Mother’s Day Tea On Saturday May 11, we had our first Mother’s Day tea party. Life Enrichment Director Kristen Pedigo invited residents and their families and friends to a 2 p.m. tea party where she had hats, white gloves and a special activity. When the weather decided to give us a break from the rain, we were able to take two groups of residents to visit the Clay County Museum located at 518 Lincoln Avenue in Clay Center. The museum has two floors of artifacts that are staying very true to its mission “to bring together those people interested in history and the history of Clay County, Kansas.” We had a tour and were treated to a special surprise. One of the exhibits had an old sewing machine that had been donated by resident Russell James. How fun it was to share that special moment watching Russell and the other residents see the piece he had donated years and years ago as part of the museum tour. u

Mother’s Day tea – continued from page 1 “When I was young my mom used to ….” Some of the answers were: “read to us every night and change her voice for the different characters.” “Make me dust the furniture,” “pin up my hair every Saturday night during ‘Gun Smoke’ and cover the pin curls with a stretchy thing I wore to bed so that the curls would be perfect for Sunday School and church the next morning,” “let me sit on her lap and rub my back,” and “let me help her in her flower and vegetable gardens.”

“My mom makes the best ….” Some answers were: “cream pies,” “bread pudding,” “homemade dinner rolls,” “Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls,” “clothes - she made all of my clothes,” and “potato salad.” “My favorite memory of my mom/grandma is ....” Some answers were: “her rock solid faith,” “that we always had good meals,” “her making a 7-layer Jello salad that took hours,” “family reunions with

Summer social July 26 Residents, family, friends, and community members, please join us for our annual Ice Cream Social and Dessert Bar Friday, July 26 from 5:307 p.m. on the Presbyterian Manor lawn. We provide the ice cream and toppings and ask anyone who comes to please bring their favorite dessert and recipe to share. u

This company will periodically contact the people we serve via telephone to conduct an interview regarding their impression of our service. We use this feedback as a tool to continually improve our quality of care and enhance our relationships. When you are contacted to participate in the survey, they will always identify themselves specifically as being with Pinnacle Quality Insight. All state and federal confidentiality laws are met in Pinnacle’s service. From these surveys, we know our assisted living residents give our activities high marks (4.7 out of 5). Our environmental services team also gets high marks for keeing our campus clean! We greatly value your opinions and encourage you to be frank and honest when contacted.
