Fort Scott PresbyterianVillage thanks citizens for their support
Tell us!
We will be featuring employees who have continued their education with Presbyterian Manors of MidAmerica’s help in an upcoming issue of Community Matters. If you have a story to tell about an employee you know is continuing their education, or if you just want to tell the world what you love about living in your senior living community, we want to share your story. If you’ve got a story to share, contact Ginger Nance and your story could be featured in an upcoming edition of Community Matters.
A chicken dinner with live and silent auctions May 17 raised approximately $27,000 for Fort Scott Presbyterian Village. The senior living community’s Good Samaritan Program, which benefits residents who have outlived their financial resources, will receive proceeds from the event.

“We sold 615 Chicken Annie’s dinners for the event, which is slightly more than last year. More than 100 people signed up for bidding cards,” said Executive Director Ginger Nance. “We are so grateful for all the bidders, diners, donors, sponsors and volunteers who make this great event possible each year.”
“We really had something for everyone,” Nance said. “Plenty of tools and outdoor equipment of all sizes for the men, and lots of beautiful glassware, furniture, antiques and household finds for the women.”

Nance said she believes Presbyterian Village’s mission is what brings people out to support the event.
“Believing in the Christian mission of the Presbyterian Village and wanting to help make a positive difference in the lives of our seniors in need is what it’s all about,” she said. “People understand that every dollar they spend for the auction or the chance drawing makes a direct, positive impact on the lives of others.” This year’s chance drawing was for
two trips to Santa Fe, N.M. Carolyn Munsell won the first one, and John Forshee won the second trip. Forshee donated it back to Presbyterian Village to be used in an employee drawing. “My wife and I have seen the commitment that each of the staff members have for the people who live here,” Forshee said. “We wanted to do something for them to show them how much we appreciate their willingness to serve the mission.”
