Vacation memories We will be featuring summertime, Independence Day, and vacation memories in an upcoming issue of Community Matters. If you have a story to tell about any of these topics, or if you just want to tell the world what you love about living in your senior living community, we want to share your story. If you’ve got a story to share, contact Health Care Lifestyle Coordinator Loretta Cutler, and your story could be featured in an upcoming edition of Community Matters.

Did you know May is Older Americans Month? This national observation, led by the Administration for Community Living (ACL) is an effort to “recognize older Americans for their contributions and provide them with information to help them stay healthy and active. ACL designed the 2017 OAM theme, Age Out Loud, to give aging a new voice—one that reflects what today’s older adults have to say.” (From oam.acl.gov) We’re celebrating Older Americans Month through the joy of music! Join us at one or all of these events: SENIORS, continued on page 2

May 5: Cinco De Mayo Party - Pedro Castillo will help us celebrate with his tradition Spanish style music as well as a pinata in the morning. May 10: Vince and Kitty will return with their great singing voices for Happy Hour in the Glen May 22: Aberdeen choir will once again entertain us with their spring concert. May 26: Celebration Quartet will take us down memory lane with their barbershop style music of the roaring 20’s. This is a must see group. In addition to celebrating Older American’s Month, we will be celebrating National Nursing Home Week.

Our medical director, Dr. Kapoor, got a “check-up” from our St. Louis Cardinals Mascot, Fredbird. He paid us a visit opening week and brought much laughter and team spirit to staff, residents and many family members. Staff and residents were served a baseball luncheon with hotdogs, nachos and all the trimmings. The entire community wore their red to show support for our team. Baseball balloons and decorations filled the halls as well as a great spirit!
