God’s good world By Bill Bowles, chaplain
Lowell Smith says ‘thank you’ for all of our mask donations.
Life at Presbyterian Manor still active during COVID-19
Making sure our residents can communicate with their loved ones has been a big task the last couple of months. We have written letters, video chatted, played games through windows and waved to them from fifth floor windows. Sometimes it is a challenge to make it all work out, but it is always a lot of fun. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through these difficult times, and we will continue to look for new ways to make sure our residents are staying in contact with the people who matter to them the most. Our wonderful life enrichment team has been really thinking outside the box to come up with new ideas to provide fun activities for our residents to do while remaining socially distant. Maintaining social distance while having fun can be a challenge though. We have done scavenger hunts, planted flowers, completed puzzles and played games, bingo, and much, much more.
The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer. — First Timothy, 4:1-5 Key ideas: The Spirit of Christ and demon spirits Confusing the surface and the depths The scope of Christian salvation Action steps: Do something special for yourself that will allow you to celebrate being alive. Prayer: Lord, keep me sober in my life and faith today, but please deliver me from stuffiness. ◆

“The staff are very good with [my loved one], and I just appreciate that they seem genuinely concerned about [my loved one’s] care. [My loved one’s] health is important. I’ve been happy with my experience there. It’s a good choice.” The graphic highlights some of the survey results. All scores are given on a 5-point scale, with 5 being the highest score and 1 the lowest score. Between March 2019
