An open heart and mind, along with the willingness to explore new possibilities, is exactly what brought Ed Reynolds and Dolores Patton together. Ed and his first wife moved to Aberdeen Village in February 2013. In 2015, she succumbed to Alzheimer’s.

Aegis serves the whole Aberdeen Village community from independent living to our short-term rehabilitation and even outpatient services. The Aegis team is comprised of physical, occupational and speech therapists who have many years of experience in senior living rehabilitation services.

It was also 2015 when Dolores moved to Aberdeen Village after the passing of her husband. One evening Dolores and a few of her friends were putting a puzzle together, and she invited Ed to join in. After that

Angie Taylor, director of rehabilitation services, has been in the industry for 20 years. The Aegis team brings a wealth of knowledge in aquatics therapy, lymphedema treatment, urinary incontinence programs and cognitive programming and testing based on the Allen Cognitive Levels. Aegis also has brought a Nautilus program to Aberdeen Village that is known as “Freedom through Functionality.” The program is specialized for the senior population. Since the arrival of Aegis to Aberdeen Village we have seen many positive therapy outcomes.

Aegis uses a variety of point-based functional measures. They range from total assistance to minimal assistance to total independence. With the hard work of our nursing staff and Aegis therapy staff, the residents who have used the PATH® (Post Acute to Home) program have improved their functional measure scores by 54 percent. Not only are Aberdeen Village and Aegis Therapies redefining therapy for seniors, we are enhancing quality of life that allows our residents to be independent longer.
