K-Play for Kinders!

(MON - FRI)

Grades K - 5 with Sandpiper Recreation Staff, and Director: Telisha Brent If you want to be a part of a fun after school club, then the SYC is for YOU! We will play games, sports, do crafts, learn life skills, watch movies, have special visitors, and more! Children will also have homework time during the program. Sandpiper Youth Club Staff are courteous, professional and most important...fun!

Come check us out! MAXIMUM ENROLLMENT 120, so sign up early! (Due to the growth of this program and the number of children, the discipline policy will be closely monitored for your child’s safety and enjoyment). Sandpiper Elementary Students have first priority. We will accommodate all Sandpiper School minimum days. Payment Plans are available, strict rules apply.

Sandpiper Kindergartners with Sandpiper Recreation Staff, and Director: Edna English Kindergarteners! Now is your chance to experience your OWN fun afterschool club! Play games, make crafts and projects, work together and get your energy out! This program will run prior to Sandpiper Youth Club from 12:30-3pm. Our experienced staff pick children up from class and walk them to Sandpiper Community Center. Come Play!

First Priority to Sandpiper School Students, children from neighboring schools must wait until August to join.

Monday-Friday or Tues/Thurs 12:30-3pm Kplay will now be offered 5 days per week from 12:30-3pm.

Kindergarteners who need additional care may also register for Sandpiper Youth Club which ends at 5:30pm.

AFTER SCHOOL BASKETBALL AT SANDPIPER Grades K-5 with Skyhawks Sports Academy Staff Skyhawks Sports After School Basketball breaks down this fun and exhilarating sport into fundamental skills that all athletes, no matter their skill level, need to succeed. Coaches will lead players through game-speed drills and exercises, focusing on ball handling, passing, shooting, defense, and rebounding. Scrimmages will be held regularly to let each player put his or her new skills into practice in real game situations. Having fun while developing a refined player who knows how to combine these skills is the goal of every Skyhawks Sports basketball program.

Participants should bring: Appropriate clothing, athletic shoes, water bottle.

Young Creators: Video Game Design Age 7-12

Mad Science: Energy, Forces, and Flight NEW with Mad Science of the Bay Area Grades 1-3 It’s a bird, it’s a plane - no - it’s Mad Science! Explore aerodynamics and the properties of air, and make your very own loop-flying stunt plane! Race down the electron freeway as we study “current” events! Check out the ooey-gooey science of Mad Mud! Learn about the incredible “Fun”-damental Forces as we study gravity, inertia and centripetal force! Discover what shapes make the world’s strongest buildings, and then build your own bridge! All this and more in this session of Mad Science!

Tech Builders App Design with Freshi Media NEW Age 9-13 The Freshi Media App Development Experience is a fun and exciting introduction for students to learn different aspects of App Design.

This basic course will utilize two computer applications: Inkscape and Game Salad. Each class will introduce a new App concept where the students create their own graphics and then program those graphics into their own mobile app test project. Emphasizing on exposing students to basic concepts, students will get a taste of what it is like designing and developing mobile Apps.

Young Creators: Video Game Design

Spanish & Mandarin Language with Berlitz Languages

Grades K-5 Learning a new language makes anything possible! Berlitz is excited to offer introductory Spanish and Mandarin courses at Sandpiper. This class is taught mostly in Spanish or Mandarin so kids are immersed in the language right from the start. Our communicative classes make learning fun with interactive games and engaging exercises. We use age-appropriate materials and all of our instructors are native speakers who have received extensive training in the Berlitz method and teaching kids. Come experience the fun and advantage of early language learning! Lab fee of $20 is for new students only.

Story Writing I & II NEW with Lekha School of Creative Writing Age 7-9 & 10-13 LEVEL I (Age 7-9): The five elements of story writing will be the focus during this session. Students will be introduced to a variety of fiction and nonfiction genres. Their work will be published on the schools e-zine Young Wordsmiths LEVEL II (Age 10-13):Students will progress into genre writing and learn how each genre has its own set of particular rules that drives character creation, setting, and plot. During the second half of the sessions they will choose one of their short stories and improve upon that. This story will be published in the school anthology.

Mandarin Tech Builders App Design

NEW

with Freshi Media Age 7-12 This is a game design class for all skill levels! Beginning students work in pairs and learn basic game design techniques to create a basic video game to share with family and friends. Advanced game designers work in pairs and learn new and interesting video game creation techniques. Beginning students learn how to create unique and interesting characters, get their characters moving and have their characters interact with a virtually designed game environment. Advanced game designers learn about platform game styles and learn how to incorporate popular video game themes into their game, such as action, strategy and rpg styles.

This class is fun for beginning and advanced students alike!

Children’s Drawing

with Young Rembrandts Staff Age 6-12 Back-to-school is in full swing at Young Rembrandts, as we present drawing lessons that encompass a fascinating world of color, pattern, and design. Students will strengthen their marker rendering skills as they draw a detailed gumball machine. A drawing of a sandwich will make them hunger for more art. We’ll travel back in time to the age of the pharaohs as we illustrate a decorative, Egyptian headdress. An illustration celebrating the fall season will introduce our colorists to warm and cool colors. All this and more await your child in a Young Rembrandts classroom! Sign up today!
