TIPS FROM THE PROS Featuring - ELEVEN COURSES CATERING & EVENT CO. TOP 8 TIPS FOR SELECTING A CATERING

from Exec. Chef/Owner of Eleven Courses Catering, Jim Benson. 1. Does your caterer have first hand experience in various types of cuisine. Each year we take a culinary tour to a different spot on the globe and come back to the kitchen with fresh perspectives and it keeps our menus authentic. 2. Good chemistry is a must! You want to walk away from your initial meeting excited to build your dream day together! Trust your intuition. 3. Are you getting a team. Ask your caterer if they provide the bride and groom with their own chef, sous chef and event manager from the time of contract. Love continuity! 4. When talking to caterers make sure they can handle the scope of your job and really care about and understand your vision. Laid back and rustic, shabby chic, or super formal? 5. Your caterer should be an expert in allergies and dietary restrictions. Make sure they are making items from scratch and can prepare separate batches to accommodate various guest needs. 6. Look for engaging menus that will stimulate conversation and excitement amongst your guests and a menu design process that allows you to customize every aspect of your menu to uniquely reflect you and your fiancĂŠ. 7. Fresh food, cooked on site is key to incredible wedding food. 8. Feel confident that your caterer understands that your wedding is not only about the food, but, as much about the flow, management and execution of your big day!

SETTING THE TONE emotion and individuality As your guests are being seated, the prelude sets the mood. The processional march introduces you and your attendants, and the recessional shouts pure joy. Organists and harpists are still popular choices. Some churches may require that you use their organist, or not play secular music. You may wish to include another soloist such as a vocalist, flautist, trumpeter, violinist or pianist. Be sure to contact your musicians early to ensure the date. Consider the space of your wedding hall. Even limited room allows you to use recordings of your favorite selections. If a close friend or relative is providing your wedding music, a gift is appropriate.

PLEASE BE SEATED placecards and seating charts Seating charts can help guests seat themselves without using those elegant, hard-to-read place cards employed since the turn of the century and can be as elegant as place cards if done properly. A prominently displayed graphic seating plan, typically 24x36, greets guests and quickly dispatches them to their designated places. The names and table numbers are presented in classic calligraphic style and the chart can be designed in a manner appropriate to the wedding’s style. Seating charts are gaining popularity with “wedding contributors whose job it is to laboriously hand-write a hundred or more guest’s names on the traditional place cards, saving time and in some cases, money.

TIPS FROM THE PROS

Featuring - CROWN ROSE ESTATE

PLANNING A WEDDING. . . DO IT YOURSELF OR NOT??

Is it worth trying to save money when planning your wedding. . . by doing it all yourself. . . .or should you hire a pro to make your wedding a beautiful memory? When you are planning for the big event, you will need to think smart, so that the memory of that day is not spoiled by the “should haves. Preparing way ahead of time and delegating responsibilities on the day of the wedding, to a chosen few is a wise choice. The time of year, day of the week and time of day all factor into what your costs will amount to, so check with the venues that you desire to see when their less expensive times are. Check out licensed caterers, the local restaurants about their catering services and for a more unusual flair, ethnic ones for their prices and menus. One of the major expenses at a wedding reception is alcohol. Some locations allow you to bring your own. You can also just serve beer and wine, which is less expensive or choose not to serve alcohol, except Champagne for the bridal toast. When shopping for flowers you have a wide variety to choose from you can find a florist that will work within your budget, keeping in mind that sometimes, less is more and simplicity is elegance. Small seasonal potted plants make nice centerpieces for the tables and double as a gift for a guest at each table. The best way to save is before the event and not on the wedding day. You have made a big investment and want to enjoy it with your friends and family. Leave it to the people that you have hired to take care of the last details so you can enjoy your day. By hiring the professionals on your wedding day, you will make better use of your money and give you peace of mind.

Jessica met Brook when she came home one weekend to get together with her friend who just got engaged. When she walked into the bar Brook saw her immediately. It took him about an hour to get up the nerve to approach Jessica. Finally she saw him walking toward her and it was like a movie. The crowd parted and she saw only him. It was love at first sight. He introduced himself and they spent the entire night talking. They went out the next day and the rest is history! Brook proposed on their second anniversary. Brook planned the night out. Jessica was getting ready and he asked her to come downstairs. When she did he scooted a chair over to the exact spot where they had their first kiss. He then proceeded to take out little trinkets and mementos from their relationship. The first was a Star Wars figure since their first date was to see Star Wars in the theatre. He walked her through a timeline of their relationship. He got down on one knee and asked “Will you marry me?” Both started crying and of course Jessica said “Yes” .

TIPS FROM THE PROS

Featuring - Brittland Estates

As a bride you may not want to think about bad weather on your wedding day but when planning an outdoor event you must have a Plan B. You’ll need to discuss these options with your venue, event designer and rental company. The venue can tell you what has been done in the past and what scenarios have worked best. In case of rain you may have the option of tenting your ceremony area or going under the reception tent for your ceremony. When you meet with the rental company be sure to reserve sidewalls for the tent. Reserve a second tent just in case the weather takes a turn for the worse on your big day and you want to keep the ceremony and reception area separate. A week before your event you can look at the weather and make the call to keep them or take them off your rental order. You should also ask your venue if they have a back up generator in case of a power outage. You’ll want to revisit your parking situation in case there is a lot of rain. Make sure guests won’t be stuck in the mud. Maybe offer a shuttle or hire a valet service if needed. Don’t just plan for rain and wind. Also, think of heat. Make sure your guests are comfortable. Maybe have the ceremony under a shaded area, provide cool refreshments at ceremony, or fans for the guests. Remember any changes you make should be relayed to all of your vendors in case they need to make adjustments as well.

TIPS FROM THE PROS

Featuring - ROUGE CATERING

In the catering industry there is no standard for quality of the delivered product. Unlike most industries where one needs to obtain a diploma/certificate or experience to guarantee that their product or service is up to a minimum standard, in catering one is only required to successfully complete a six hour course on food safety! As a result, a $75 meal from two caterers can be drastically different! Because of this, finding a caterer to whom you can entrust your event can be difficult.

Given that the caterer has a great deal of control on the outcome of the event, we’ve included some tips to help in the selection process. A caterer deserves your trust if… 1. The catering outfit is large enough to have the resources and equipment available to deliver the job under any circumstances. 2. The caterer has recent and reputable references.. 3. Their food is fresh! Demand on site food preparation and cooking, especially for proteins. 4. The catering facility passes an inspection, by you, unannounced. This will give you a snap shot of their work and their ability to manage your job. 5. Their transport equipment is up to code. Be wary if the caterer rents equipment; this equipment is not as reliable as owned equipment. If a rental oven is not functioning properly, your tenderloin may end up a steak tartar. 6. Sanitation is at their forefront. 7. They offer free menu tastings 8. They are conscious of allergy and food sensitivities. Our industry is still very primitive on this issue. BRADLEY

IMA

GE SP

9. You receive one all-inclusive per person price for the event. The contract should clearly spell out what is included (and everything on the table should be) and what is not included, but necessary (rentals/flowers/cake/servers.)

HO TO

G

RA Y PH

IDEO &V

10. They have lucrative contracts. Be wary of contracts that are too long and have many disclaimers. Remember that most caterers start with very small contracts and as they experience problems they add clauses. Never sign off on the fact that the caterer is not responsible for damage at the event site or for honesty issues. The caterer doesn’t necessarily need to be responsible for honesty issues but shouldn’t outright remove themselves from the responsibility. 11. They work within YOUR budget. The caterer should give you their best menu for your price. It’s much easier for you to compare than to get involved in price analysis by item. Remember, if a price seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Raven and Tracy met on a trip to Miami for Memorial

Day weekend. After spending time together the rest of the week they began a long distance relationship. Tracy lived in Atlanta and Raven lived in DC. After a vacation to the Bahamas Raven and Tracy decided to hang out in Miami for a few days. They went to eat at TGIFriday’s where they met. The manager took a picture of them and said “wait, there’s something else”. Tracy then dropped down on one knee and proposed. When Raven looked up the entire restaurant was watching with excitement.

The most memorable part of the wedding day for

Raven was when Tracy presented her with her wedding gift…… her dream car. It’s a day she will never forget.

TIPS FROM THE PROS Featuring - JULIE ST. MARIE

To Taste or Not to Taste? That is the question that many brides face when selecting the menu for their Wedding Reception. The food is one of the most important aspects of your big day. Whether you have chosen a caterer to prepare the food, or your venue provides it, a tasting is very important. Certain venues may provide several “buffet style” tastings several times a year. You will have the opportunity to taste the food they offer before making a selection for your reception. Caterers will generally provide a private tasting with a more limited selection process. Some may charge a fee and limit the number of people that can attend the tasting and others may not offer a tasting until you sign a contract. Keep a few things in mind when you attend your tasting: 1. Limit the amount of people that go with you! Everyone has an opinion and the only one that counts is you and the groom. The tasting has a purpose, so it’s best to leave your entourage behind. 2. Be honest. If you have an opportunity to meet with the Chef ask questions about how the food will be prepared – on site or in their kitchen and transported. 3. It’s best to taste your suggested menu so that you can make any substitutions or change based on the tasting. 4. Come prepared – take notes and pictures which will be helpful in making final decisions. 5. Be flexible. Food usually consumes the largest portion of a wedding budget and seasonal or specialty items may not always fit. Be willing to make adjustments and accept suggestions for the Chef. Your Wedding Day is important and the food you offer is often what most of your guests remember. Take advantage of your tasting so that you can sample the reception food, check out how the food is presented, and make any changes to stay on budget. Establish good rapport and communicate with your caterer to ensure a stress free reception.

Gabby and Marc met in Middle School. They actually filmed a commercial together and began dating in college where they lived in the same freshman dorm. Gabby looked stunning in her gown from Betsy Robinson Bridal and Marc looked dapper in his Tuxedo House tuxedo that Gabby’s father Scott owns and operates. The Proposal: Marc made a movie trailer and arranged to have it played at Landmark Harbour East Theatre in front of the entire crowd. Tip from the Bride: “Take your time. Don’t rush to make decisions because these are big decisions that you will look back on for a lifetime. So don’t succumb to the pressure to get it all done ASAP.”

LISTENING PLEASURE CEREMONY AND RECEPTION

Ceremonial music should suit the tone of the ceremony; romantic, sincere or something unique to you and your fiancĂŠ. Vocalists, instrumentalists, soloists, choral or congregational singing are usually very appropriate. An evening reception will be livelier with a pianist or other instrumentalists during dinner and a live band or DJ later for dancing into the night. To find the right musicians, call a number of booking agents who represent the kind of entertainment you want. Determine how many performers you need and if the ones you are hearing are the same ones that will play at your wedding. Find out if you can make requests, or if they play only preset arrangements. What will the performers wear? Will it be in keeping with the flavor of your reception? How often, and for how long, do they break? Are you charged a flat fee or an hourly rate? Can the length of time they play be extended, or is it carved in stone? Make notes on all these important items, but the most important question is do you really like this group? Do you want to share them with others? Your good feelings about the group are probably the most important qualifier of all. Book your entertainment as early as possible. The best will be booked well in advance, up to a year is not unusual. Finally, two weeks to a month before the wedding, confirm the date, location, time of set up, and when the performance should begin.

Congratulations to wedding planner Mozelle Scott-Bey of An Xquisite Affair. Mozelle and her team have been selected as our next Follow The Bride series winners. Our lucky couple is Diamond and Welton, or as our groom is known to all his friends, Mickey. Premier Bride invites you to join in as we share in all the details of our on line series “Follow the Bride” Follow us on line and on video as we take this journey with Diamond and Mickey

An Xquisite Affair recognizes the various factors that need to be considered when planning your special day and are instrumental in providing professional comprehensive guidance. While providing impeccable service, creative planning and special attention to the most intricate of details, their team works diligently to assure that every wedding is a unique and joyful experience. Let’s Follow The Bride! They casually strolled into the jewelry store one afternoon in search of a Pandora charm and happened to stumble upon engagement rings. Unbeknownst to Diamond, Mickey purchased her ring that day! Sneaky sneaky! And more sneaky. Mickey had to sneak the ring box out of the store without Diamond seeing it. So what did he do? He put the box in his pants and walked out as the stores sales associates all laughed at his quick thinking. Destination…Vegas Baby Our bride and groom talked about how romantic Paris, France seemed and how’d its Diamond’s dream vacation. Diamond had a business meeting in Vegas. Mickey knew, Paris in Vegas was THE location to pop the question. Mickey got down on one knew…. Diamond said YES!!!!!!!!!! Now the planning begins and our Planner, Mozelle Scott-Bey and her team will detail for us how it’s done and done right! Follow this bride from “Yes” to “I Do” and “Everything in Between”

Alex and Chase met at a bar in Annapolis where Chase worked.

Chase proposed to Alex on the deck of their house one hot summer night a few days before her birthday. We toasted to my favorite wine he had chilled, Veuve Cliquot. What a nice surprise to add to getting proposed to. That showed me he took time and cared for this special moment I will forever remember. The best part of the day for Alex and Chase was spending it with family and friends. Lots of fun was had by everyone. Alex also loved her dress. She loved wearing a wedding dress!

LUXURY COACHES alternate transportation

Our goal is to be a leading luxury transportation provider. To continue to grow while providing unmatched service, customer satisfaction and an unparalleled work environment within the industry.

410.479.8470 geneslimoserv.com 88

PREMIER BRIDE 2015

Usually when you think wedding transportation, you think limousine. Limousine service has been a bridal standard for years and still continues to be a wonderful option. Depending on the location and size of your wedding, however, you may choose the newest alternative in wedding transportation--a luxury coach. Comfortable, mobile and spacious, it’s the ultimate in luxury. A luxury coach has a lot more going for it than luxury, though. It’s the perfect solution to a ceremony site without a changing room. You and your attendants can enjoy your time together as you get ready in the plush surroundings. After the ceremony the bridal party can enjoy a private celebration with the bride and groom on the way to the reception. Parking is another obstacle that the luxury coach easily overcomes. If the only downside to your dream reception is the price your guests will pay to park, eliminate the problem. Transport them from the ceremony to the reception in a passenger coach. These coaches generally seat 21-49 passengers. If you hire more than one transport you can accommodate those guests who need to leave at an early hour. Coaches are also a great solution for remote locations or those with limited access. As do the majority of limousine companies, passenger and luxury coach companies require a minimum number of hours. The size and type of coach determine the hourly rate, which is generally comparable to that of a limousine.

A new style of art is being seen at receptions called “live painting where an artist will come to your wedding, and paint your live event. The paintings are original, and are painted while the event is going on, and makes a great heirloom for the new couple. This can be given as a gift, or the couple can purchase this themselves. This is a creative way to get some new artwork on the walls of the new home that they create together. In addition to live painting, you can provide the artist with a photograph from the wedding, and they can create a painting out of your wedding pictures. This is a great keepsake, and will look great in your home!

TIPS FROM THE PROS

Featuring - Bradley Images When meeting with a potential wedding photographer, most couples know to ask questions about style, various packages and pricing. Although pricing is usually at the forefront of your thoughts, it is the value of the photography that matters most. The images captured at your wedding will be in your family for generations. Many studios have multiple photographers working for them. Ideally, you should choose a company with a great reputation. It is always best to meet with the owner and make sure this is someone who listens to you and will ensure that your special day runs smoothly. Ask to see the inside photos, not just the highlight images seen in the portfolios. The value of your photography is the entire set of images in the final product. Most importantly, ask if every event is archived. Asking this question does not seem important now, but if something were to happen to your album several years down the road, having the reassurance that your photos are safe will give you peace of mind and provide further indication that your photographer cares about you and your wedding.

TIPS FROM THE PROS Featuring - PHOTOGRAPHY BY TRE’ LYNN Start with the end in mind. Before your wedding day arrives give some thought to what you want to see when you look at your images and album after the wedding. Plan accordingly for details and special shots you would like to have captured. Incorporate your own personal style and your wedding theme as you prepare a list of desired images to provide to your wedding photographer. A photographer will capture all of the important details and special moments, but it is up to you to provide those for them. So, if you are a traditional bride who wants to look back at your wedding images and see “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”, provide that. If you want to see pictures that reflect your fairy tale themed wedding, provide that. Also, make sure you make the not so obvious details known to your photographer before your wedding day. What about the group and family photos that you will want to display after the wedding. Inform all of the people involved in those photos that they will need to be available at a specific time. Once you’ve done the planning and put together the details, enjoy yourselves on your wedding day and you will be certain to love your wedding photos for years to come.

THE FIRST DANCE the customary practice It is traditional for the newlyweds to share the first dance after the first course and before the entree is served. During the newlywed’s first dance it is customary for the father to cut in for his dance with the bride, as the groom dances with the mother of the bride. At this time the maid of honor and best man may be invited to join those on the dance floor. The groom then dances with his mother and the bride with the father of the groom. After the couple has danced with both sets of parents and their honor attendants, the master of ceremonies should invite the other members of the wedding party onto the dance floor, then extend the invitation to all the guests.

TIPS FROM THE PROS Featuring - SCOTT-BEY PHOTOGRAPHY The simplest of things enhance the beauty of a photo. For example, let’s take a visit to the location where the bride is getting dressed. Make up is impeccable, hair exquisite, dress perfect, jewels unbelievable, bridesmaids and maid of honor looking terrific. Time to make this day come alive by documenting the pre-wedding shots. But where are the bouquets? They should be delivered where the bride and bridesmaids are getting ready for her big day. Flowers often add just the right amount of color to create the perfect accent and make the picture “pop”. It’s just that little something extra that makes a massive difference. Even when not carrying your flowers, having them in the background can create a romantic effect. A great tip from ScottBey Photography to you is to always remember this one simple detail, “if you are having pictures taken prior to the wedding, be sure to have your flowers delivered to where you are getting dressed so that your photographer can add them to your memories.” PREMIER BRIDE 2015

TIPS FROM THE PROS Featuring - GMS PHOTO & VIDEO (Robert Diffenderfer) Cinematic Wedding Videos – This is NOT your mothers wedding video!!! You have decided that you don’t want video because you will only watch it once and put it away and if you watch it again you will just fast forward to the good parts. After a while it will just collect dust and may not even be on a format that you can watch it on in the future (i.e. VHS Tape)! Yes that was true 5-10 years ago! There is a new breed of filmmakers taking the once boring wedding videos and turning them into cinematic works of art that will quickly become your most cherished memorabilia. These 45 – 90 minutes films include some preparation, most of the ceremony, and tastefully edited down to only the highlights of the reception. Don’t have video regret…There have been several online surveys that asked recently married brides what were the things they regretted most. At the top of every list was “not getting a wedding video”. Photography is great for capturing moments but video captures life. 118

TIPS FROM THE PROS

Featuring - Maverick Productions

So often when we meet couples to discuss their wedding day, we get asked questions that pertain to the format that we record in, the type of equipment, and other questions that seem to come from wedding planning websites that provide information that really doesn’t help determine why a couple should book a particular person or company. They may have good intentions, but the questions that should be asked, as below, will help the couple ensure that they have found a perfect match, resulting in the best possible experience before, during, and after the wedding. 1. How will you tell our story of the wedding? 2. How do I know our movie will reflect our personality and show everything? 3. How will my movie sound? 4. How do you deal with lighting and how can it benefit my wedding movie? 5. How long does it take to get the finished movie? 6. May I see movie samples, same as what another couple has received? 7. Why are your services more (or less) expensive than other companies? 8. Why should I hire you to document my wedding? As more people enter the wedding cinema industry, there is a significant difference in a well-meaning hobbyist who is more interested in having fun and making quick money than someone who is dedicated to his or her company and artistic craft, that will ultimately become your most cherished possession of your wedding later on in life.

TIPS FROM THE PROS Featuring - AN XQUISITE AFFAIR Being attentive to even the smallest of details is extremely important when it comes to planning your wedding. Most often, it is not the obvious details that are neglected, but instead the simple things that go unnoticed until too late. 3 Simple Tips for Summer Outdoors Weddings 1) Don’t leave your guests uncomfortably melting – have your ushers give guests ice-cold bottles of water as they are seated and consider printing your wedding program on a fan so that guests may cool themselves. 2) Have a backup plan What will you do if it rains? The ideal outdoor wedding location should have an indoor location waiting just in case. Many brides and grooms opt to have their ceremony outside and reception inside. Moving everything inside may not be what you want but it is an alternative to soggy muddy feet, wet hair and clothes, an unhappy bride, groom and guest. 3) Decorations One of the bonuses of an outdoor wedding is the natural beauty around you, lessening your need to decorate. You may want to consider using simple decorations such an arch or trellis as a main focus point for the ceremony which frames the bride and groom as they say their vows; chair decorations, and perhaps strings of lights or lanterns in the trees. THE MAGIC OF CANDLELIGHT dramatic and romantic A dramatic addition to a late afternoon or evening wedding is created with the romantic glow of candles. Candles can be lit as guests arrive, just before the mother of the bride is seated, or by honored guests and ushers during the ceremony. Bridesmaids can also carry candles, lit or unlit, along with their bouquets. Some couples enhance their vows by lighting candles while they are at the altar, and by passing the flame between themselves, their families and the clergy. Check for regulations prohibiting candles at the wedding location of your choice. Appropriate candles are longburning as well as dripless, but the choice of color is yours.

For example, are you having a band or a dj? Will it be a plated or stationed meal? Do you want a seating area under the tent? Are you going to have a Photo booth? These may require more room for all to be comfortable and enjoy the day. Share this important information with your rental company as they want to guide you towards the perfect setting for you and your guests. All of that will make a difference in the size of the tent, there is nothing worse than renting a tent and it not being big enough and your guests feel like they are sitting on each other’s laps. TIPS FROM THE PROS Featuring - MY FLOWER BOX Once the question is asked, the date has been set, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and determine a budget necessary to achieve your wedding day vision. Be mindful that those you plan to ask to be a part of your big day, whether as your guest or the wedding party standing by your side, directly impacts the budget needed. A wedding guest list of 200 people, equates to 20 centerpieces ranging from a $95 starting point for a low centerpiece, and $165 starting point for an elevated centerpiece. Additionally, a wedding party of 8 bridesmaids, and 8 groomsman, translates into 9 bouquets, and 9 boutonnières. Bridal bouquets typically start at $195, bridesmaids at $85, and the average boutonnière costs $18. Other aspects with large cost variations from ceremony to cake flowers to delivery and changeover cost. An easy rule of thumb when planning your floral budget figure is to use a range of 8-10% of your overall wedding budget.

Tip from the Bride: “Make sure you watch the groom’s face and make eye contact with him while you walk down the aisle.”

PREMIER BRIDE 2015

Of course you’ll remember the beauty and elegance of your flowers through pictures and memories - but consider going one step further and freeze drying your flowers for a special keepsake. Almost all flowers can be preserved. Some Orchids, Spider mums and some greenery don’t freeze-dry as well as other flowers and in some cases, your florist might suggest replacing flowers with silk replicas to make sure your bouquet holds up well. Flowers are more successfully preserved if they are in the hands of a freeze-dry specialist within 1-2 days. In the meantime, give your bouquet a clean cut, fresh water and store them in the refrigerator away from fruits and vegetables.

a traditional bridal shower The bridal shower is a celebrated tradition whose beneficiary is you! Shower themes can range from traditional housewares and gourmet kitchen parties to personal showers that shout sex, fun and friendship, with laughs and lingerie. It may be helpful to visit a lingerie store beforehand to try on several items and determine the most comfortable and flattering styles and sizes. The guest list for the shower is up to the hostess. Invite friends you know well enough to also invite to your wedding. Whatever happens at your bridal shower, keep your sense of humor and enjoy the attention and thought that went into planning it.

Erika and Stanley met at a gathering her sister suggested

she come to meet Stanley. Stanley proposed in April of 2012. They went to a birthday dinner for Stanley with some close friends and Erika’s sisters. Stanley was giving a thank you speech and asked Erika to stand with him and he got on one knee and proposed. Erika was totally surprised. Erika and Stanley traveled to the Rivera Maya, Mexico and Hong Kong for their honeymoon. Erika and Stanley’s top three tips for future brides: -Hire a wedding planner even if your venue includes a coordinator. -Don’t go to anyone new a week before your wedding. -Once you have chosen your dream team(vendors) put your full trust in them.

TIPS FROM THE PROS

PREMIER BRIDE 2015

Channel “Premier Bride MD. DC. VA, & DE”

Featuring - Intrigue Design & Decor

Planning a wedding is no easy task, having to worry about how every detail will play off of each other is the hardest part. When meeting with a florist always have these four tips in mind; color scheme, preference of flowers, centerpieces, and personal touch. First, identify your color scheme; focus on two to three focal colors. Once those are identified then you are able to relax and view all the different options of flowers. Before sitting down with a florist be sure you know which flowers you like and which you don’t. This way the designing process will run smoothly. Keep in mind what types of centerpieces you would like; centerpieces are a crucial part in making your ceremony and reception areas flow effortlessly. A mixture of high and lows are often used for venues that offer elevated ceiling or have a ballroom style. Low looks and groupings are often associated with quaint and bed and breakfast type of venues. Adding a personal touch to your flowers is an easy way of connecting all the pieces. While flowers already provide the delicate reminder of the theme, having your bouquet wrapped with a sentimental wrapping brings new meaning to the flowers. Have fun with the planning process, don’t stress the little things. By preparing what you know you want in advance, everything else will fall into place.

TIPS FROM THE PROS Featuring - AN EXTRAORDINAR LIMOUSINE Finding the right transportation company is as important as finding the right gown, cake or florist. Depending on the time of year you are getting married, you should have your transportation locked down within 6 months of your wedding date. While May is a very popular wedding month, September and October have become just as popular so waiting to pick the right company may prove to be difficult because the date you are looking for could be booked. As you call around and receive price quotes research the company as you would any other wedding vendor. Check to confirm that your limo service is listed with The Public Service Commission. Take the time to visit those companies and see what type of equipment they offer. Do they have the latest models of limousines? Do they have enough shuttle buses to transport your out of town wedding guests? What type of wedding packages do they offer?

Venue - The Winery at Elk Manor | elkmanor.com Photography - Asya Photography Entertainment - Eddie Bruce Orchestra Dress - The Wedding Shoppe Cynthia and Scott met while they were counselors at a day camp. They grew up minutes from each other but didn’t meet until they worked together at the day camp. They were introduced in the parking lot one day after camp. They exchanged phone numbers and went on their first date to the Oakmont Pub. Scott proposed after creating a scrapbook with ticket stubs, pictures, notes, and other small trinkets he collected (including the receipt from their first date). When Cynthia reached the last page there was a picture of both of them and at the top it said ”I think we have done well so far”. Cynthia turned to see Scott on one knee taking a box from his pocket and telling her how much he would like to close this chapter and begin a new one. Scott asked Cynthia to marry him and she said “yes”. Cynthia and Scott went to Hawaii for their honeymoon. They visited Kauai and Maui. They enjoyed a helicopter tour, delicious food, zip lining, scuba diving, and lots of sun and relaxation.

Leah and Jay met at Jay’s sister’s wedding. They began a

long distance relationship. Jay proposed to Leah on August 8, 2013 as they walked on the beach while visiting Jay’s parent’s beach house in Bethany Beach. Leah said the best thing about the wedding day was the ceremony. It was an amazing feeling to be surrounded by their closest family and friends as they shared their wedding vows. There is no way to describe the joy that they felt during that moment. That’s what the whole day is about! Leah and Jay traveled to Punta Cana, DR for their honeymoon.
