Volunteerism ... and you We will focus on volunteerism in an upcoming issue of Community Matters. Where have you volunteered your time? Why do you volunteer? What are the benefits for you? If you’ve got a story to share, contact Executive Director Heather Pilkinton and your story could be featured in an upcoming edition of Community Matters.
Get to Know: Danica Loftin Administrative Services Director Danica Loftin is a new face at Topeka Presbyterian Manor, but she certainly isn’t new to her profession. “I’ve only been here since November, but I’ve been in the medical field for the last 22 years with extensive focus on patient care coordination, administration, billing and durable medical equipment.” Already, Danica is well acclimated to her new role and is enjoying her position. “I like being part of the solution when a challenge arises,” she said. “I enjoy DANICA, continued on page 2

Art is Ageless® call for entries underway
Topeka Presbyterian Manor has issued a call for entries for the Art is Welcome to the Topeka Presbyterian Ageless juried Manor family, Danica! exhibit to be held March 24. Entries of artistic works will be accepted from any area artist who is 65 years of age or older to exhibit and/or compete for an opportunity to be featured in the 2018 Art is Ageless calendar. When she’s not spending time helping residents and staff, you’ll find Danica with her husband and 10-year-old-son and cuddling their two dogs, Tank and Bella.
Artists may choose to enter the exhibit only. For the competition, works are to have been completed in the past five years (since January 2012). There are nine categories, as well as designations of amateur or professional. Works to be entered for judging need to be at Presbyterian Manor by March 20.
The Art is Ageless program encourages Presbyterian Manor residents and other area seniors to express their creativity through the annual competition, as well as art classes, musical and dramatic events, educational opportunities and current events discussions throughout the year. Local competition winners will join winners from 16 other Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America communities to be judged at the systemwide level. Entry forms and information can be picked up at Topeka Presbyterian Manor or by contacting Danica Loftin at 785-272-6510 or dloftin@pmma.org. Or go online to ArtIsAgeless.org to view rules, download an entry form or enter online.
