The 2019 City Moguls Runway Show
Dream Big, Create Value, Make an Impact.
City MOGULS Runway Show, an evening of inspiration, giving back, and honouring community moguls presented by MantellaCorporation, took place November 7th 2019, in Toronto. This fourth annual event is in celebration of Canadian entrepreneurs who are giving back to their community with their business and philanthropic efforts. The fabulous evening offestivities started in 2016, to shinea light on entrepreneurs who werestand-outs in their industry.
This year, over 600 radiant attendees were welcomed via red-carpet treatment into the gorgeous Toronto Event Centre adorned with chandeliers. Guests had the opportunity to pose at the step and repeat and browse the raffle table before entering the main stage.
As the runway show was getting started, the City MOGULS co-founding team Victoria Marshman, Dani Kagan, and Monica Gold were captivating as they introduced the 2019 City MOGULS. The co-founders are united in their quest to foster the next generation of entrepreneurs with education, events, and engaging content. The team has big plans for expansion in 2020, including interactive workshops and a broader digital presence.
The City MOGULS event is not only about honouring outstanding entrepreneurs and Canadian fashion; it is also about supporting community and local charities. This year, the runway show was in support of Covenant House, Toronto’s largest agency servicing at-risk, homeless and trafficked youth. Proceeds from the evening go to Covenant House, helping to better the lives of young people every day. In the presentation, two powerful statements made by Covenant House staff stood out,
“We’re here, we see you, and we’re not walking away.” and “You aren’t damaged and wrong, things that have happened to you are damaged and wrong.”
Each year, the MOGULS strut their stuff on the runway after a short video honouring their story. This year, the theme of the night was Dreamer, which each MOGUL personifies to the letter. To be an entrepreneur, you have to dream big, give your all, and believe in the impossible. The 2019 MOGULS fit the bill. They walked the runway wearing Canadian designers, Hilary MacMillan, Andrew Coimbra, Tara Rivas, Christopher Bates, Surmesur, Zane Barlas, Mani Jassal, and Lesley Hampton, in groups of six to aptly get their moment of recognition after years of dedication and hard work.
