Ice Cream social draws friends to campus On Friday, July 26, we had our annual Ice Cream Social and Dessert Bar. It was a beautiful evening with more than 130 residents, family and friends sharing snacks and stories in our Oberg Garden.

A big shout out to Johnny Graham for building the planters and to Robin and Terry Thurlow for the donation to build them. u

In the weeks prior to the event a lot of work and improvements had been made to the garden including tearing out shrubs around our fountain so it could better be enjoyed, adding rock and other maintenance. This summer we added new raised planters to both our front and back garden areas for the residents who enjoy gardening and tending to plants.

Residents, families and friends enjoy an evening of ice cream, desserts and fun at the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor Ice Cream Social. Like us on Facebook to stay updated on news and events.

Oberg Garden got some love and attention this summer with new rock around the monument and throughout the landscape.

Shrubs were removed from around the fountain in the Oberg Garden, allowing residents to enjoy it more easily.

Works by local winners are automatically entered into a masterpiece level competition with winning art from 16 other PMMA communities. More than 190 entries were received for this year’s masterpiece competition. The winners are featured in the Art is Ageless calendar with pull-out postcards and greeting cards. “We are thrilled to have three of our Clay Center residents featured this year,” said Christi Rice, marketing director. “Art is Ageless is an amazing program that supports the interests and talents of people 65 and older in the arts.” Art is Ageless, open exclusively to people age 65 and older, is a copyrighted program of PMMA. For the competition, works must have been completed in the past five years. PMMA’s Art is Ageless program encourages Clay Center Presbyterian Manor residents and other area seniors to express their creativity through its annual competition, as well as art classes, musical and dramatic events, educational opportunities and current events discussions throughout the year. Started in 1980, Art is Ageless is an extension of PMMA’s wellness programs, which focus on mental, physical, social and spiritual health. Residents and friends of PMMA’s Art is Ageless program are proving that art, in any form, is an ageless ambition. u

Memorial contributes to outdoor fun Clay Center Presbyterian Manor would like to send a most sincere thank you to the family of Emery Eklund. With the memorial funds we received, we are creating a wonderful new outdoor space for our residents to enjoy on the patio on the west side of the building.

The new patio furniture provides a shady spot to enjoy a glass of lemonade in the afternoon.

With the funds, beautiful new patio furniture was purchased for the front patio. Please stop by, grab a coffee or lemonade from our new drink station inside, and go out onto the patio for a shaded visit with someone special. u
