PRC in the1970s • 1974 PRC founded w/initial funding for 3 years from Jr. League • 1975 First Holiday Home Tour 1975 • 1975 First issue of Pres. In Print • 1976 PRC purchased 604 Julia 1976 • 1976 First Julia Jump to raise funds to match state grant to restore 604 Julia • 1977 First of four Heritage and Horizons exhibits on New Orleans neighborhoods
PRC in the 1980s • 1980 PRC moves in 604 Julia Street, first “modern” mixeduse in CBD • 1981 First Heritage Club lecture and reception • 1983 PRC completes survey and study of Warehouse District for preservation development with National Trust grant • 1984 World’s Fair Living In New Orleans exhibit in 1840 cottage moved to exhibit hall – first installation in the future Convention Center, 500,000 viewers • 1985 Successful campaign to save federal rehab credit • 1986 First Stained Glass Art in Sacred Places tour • 1988 Operation Comeback and Christmas in October launched 1988 in Lower Garden District
PRC in the 1990s • 1991 Christmas in October expands into other neighborhoods • 1993 OC starts acquiring and restoring houses outside of LGD, in Algiers Point, Irish Channel and Faubourg St. John • 1994 President’s Circle established • 1996 PRC acquires 923 Tchoupitoulas, capital campaign launched • 1999 Jazz house program and tours/African American Heritage Preservation program organized
PRC in the 2000s • 2000 PRC moves Julia and Magazine St. offices into 923 Tchoupitoulas • First Ladies In Red fundraiser 2001 • 2003 OC targets Holy Cross in partnership with Holy Cross Neighborhood Association • 2005 PRC initiates and secures passage of state homeowner rehab credit April • 2005 Major Katrina recovery effort launched in September, with support from NTHP, RT National, and donations and volunteers from around the country • 2006 First NY fundraising event January
