PresenTense has provided the Leichtag Foundation important exposure, connections and insight into the incredible grassroots social enterprise movement that is helping shape the future of Jerusalem.

It’s been a pleasure to work with the Jerusalem team as they foster young leaders from a cross-section of Jerusalem’s diverse population.

Since its founding in 2005, innovation, social entrepreneurship and improving the community through Jewish values have always been at the center of PresenTense’s mission. This past year was no exception, as PresenTense saw a record increase in programs and engaged community members. Our numbers affirm that “it takes a community to build entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurship builds communities.”

In 2012 PresenTense experienced its most significant leadership shift, with the exit of its co-founders and the entrance of new staff in both the US and Israel.

PresenTense sees this as an opportunity for further growth and innovation, and is excited for continued impact in 2013.

Participating in the Yazamim Jerusalem Fellowship was a significant turning point in my life. The fellowship gave me the tools and the strength to bring my venture to life, support that I wouldn’t have received in any other place, and brought me into an amazing community that supports its entrepreneurs throughout their journeys.

PresenTense 2012 Annual Report

Community Entrepreneur Partnership (CEP) >> Since the launch of the PresenTense Global Institute in Jerusalem in 2007 and the Community Entrepreneur Partnership (CEP) in Boston in 2009, PresenTense has expanded to nine other cities, engaging 296 fellows who have launched 282 ventures in the community.

This past year, PresenTense ran 12 fellowships, expanding from seven programs in the previous year, and nearly doubling its number of fellow alumni and volunteer community members engaged.

By the conclusion of the 2012-2013 program year, PresenTense will have an alumni base of over 400 fellows, in addition to thousands of volunteer alumni.

PTSchool >> In addition to the CEP program, PresenTense’s PTSchool seminars equip students, organizational professionals, and leaders with the tools and training to become changemakers. These engagements range from half-day trainings to multiseminar programs modeled on the CEP curriculum.

Over the past year, PresenTense has run PTSchool sessions with teen leaders from BBYO, Jewish educators from JESNA, MASA participants from the former USSR, and hundreds of other participants from a variety of organizations.

PTStaff >> PresenTense is run by a small, dedicated team of 13 staff members, based in Jerusalem and New York. 2012 saw dramatic changes in staff, yet PresenTense was able to continue to grow its operations around the world.

This past year, PresenTense co-founders Ariel Beery and Aharon Horwitz officially ended their professional work with the organization after seven committed years. In October the PresenTense Group Board appointed Naomi Korb Weiss and Shelby Zitelman as the new co-Directors, and PresenTense Israel welcomed a new CEO, Guy Spigelman, who began his work in December.

In addition, in 2012 PresenTense trained 28 SocialStart Trainers from three countries to teach PTSchool sessions and CEP seminars, for a total of 52 Trainers over the past two years.
