up with the yearly cycle of sowing and reaping I have empathy for farmers when they are not able to bring in their harvest in the way that they had hoped. Although to my recollection my family never lost a crop to too much moisture, we did however lose a few along the way to too little moisture. Either scenario, too little harvest due to drought or not being able to take the crops off because of excessive moisture, tests the resolve of the farmer to plant again in the spring. And yet, some way, somehow, farmers everywhere will plant again. Why? Because farmers take the long view! Farmers believe that consistent sowing and planting will eventually produce a harvest. 3

Kim Cairns

It is this unshakeable belief in the harvest that will send them back into the fields to plant this spring. The apostle Paul had the long view in mind when he reflected upon his investment in the Corinthian church. “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth (1 Co 3:6-7). Paul reminds us that in the short view we plant and water, but in the long view God can multiply our seed. We all have seed, i.e., gifts, talents and resources, and if we hold onto to our seed that is all we have. But if we plant that seed, God can and will multiply it! As a school, PRBI is committed to the long view in our planting. Our investment in student lives is not about them receiving a diploma

or us simply filling their minds with knowledge. Our vision is to plant reproducing, followers of Christ in God’s field. In whatever years we have with a student, we desire to sow the life changing principles of God’s Word in their lives and then we will entrust them to God, who can multiply what has been invested. Approximately ten percent of our students will pursue vocational opportunities in churches, on mission fields, or in some other parachurch ministry. By far the majority will not do ministry as a paid vocation, instead they will invest what they have learned in the home and the marketplace. In both cases we take the long view in our sowing and planting because in due time there will be a harvest. I recently heard from a 2016 Ministry Studies graduate who illustrates this principle of the long view. The fall after her graduation, the Lord led her into a local church where she served on staff in children’s ministry. Sensing the Lord had something different for her, she took a short-term mission trip where she confirmed that the Lord was leading her to work in a crosscultural ministry. In the fall of 2018, she made her home overseas in a culturally diverse community as part of a church plant. Her passion as an athlete secured her a coaching position on a girls’ football team and she used this opportunity to share Christ with the ladies. Recently she wrote about one of her players who

made a decision for Christ, “The young woman who came to Christ wanted me to pray with her before our football game on Saturday, and she made an announcement to the team and we had 6 others join us for prayer. She’s also been very outspoken with her faith and is boldly sharing it with others.” Who knows what God will do with the investment we make in a student’s life. Your support of the college is not about one student nor about one year. In the long view it is about our God who can take our seed and multiply it into a harvest! I want to encourage you to see your support in PRBI as a long term investment that God can multiply in the local church, on a mission field, in a Bible camp, in our government, in business, in education, in Christian homes and even in a young gal on a football team. Who knows where God will multiply the seed from there! PRBI is committed to the long view. Will you join us in planting the seed in the kingdom of God and will you believe with us that God will turn that seed into a harvest?
