ARCHWAY GALLERY presents CONSTRUCTING THE DANCE, Featuring the Paintings and Prints of Kevin Cromwell Mar. 5 – Mar. 31, 2016 2305 Dunlavy St. Houston, TX 77006
The artist will be on hand to visit with guests during the exhibition opening reception on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the gallery; included will be an artist’s talk at 6:30 p.m.. International artist Kevin Cromwell’s collection of new works titled, Constructing the Dance, is about how the physical body, by directly expressing emotion and
intent, can bridge the gaps in language. As a painter, Cromwell communicates through the imagery on the canvas. In many ways this feels like he is choreographing a set of dancers who must bend and leap and twist to express the meaning of the piece. In this show Cromwell is opening up the conversation in regard to this development of expression through visual language, specifically
the language of the body-form. For more information, visit ArchwayGallery.com or call 713.522.2409

The Honoring Olivewoodd exhibit features a beautiful collection of photographs of the historic Olivewood Cemetery in Houston taken in 2011 by Kasey French, when she was 16 years old. French, who is currently a student at the University of Texas, captured the beauty and reverence of one of Houston¶s ¿rst $frican-$merican cemeteries, which pre-dates the end of slavery, through her photography. Since 1875, Olivewood Cemetery has been the ¿nal resting place of some of Houston¶s ¿rst $frican $merican citizens. Currently, the cemetery is abandoned and in need of care and restoration. $ group of volunteers has Moined forces as the 'escendants of Olivewood in an effort to raise funds and restore the sacred space. The exhibit will be accompanied by a special “Honoring Olivewood” book featuring French’s photographs. The book will be available for sale in the Museum’s gift shop and a portion of the proceeds will bene¿t the 'escendants of Olivewood. keymagazinehouston

Richmond Arms is a lively, oldfashioned pub, complete with seasonal brews, too many beers on tap to count and a bevy of Celtic accents ringing throughout the establishment. Even during the week, an evening here feels like an Irish beer advertisement, “Lots of British nationals” feel at home in this “authentic” Briargrove area pub that some claim is the closest thing to England “this side of the big pond”; “wood beams and red accents” and a “friendly sta” greet “serious game fans”, who come for the “great beer selection” and pub grub, plus darts and regular trivia nights.
The King’s Head Pub hails back to royal Britannia with a classic wood features, a large stone fireplace, a portrait of King Henry VIII. The pub features a full outdoor patio area, and over 5000 square feet of seating area with plenty of parking space. Serving authentic English food including Scotch eggs, Sausage rolls, and Ploughman’s Platters as well as great pizzas and other pub grub.
