PARRISH ART MUSEUM Stands in Watermill, NY; emerging between the villages in a farmhouse vernacular reminiscent of other buildings found in the area but at an incongruous scale.

Herzog de Meuron envisioned a museum formed by clusters of pitched structures which would apply itself to the archetype of barns, small residential buildings and sheds which artists had previously converted to make use as their studios

a passageway the length of the building acts as a continuous connection between each of the gallery rooms
periodically, the central passage opens up into a large gallery space.
The gallery spaces of the design are clustered in a grid form towards the centre of the building the administrative space, cafE, terrace, and AUDITORIUM are placed at the ends of the linear structure.
