Aberdeen Village celebrates Founder’s Day in style!

Aberdeen Village celebrated our Founder's Day with a Corn Hole contest that led to an afternoon full of fun and laughter.

We had teams consisting of two residents and two staff members competing for the best score. A total of 17 teams competed for the top three positions to be able to take home a trophy for the day and they were all cheering for each other.

This was a terrific time for all our staff and residents to join together to have a great time of togetherness; a great way to celebrate our Founder's Day! Alice Kalb would have been mighty happy to see her promise to make a community full of happy people who are taken care of by a caring staff.

New resident Karen Dewey is fitting right in at Aberdeen Village

On October 15th of last year, Karen Dewey moved into her new home. After spending many years in California, the Shawnee, Kan. native had moved back to the area with her husband. Following his passing in 2015, Dewey knew she’d eventually need to find a place where she could be around others. Thankfully, a good friend worked at Aberdeen Village and told her to check it out. The rest, as they say, is history.

Karen, who spent her career in the banking and credit union industries, is enjoying everything from Bingo to socializing with her new friends over dinner.

“This is where your friends become your family,” she said.

Dewey moved to California in 1970 with her first husband, a soldier from Ft. Riley and remained there until 2004. She and her second husband (who she married in Las Vegas!) spent nearly 40 years together prior to his passing.

Please join us in welcoming Karen Dewey to the Aberdeen Village family! u
