Great lakes Volleyball Center Aurora, IL

For all things volleyball, look no further than Great Lakes Volleyball Center in Aurora, one of the largest volleyball facilities in the Midwest and home to the Sports Performance Volleyball Club. Offering sports performance and development and competition workshops for both coaches and players, Great Lakes Volleyball Center is the country’s largest camp and clinic program, with thousands of athletes competing each year.

This 225,000-square-foot athletic center features nine indoor tennis courts, four basketball courts suitable for multi-use and two indoor tracks— 1/6-mile on the upper level and 1/8-mile on the lower level. Vaughan has hosted the Butterfly Aurora Cup, a USA-sanctioned table tennis tournament with 38 segmented courts that featured contestants from across the globe.

The premier arena in Bloomington for sports and concerts, this venue can hold up to 8,000 for a concert and 7,242 for basketball and features 24 private suites and two party suites that can host up to 50 people.

As the crown jewel of Illinois State Athletics, Redbird Arena is used by the men and women’s basketball teams as well as the women’s volleyball team. The multipurpose facility can hold up to 10,200 enthusiastic fans and is a raucous environment each game day.

Shirk Center at Illinois Wesleyan University • Bloomington-Normal, IL

The Shirk Center is a multipurpose athletic, recreation and wellness complex that contains facilities for basketball, volleyball, track and tennis. The facility seats 2,400 with room for an additional 400 spectators. Other incredible features include a 200-meter, six-lane indoor track, two batting cages and four courts for basketball, tennis, volleyball and badminton.

Activities & Recreation Center (ARC) Champaign-Urbana, IL

The ARC at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana is a 340,000-square-foot on-campus rec center with the capacity to host nearly any indoor sport. The space has four gymnasiums that can be converted into 12 basketball courts, 16 volleyball courts, three squash courts or 12 racquetball courts. Teams can take advantage of the extensive workout equipment and spaces along with its 35-foot climbing wall and one-fifth mile indoor track.

State Farm Center Champaign-Urbana, IL

No stranger to large events, the State Farm Center has 15,500 permanent seats with a max capacity of 16,500 spectators. Its flexible floor space means it’s just as ready to have a Broadway show or rock concert as it is a Fighting Illini basketball game. The arena has hosted the 2019 National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball tournaments, the Illinois High School Individual Wrestling State Championships and much more.

offers 25,000 square feet of world-class climbing terrain with auto belays, top ropes, and lead climbing up to 52 ft. tall as well as an expansive bouldering area. Plus a variety of fitness, yoga and youth programming on-site. Recently hosted USA Climbing Youth National Championships.

Located in Palatine, Harper College offers a field house, sports center and fitness center. The field house is equipped with four courts for basketball, pickleball, volleyball, or badminton and a suspended 1/8-mile jogging track. Locker and training rooms are available. The sport center is a 110,000 square-foot building that includes four basketball courts, six volleyball courts, a gymnastics center and more.

Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel • Chicago Northwest, IL

This 100,000-square-foot column-free convention center has the capability to be configured into multiple floor plans to accommodate a wide range of sporting events. Located 12 miles from O’Hare International Airport, the convention center offers free on-site parking and is seamlessly connected to 500 guest rooms and suites at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel.

Ho-Chunk Southland Center Chicago Southland, IL

The Southland Center, a Ho-Chunk Nation Enterprise, houses over 41,000 square feet of portable wood court for events of all kinds. This newly installed floor is the largest continuous portable wood court floor in the Western Hemisphere and the second largest in the world, with space that accommodates 10 basketball and 14 volleyball courts under one roof. Southland Center is also attractive to event organizers for gymnastics, cheer and other activities.

Lincolnway Special Recreation Association • Chicago Southland, IL

The Lincolnway Special Recreation Association (LWSRA), located in New Lenox, provides adaptive and special recreation services for individuals with disabilities. The facility features four multipurpose rooms, a learning kitchen, gymnasium with a wheelchair-friendly floor, a therapeutic garden and more. Their newest features include a sensory room and a universal design playground.

Roma Sports Club

Chicago Southland, IL

Roma Sports Club in Frankfort offers state-of-the-art practice facilities with one of the largest turf areas within a 20-mile radius. The club features wood courts for basketball, volleyball and futsal, two indoor multipurpose fields, a lounge area with full concessions, wifi, monitors to watch your child practice and play from the lounge area and free parking. It also has two gyms for additional play, leisure or practice.

Wintrust Sports Complex

Chicago Southland, IL

The Wintrust Sports Complex at Bedford Park is a 116,000-square-foot venue that hosts the Midwest’s best in sports, events and recreation. The complex offers eight high school hardwood basketball courts and one championship court. On-site amenities include a Redemption Arcade, Laser Tag/Laser Frenzy, Esports Gaming Room, flexible meeting and event spaces, bar and lounge with full kitchen service and free parking.

The Northern Illinois University Convocation Center, in DeKalb County, IL consists of 215,000 square feet, including more than 45,000 square feet of floor space, and boasts a seating capacity of 10,000.

Northern Illinois University Convocation Center • DeKalb County, IL

The Convocation Center in DeKalb, a 10,000-seat facility, hosts more than 200 events each year, including concerts, family shows, theatrical productions and more along with NIU Division I athletic events. The center consists of 215,000 square feet, including more than 45,000 square feet of floor space, and boasts a seating capacity of 10,000. The $36 million arena brought a new focus on the west campus as a center for living and learning.

Ice Arenas Dupage County, IL

DuPage has over a dozen sheets of ice for tournaments and competitions among several different facilities including Edge Ice Arena, Seven Bridges Ice Arena, Center Ice of DuPage, Darien Sportsplex and Addison Ice Arena. Canlan ICE Sports Elgin Area, IL

Train and compete on any one of three state-of-the-art NHL-size rinks, complete with access to Jerry’s Pro Shops for the newest gear. Canlan’s recently renovated its space to include large-screen televisions, a patio, tables and fireplaces for memorable downtime experiences.

Spartan Event Center Elgin Area, IL

The Spartan Event Center is a multipurpose athletic space that features one of the best basketball facilities in the region. As part of the Elgin Community College campus, the Spartan Event Center includes three NCAA basketball courts, three NCAA volleyball courts and converts into two tennis courts. The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville campus is home to an array of venues, including the Morris University Center as well as the Vadalabene Center. The latter features an indoor hardwood surface and a seating capacity over 4,000 that hosts basketball, volleyball and wrestling.

JHS Bowl Jacksonville, IL

Located in the Jenkins Education Complex on the former MacMurray College campus, this indoor facility includes two basketball courts that can also accommodate volleyball, floor hockey along with other variety of indoor sports.

Canlan Sports in Libertyville Lake County, IL

When it comes to premier sporting event facilities in Lake County, Libertyville’s Canlan Sports is no exception. Its Indoor Event Center houses eight multi-purpose courts, two turf fields, a 29-foot climbing mountain and conference rooms capable of holding up to 120 people. There is also a fitness center available for training and other needs.

Glacier Ice Arena in Vernon Hills Lake County, IL

UW Health Sports Factory Rockford, IL

This multipurpose indoor sports facility spotlights 108,000 square feet of space—96,000 of which is hard court surface. As one of the largest facilities in the Midwest, UW Health Sports Factory comprises eight basketball courts that convert to 16 volleyball courts, 16 wrestling mats and accommodations for other indoor sports. With a maximum capacity of 3,700 spectators, the facility spotlights north and south courts and a champions court with seating for up to 400 people.

The Bank of Springfield Center is a world-class, multi-use facility with 44,000 square feet of column-free space, 21,000 square feet of meeting space and seating to accommodate 7,700 spectators. Nelson Center Springfield, IL

The Nelson Center is home to two indoor ice rinks open yearround, eight locker rooms and two concession areas as well as the Nelson Center Pool, a seasonal outdoor aquatic facility. As the Nelson Center contains the only two indoor ice rinks within a 60-mile radius, the complex hosts a wide range of ice-related programs, events and activities. Allen County War Memorial Coliseum Fort Wayne, IN

With the capability to hold 13,000 spectators for basketball games and 10,480 for hockey, this arena has hosted many major sporting events since opening in 1952. Most recently, the arena has been the host destination for 2019 through 2026 NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championships. The Grand Park Events Center is an indoor sports facility that covers 377,000 square feet and features three full-size synthetic turf fields, a 45,000-square-foot warmup area, four locker rooms and fully equipped conference rooms. The facility also offers concessions and a full-service sports pub with viewing suites. The mezzanine is made up of 30,000 square feet for spectators to view the action from above the fields. The building is home to the Indiana Soccer Association and Indiana Fire.

Work is now underway on the Mishawaka Fieldhouse, a new indoor sports facility and the first of its size in the area. Construction is expected to take 12 to 14 months, with operations beginning in the third quarter of 2024.
