From the manager Mr.Spain Jingkaojai, PRC manager

Dear All, I have been to Singapore several times, but this time is quite different. After attending the Eagle Leadership Seminar this past week, it was quite an eye-opening occasion. Several leadership lessons were taught and shared. But the one that stood out the most to me was the Opening Speech of this event. We know how Singapore as a country and Singaporean people play a major role in Global Development. This 50 year-old country, a small island, has had an amazing story. Singapore has shown how a small country can take charge and lead the world in several aspects. Here are some of the topics and issues we heard, mainly about people. It all began with the People. People Management • Do we care enough to make our people grow? • We need to continue engage our people using a sustainable model. • As long as a leader keeps space for engagement open, he or she can lead. • People follow not because you are capable or perfect…they follow because they trust. • When people are engaged, they change…but more importantly, we change. • It is not only about doing, it is all about how you make your people feel. • Trust can only be created through fundamental engagement.

The Conclusion That is how we begin. Adding value brings us sustainable change. By beginning with caring for others and engaging with them, we will create trust with people. Then people will follow, allowing for the creation of sustainable leadership. These are the lessons I have learned from the Ministry of Manpower of Singapore. In his opening speech, he systematically and smoothly put these points so well. It was one of the most impressive speeches during this past week. Undeniably, we know that People are the most valuable asset to a country. At The Prince Royal’s College, the people here are all the stakeholders of P.R.C.’s campus, students, parents, teachers, staff, alumni, etc. We can truly apply the lessons from Singapore to P.R.C. and our personal lives. No matter what we do, who we are, we can’t deny the importance of engaging the People. We can make our lives successful or miserable based from how we deal with other people. It is common sense. It is fundamental. It is the truth. Yet is often ignored, misunderstood, or not implemented at all. And after all, it all begins with the People. Sincerely yours, Spain Jingkaojai School Manager

Chanasphorn Karnchanaphitak (11th Grade)

This is the first issue where I’m taking full responsibility for every process of the newspaper. It is challenging for me as an editor-in-chief because I have to assign work to all MAC crews, keep track of every task and make sure that our crews are on top of their assignments. We plan to create different issues with different styles in or-

der to attract more readers’ attention. But as always, we have provided interesting topics and news on current events at The Prince Royal’s College (PRC) including some entertainment to help students enjoy and relax. Even though I anticipate hard work ahead, I will do my best and never give up with despite the problems I may meet.

From the principal Dr. Sirinan Sriweraskul, PRC principal

This academic year of 2015, The Prince Royal’s College aims to accomplish a higher quality of education in order to get ready for the ASEAN community and the new global society of the 21st century. We have implemented new standards of education that emphasize integrating English in students' daily lives. PRC has done several things to prepare our students for the future. For example, we have adjusted every subject’s curriculum in every level to develop students in ways that conform to the important skills of the 21st century, which are 4Rs (Reading, Writing, Arithmetic and Reasoning) and 7Cs that are necessary life skills for the future: Critical thinking and problem solving Creativity and innovation Collaboration, teamwork and leadership Cross-cultural understanding Communication, information and media literacy Computing and media literacy Career and learning self-reliance •High-order thinking critical skills are promoted through different educational activities and through the development of a sufficient economy presentation called

“SE Model” which is one of our school’s subjects of research. This project builds critical thinking skills, collaboration skills, and presentation skills amongst the students. •Integrated English Program: IEP begins at the elementary level. This program emphasizes on English communication in every day life. •STEM Education (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) is taught in every level. In STEM, students are asked to analyze and produce a paper or project to improve their skills in problem solving and develop new innovations that will be useful to the community, society, and economy of Thailand. Aside from gaining useful hard skills, these activities also teach the students to be kind-hearted, generous, and sacrifice for others. We believe that in the academic year of 2015, all PRC students will be happy with educational changes at this school and how they extend to their lives outside of school. All that we would like to ask from the students is for them to be determined, industrious, and to cooperate with the teachers wholeheartedly. If students put these things into practice, success will undoubtedly meet them and our school. Just like the saying, “Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere”.

ACS, MC and PRC Meet By Worawaran Chaiwipassatorn and Juthamart Vacher (11th Grade)

On May 20, 2015, Anglo-Chinese School and Montford College joined at The Prince Royal’s College for a one-day activity to promote understanding and relationship between the schools and ASEAN as well. ACS is a junior private international school in Singapore. The representatives from PRC were the Gifted English students. The activities consisted of dancing, singing and quizzes. There was also an exchange of views about education systems and culture. Moreover, PRC had the opportunity to show the guests around the school. “The most amazing thing for me in Thailand is the food. Especially Pad-Thai. I totally love it. I hope to come to Thailand again with my family someday,” said Timothy James Chong, a student from ACS. When asked about the events and his thoughts on the experience, Chong said that he thought it was very insightful. At first he even thought that it was going to be an intense discussion, but it turned out to be really enjoyable because they could see the difference in cultures. “I am extremely proud that there is now a connection among these three schools of ASEAN members,” Chong said.

Boy studies abroad at PRC By Pancheewa Kalayanamitra (11th Grade) Mexican exchange student, Gerardo Torres Nochebuena, came to The Prince Royal’s College to study in 12th grade for one week on March 31 - April 4, 2015, Why did you choose Thailand? Because I think it is a perfect opportunity for learning cultures and also for discover a new world. How do you feel living in Thailand? At the beginning I had culture shock because it is a new world and everything is totally different for me. But actually I feel like I’ve been here for long time. I like when people respect each other and especially the behavior of people: always smiling, lovely and taking care of me. That’s touched my heart! What is the difference between Mexico and Thailand? I can make a long list about the difference between Mexico and Thailand because everything is different but the most interesting things are: - The ways that student pay respect to the teachers at school and focus on studying. Everybody studies in extra classes

in Thailand. When I was in Kamphaeng Phet, I felt lonely because everybody goes to study. That’s made me miss Mexico because we don’t take extra classes after school and we hang out together instead. - I feel admiration for Thai people’s love for the king and queen. It is amazing how they love them. - Shoes! It’s hard for me to take shoes off when I get in the classroom, house or other places. Normally, we don’t take our shoes off when we get inside of the building in Mexico. What do you think about The Prince Royal’s College? The Prince Royal’s College has awesome buildings and a great education system. The most important part for me in my short time here was the people that I met so many nice and lovely people. I felt very comfortable here. Last but not least, what do you want to say to readers? I was here for only four days and I want to say thank you so much to everybody for being nice to me. Thank you my classmates for being polite,

Gerardo Torres Nochebuena, PRC student from Mexico cute and lovely. I’m going to miss them so much. And also thank you to all of teachers for taking care of me. Finally, I want to say to everyone good luck and please visit. I’m waiting to see you in Mexico.

PRC puts more emphasis on conflagration - or fires - and earthquakes in order to be ready to encounter these unexpected situations. The day before the disaster drill took place, school administrators explained the disaster drill plan to PRC staff and students, but were not told the exact time when the siren would go off. The disaster drill was held on Thursday morning at approximately 9 a.m. PRC cooperated with Civil Protection Volunteers Chiang Mai and McCormick Hospital in preparing the disaster drill plan. According to the plan, when students heard the siren sound, first they had to compose themselves as the class leader led them to the assembly point, which is the school’s Ruby Field. The male president is Mr.Worakun Sithipochai, and female president is Ms. Neeraparng Laohaviraphap. A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way. June 11, 2015 was a special day for all students in Thailand. It was teacher appreciation day or "Wai Kru day". This is the day when students thank their teachers for the knowledge they have given them and wish them the best of luck through the year. It is normal to sing Wai Kru chants to the teachers. The song mainly references paying respect and giving thanks to teachers for everythings they have done for students. The Prince Royal's College held a ceremony for students to pay respect to their teachers. Alumni came back to participate in this ceremony as well. Each class participated in a competition including decorating boards, an English and Thai poetry contest, and decorating trays with pedestals as part of a contest. la fête nationale

Meine schöne Erfahrung in St.Peter Ording By Chinasiharat Pornpitchayanon (12th Grade)
