Get to know our Aegis Therapies® team Local Lawrence artists among Art is Ageless® masterpiece level winners Two winning artists in Lawrence Presbyterian Manor’s annual Art is Ageless® juried competition will be featured in the 2019 Art is Ageless Calendar produced by Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America. “Welcome,” a painting by Charlotte Neese and “Meditation,” a sculpture by Linda Troxel will appear in the calendar when it is released this fall. Works by local winners are automatically entered into a masterpiece level competition with winning art from 16 other PMMA communities. More than 180 entries were received for this year’s masterpiece competition. The winners are featured in the Art is Ageless calendar and greeting cards. “We are inspired by the talent in our senior community, and are thrilled we have the opportunity to share it and inspire others through the Art is Ageless calendar and greeting cards,” said Angela Fonseca, marketing director, WINNERS, continued on page 3

As we celebrate Rehabilitation Week September 16 to 22, we want to recognize the team members at Aegis Therapies® who are responsible for providing life-changing services for our residents. Carmen Crandall, physical therapy assistant Carmen has been part of the Lawrence Presbyterian Manor therapy team since January 1, 2018. She has more than 30 years of experience. Carmen has always loved working in long-term care and home health because of the people she gets to work with and their interesting stories. In her spare time, Carmen serves in many volunteer positions at church, and loves to antique shop, golf, visit local wineries and help Carmen Crandall out on her family farm in Doniphan county. She is very involved in the county 4-H program, is currently the president of the county extension executive program, and serves on the K-State Research and Extension State Advisory Council. Carmen has two grown children, a new grandchild and a hedgehog named Cupcake. Amanda Ames, occupational therapist Amanda joined Aegis Therapies one year ago, and spends her days on the therapy team evaluating and treating residents in short-term rehab and longterm care. She assesses their impairments affecting daily activities and quality of life, and provides an individualized treatment plan to address those impairments and other functional deficits in order Amanda Ames to increase a resident’s independence. and increasing their independence. When she’s not at the office, Amanda enjoys spending time with family and friends, and being active by either taking hikes or exercising at the gym. She is the oldest of four children and adopted a threeyear-old golden retriever/German shepherd mix earlier this year. Malory Meier, certified occupational therapy assistant/therapy coordinator For the past year and a half, Malory has been working as the therapy coordinator for Aegis Therapies. She has a variety of responsibilities that include treating patients, and scheduling and collaborating with team members.

Ever since she started college, Malory has wanted to work with seniors Once she found occupational therapy, she knew it was Malory Meier right for her. Malory recently got married. Jessica Clutter, physical therapist As the newest member of the therapy team, Jessica joined Aegis Therapies two months ago, but brings more than Jessica Clutter six years of experience with her to the job. As the supervising physical therapist, Jessica develops all of the care plans, assesses patients during care and discharges patients once they’ve reached their goals. She enjoys working with the therapy team and developing relationships with each patient, as well as seeing each patient succeed and meet their goals.

In her spare time, Jessica enjoys spending time with family, going to church, running half marathons and doing anything outdoors. She and her husband, Chris, have a fouryear-old son and two Havanese dogs. Trisha Bahr, certified physical therapy assistant Trisha Bahr is the Aegis Therapies program director. She provides clinical support to the team for patient identification, Trisha Bahr education, and training on new processes. She completes audits and manages the operational side of business to ensure they’re providing the best services possible within a reasonable budget. Her favorite part of the job is watching the therapists grow as clinicians and becoming part of their patients’ lives. In her free time, Trisha enjoys watching her daughters participate in activities and sports, leading two Girl Scout troops, playing softball and spending time with her husband of 12 years.
