Christ our salvation By Bill Bowles, chaplain

They had Peter and John brought before them and began to question them: “By what power or what name did you do this?” Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them:

Employee Braylee Wynn, CNA, honored with integrity award

Congratulations to CNA Braylee Wynn for receiving an award from the American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing (AAPACN)! “It’s an integrity award, and I guess they (staff) value me a lot! I’m super excited that they think of me like that. I love my job. It’s the best place I’ve ever worked. I’m kind of shocked, excited and honored,” said Braylee. Staff who nominated Braylee for the award shared this passage from the application form: While working in several different departments over the years, it has helped Braylee gain extra knowledge by knowing residents in different atmospheres and capacities. She handles even the most difficult residents with tender love and care, displaying empathy and genuine concern. WYNN - continued on page 3

“Rulers and elders of the people! If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame and are being asked how he was healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. Jesus is ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” — Acts 4:7-12 New International Version (NIV) Key ideas: • Trying to stop Christianity • Acting in His name • An apologetic defense DEVOTION - continued on page 2

Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor Art is Ageless® exhibit and reception features senior artists Local senior artists will be celebrated March 30 through April 3 at Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor as the community hosts its annual Art is Ageless® exhibit and observes the 40th anniversary of the Art is Ageless® program. Art is Ageless is a trademarked program of PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America). The program offers senior artists the opportunity to share and display their artwork and reaffirms the agelessness of human creativity. “It’s inspiring to see the beautiful pieces these seniors have created,” said Sean Page, marketing director. “The joy it brings to them and others is wonderful, and that’s something we want to celebrate and share with the entire Arkansas City

community.” The first Art is Ageless calendar was published in 1981, featuring art from Presbyterian Manor community residents. Since then, the program has expanded to include a juried art competition open to all seniors age 65 and older. The Art is Ageless exhibit will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 30 through April 3 and feature works from local artists. The public is welcome to visit the community to view the exhibit of acrylics, oils, photography and various other mediums, ranging from amateur to professional levels. Winning pieces at the community level move on to a masterpiece level judging to determine which pieces are featured in the annual calendar

and note cards. In addition to the exhibit, Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor will honor local senior artists during a reception at the community from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 2. For more information about Art is Ageless, visit ArtIsAgeless.org. ◆

Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor to host 26th annual event This year’s Dick Metz Memorial Golf Classic benefiting the Good Samaritan Program at Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor will be held May 2 at Great Life Golf and Fitness in Arkansas City.

The tournament was named for the late Arkansas City native, Richard “Dick” C. Metz, who was a leading golf pro in the 1930s and 1940s. He won 14 professional victories and was inducted into the Kansas Golf Hall of Fame in 1991. After Metz’ death, a golf tournament named for him was started to benefit the Arkansas City Good Samaritan Program, which provides assistance for Presbyterian Manor residents who have outlived their financial resources. Last year’s tournament raised more than $17,000. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at Great Life Golf and Fitness in Arkansas City. The Karl Faidley Memorial Ball Drop is at 10:15

“The award makes me eligible for a scholarship which would help me further my education. I could really use that,” said Braylee. Braylee is working on her prerequisites to be a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Change to compliance hotline

PMMA’s corporate compliance program provides a mechanism for the organization to guard against misconduct by employees, service partners, volunteers and others who are regularly in PMMA’s communities in compliance with federal and state laws governing providers of health care services. It is everyone’s responsibility to report suspected misconduct without fear of retaliation or retribution. PMMA uses a third party provider to manage the compliance hotline to ensure anonymity of those who report suspected misconduct. This company recently made upgrades to its system, which have changed the way people can report suspected misconduct, offering both telephone and online options. The new toll free number is 1-844-973-0049. A new web portal offers the ability to make a report via the internet at www.pmma. ethicspoint.com. ◆
