Esparza takes on another new role Since coming to Manor of the Plains in 2017, Tehren Esparza has worn numerous hats, ranging from day-shift nurse to Tehren Esparza assisted living/home health director. Recently, Tehren transitioned into yet another new role—case manager. “My current responsibilities are to assist with Medicare Part A ‘skilled’ admissions,” said Tehren. “This includes establishing rapport with the resident and their family, and working with both nursing and therapy on the resident’s end goal, which is usually going home.” Prior to joining the staff at Manor of the Plains, Tehren worked in retirement communities across the state, and has come to appreciate the work environment and residentfocused approach at Manor of the Plains. “I enjoy our teamwork and the dedication our staff has toward our residents,” said Tehren. Away from work, Tehren also is busy. She and her husband of three years are proud parents of a five-monthold daughter.

the development of programs and entertainment for the community. “For some, it may be an evening out at a special restaurant, and for others, it may be a sing-along or bingo. The activities staff works hard to make sure there are a variety of programs and activities to choose from,” Lisa said. Just a few weeks ago, Amanda Delgado joined the staff as assisted living/home health director. In her new role, she helps prepare staff to perform their jobs accurately, and works with residents and family members to ensure they’re receiving the proper care. “I enjoy working with the residents and making sure they have everything they need to live a happy life here,” Amanda said. Some of Lisa’s happiest moments around the assisted living neighborhood have been on Halloween and around Christmas. For Halloween, the community room is transformed into a haunted house, and employees and residents bring Amanda Delgado their children and grandchildren trick or treating. At Christmas, the

community turns into a winter wonderland with 14 decorated Christmas trees, several Nativity scenes, a five-foot Santa Claus that plays music and dances, and a 12foot tall Christmas Tree. For Amanda, her favorite activity has been the gospel concert Manor of the Plains recently hosted for the Dodge City community. “The smiles on the residents’ faces, and their joy and excitement at the concert, warmed my heart. I love that our community has many activities and outings that they can enjoy,” Amanda said. Life in the assisted living neighborhood has proven to be life-changing for residents and staff alike. “The residents have so much to share. I learn something new every day about them, and myself. They have helped me to understand that we all have challenges in life, but that does not stop us from learning how to overcome those challenges,” Lisa said. And while she’s only been here a few weeks, Amanda has quickly seen how Manor of the Plains is all about compassion and family. “We are a big family here,” Amanda said. “The staff here genuinely care for the residents, and we all strive to make each and every resident happy.” Like us on Facebook
