ATLANTA PRESERVATION CENTER seeks a Coordinator of Educational Program and of Guided Walking Tours The ATLANTA PRESERVATION CENTER seeks candidates for the educational and outreach areas of its work. This is a permanent, part-time position for a self-motivated, mature individual to (1) handle all aspects of APC's Box City educational program, including presenting in public and private classrooms throughout metro Atlanta and (2) administration of APC's private and regularly scheduled tours. Weekdays and hours variable: expect annual average of 20-25 hours per week at $20 per hour. Non-employee basis; no employment benefits. Report to and work with APC's Director of Programs. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience, especially with grades 1-8, and marketing expertise. Familiarity with Word, Excel, email programs, Internet and web and social networking sites is required, as is reliable private transportation and tolerance for the office's Preservation Cat. BOX CITY is the only program of its kind in Atlanta. Part of an award-winning national curriculum, Box City is a hands-on, interactive program in which children create, build and plan their own city. Box City teaches the basic elements of architecture and urban planning while incorporating multiple curricula including community, civics, art, architecture, history and social studies. Individual will market the program to schools and teachers, schedule, prepare all materials for and conduct approximately fifty two-hour sessions in the classrooms, and prepare reports of sessions for funding purposes. The APC provides both private and regularly scheduled GUIDED WALKING TOURS of several historic neighborhoods and areas of the City from March through November and of the Fox Theatre year-round. Individual will respond to telephone, correspondence, fax and email inquiries about the tours. Market tours. Maintain tour calendars in electronic forms and on website. Maintain tour statistical data and notebooks. Implement tour updates or new tours in conjunction with Director of Programs. Handle scheduling of, and billing/collection for, private tours with requesting parties, sites and volunteer tour guides.


Coordinate volunteers' assignments for regularly scheduled guides, provide tour supplies to all guides, and collect and process tour rosters and admission fees.
