Sells open. The Classen x 3040 mating has produced great results and this heifer may wind up the favorite of the flush. She still brings to the table the real-world traits that are making the 3040 daughters so popular but does so in a form and fashion that’s going to make her a standout in the showring. In terms the 3040 daughters that we have sold here at DPL, this female is among the neatest necked and sharpest fronted of the group. To go with this, she’s awesome at the ground and long sided with a super square hip and nice hind leg. As you can tell we feel like there’s a tremendous amount of upside in this female. Flush brother, Dal Porto Showdown W74, currently sits 2nd in the ROV Intermediate Bull Division standings. DAL PORTO SHOWDOWN W74 Flush brother to Lot 2B and maternal brother to Lot 2A

QUEEN SHOW & DONOR PROSPECT
LOT 13A
Lots 13A and 13B are direct daughters of the elite Angus donor J&J Queen 414, who has been proclaimed by many as Northern Improvement’s greatest daughter. This female is proven to generate unparalleled “look,” quality, structural soundness and power. Progeny of 414 have dominated the show circuit and include: the 2015 Oklahoma Youth Expo Supreme Champion Female, sired by First Class and shown by the Myers family, that was also a division winner in Denver; the 2015 American Royal Grand Champion MaineTainer Female , who was also Reserve Supreme Female at the 2015 OYE and Champion Maintainer at the 2015 National Western in Denver; the 2016 Fort Worth and 2015 NAILE and American Royal Grand Champion Percentage Simmental Bull, Stock Broker; the Reserve Grand Champion Percentage Bull at the 2012 Simmental Breeder’s Sweepstakes who was also named Grand Champion Percentage Bull at the 2012 Tulsa State Fair; plus other successful cattle. Additionally, as a result of a flush purchased by Walter Cattle Company and Steve Gilbert in the May 2007 J&J Sale, 414 is the dam of the 2010 Reserve National Champion Percentage Simmental Heifer, WLTR Lydia, and the 2010 National Western Stock Show Reserve Grand Champion Percentage Simmental Bull, WLTR Renegade, who was also named Grand Champion Percentage Bull at the 2010 American Royal. Recently, 1/2 Interest in PF First Class of 414 C528, a First Class sired son of 414 sold in the 2015 Griswold Classic Sale for $36,000 to Colby Warren of Alabama and another son “Panhandle” is an up-and-coming herd sire in the Griswold program. Another daughter of 414, Shultz Lookout 414 35a, was shown successfully by Brooke Adams being named: Grand Champion Angus Heifer Texas State Fair 2014, Dallas, TX; Grand Champion Angus Heifer West Texas State Fair 2014, Abilene, TX; Reserve Grand Champion Angus Heifer Stick’N for a Cure 2014, Sherman, TX; Reserve Grand Champion Angus Heifer Texas A&M Saddle and Sirloin Club Show 2014, Bryan, TX; Oklahoma Beef EXPO Reserve Grand Champion Angus Heifer 2013, Stillwater, OK; Grand Champion Angus Heifer and Supreme Heifer Cleveland County Spring Livestock Show 2013, Norman, Ok. She is also a full sister to the popular Circle M herd sire “Tejas”. Until their dispersion in May 2010, 414 served as the cornerstone donor for J&J Cattle Company and since that time she has continued to add to her legacy in the Price and Shultz programs. The top selling embryos from 414 in sales across the country are too numerous to mention but have placed progeny of 414 in top herds and multiple breeds. There has not been a more diverse and dominate donor than Queen 414 as is evident in the progeny of this unique event that exhibit the unparalleled quality and consistency 414 produces when mated to multiple sires from multiple breeds.

Brown Farms acquired the right to flush this powerful calving-ease daughter of Bismarck that stems from the branch of the famous Queen family that has been cultivated in the J&J and Oklahoma State herds in the 2019 Denim and Diamonds sale and chose Schilling’s R&L Confidential as the sire to produce this mating. Schilling’s R&L Confidential, was the private treaty acquisition of Pembrook Cattle Co. at the 2018 National Western Stock Show after being named Division 1 Champion. Since that time, Confidential has been one of the most talked about young Angus sires and has made quite an impression on everyone who has seen him, and that trend should continue once people start to see his progeny and they start to collect championship hardware. The dam of this mating, Queen 0168 was the $15,500 top-selling spring pair in the 2017 OSU Cowboy Classic Sale and has already proven her worth with a daughter by First Class, LF PCC Class Queen, selling for $25,750 in the recent Pembrook Cattle Co. Holiday Lights sale. This Bismarck daughter combines length of neck, udder quality, and a striking look with tremendous rib shape and volume that is further complimented by genetic predictors for CED and BW that rank among the breed’s elite at 1% and 4% respectively. Pregnancy is in registered Angus recipient, LRK Evergreen 3830 Reg.: 18209945

SALE MANAGER’S COMMENTS… Dear Angus Friends and Fellow Cattlemen,
Welcome to the 18th Annual “Denim and Diamonds” Sale and our 11th consecutive year “On the Hill” in Denver. This unique event is the result of the continued collective efforts of forward-thinking Angus seedstock producers. The breeders represented in the Denim and Diamonds Sale have again worked together toward the common goal of assembling an offering of elite Angus genetics that combine performance with excellent phenotype to become competitors at any level in our industry. The genetics and EPDs represented on both sides of these pedigrees are second to none, as is the visual quality of the live offering. The 2020 sale offering is especially strong, and quality is present from Lot 1 through Lot 46. As the name suggests, “Denim and Diamonds” is a unique blend of two segments of the Angus industry and has always focused on cattle that shine like a “DIAMOND” on the outside while maintaining the strong genetic fabric, or “DENIM” under the hide needed to excel in the Angus breed and meet all facets of the industry. The 2020 Denim and Diamonds Sale combines the influence of the breed’s freshest, most valuable, and proven performance families with the deepest and most elite show prospects and herd sires in the country. The embryo matings and heifer pregnancies feature cutting-edge genetics that are progeny of some of the most popular champions, herd sires and donors in the industry. The herd sire candidate, open show and donor prospects, bred heifers and the flush lots are from proven genetics and donors that are second to none. You will find the influence of the breed’s most proven and influential sires, both in and out of the show ring, are especially strong in this offering. The focus of this sale remains on quality, and you will find that, like a diamond, each lot is distinctive in its own way. Please evaluate your own situation and your breeding goals, and on Thursday, January 15 join us at 3:00 p.m. following the NWSS Junior Angus Show in our new display area on the west aisle of the Angus barn immediately outside the Beef Palace Auction Arena to view the cattle and enjoy refreshments, and then at 5:00 p.m. in the National Western Beef Palace Auction Arena to take advantage of the knowledge and cutting-edge efforts of these breeders and their programs. Whether you are seeking your next herd sire, donor dam or your next show-ring champion, you will find it among this exceptional offering. If I can be of assistance in any way, please let me know. Sincerely, Matt Sims Matt C. Sims Auction Inc.
