Incredible Croatia… facts
Croatia joined the European Union in 2013. English is widely spoken throughout the country and Croatia now uses the Euro as the main currency.
Money
Credit cards are accepted in larger businesses/restaurants/ hotels. Euro is the currency in Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia.
Driving and car hire
Driving is on the right as in the rest of Europe. You will find excellent motorways (with tolls) and ferry networks. Enjoy some stunning scenic drives on the old Adriatic coast road, off-the-beaten-track, self-drive discoveries (see page 10).
Excursions and activities
There are many boat trip options visiting small coves and long beaches. Excursions include historic places, national parks, cities, and islands. Or visit Montenegro from the Dubrovnik area. Amazing coastline and water-based activities go handin-hand: kayaking and boat hire. See page 9 for some ideas.
Eating out
Croatia offers choice, from fast food to fine dining (even Michelin star restaurants) and lots in between.
Croatia’s proximity to Italy means great pasta and pizza! And Croatia is big on seafood as well as superb, dried ham and local cheeses. Famous Kvarner Bay scampi (langoustines) and Ston mussels and oysters.
Flight times
Closer than you think. London to Pula is two hours, London to Dubrovnik is two hours and 30 minutes. Add 15 to 30 minutes for departures from Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin (page 79).
Transfers/transfer times
We use the best possible routes for transfers which may include ferries, catamarans, or private boats. We normally include private air-conditioned transfers – just for you.
Croatian beaches
There are a few sandy beaches, where they exist we say so. Most are pebble, paved, stone, often easy steps in from paved-stone beaches. Some rocky beaches often also have steps into the sea. Very clear water.
Culture, heritage, festivals
Croatia is big on arts, culture, festival scene: music, film, drama, sport, gastronomy. There is even an Istrian truffle season September & October. Many summer festivals too. It may be small, but Croatia boasts ten UNESCO World Heritage sites including: Split and Diocletian’s Palace, old city of Dubrovnik, Euphrasian Basilica complex Porec, city of Trogir, St James Cathedral and St Nicholas Fortress in Sibenik, the Zadar walls, Stari Grad Plain on Hvar and Plitvice Lakes National Park.
Transfers and Islands
On ferries/catamarans to/from the islands, you handle your own baggage (unless VIP private transfer booked including sea crossing). We give optimum travel times to the islands, though please be aware there may be waits for ferries or traffic queues at ports in high season. Travel to/from islands on Saturdays in July and August should be avoided. Islands tend to wake up later after winter, even though the weather may be glorious, some small places may only have a couple of bars and restaurants open in low season.
Hotel descriptions and facilities
We show the official star rating. Trees grow down to the coast in Croatia. Seaview means a clearer view to sea. Seaside means there may be trees obscuring view. Inland is inland maybe over a garden or neighbouring building.
• We do offer on occasion, a small number of 3-star hotels, as these are often the only/best hotels in a particular area.
• Rooms for people with disabilities - there are a few. They sell out fast. Please ask.
• Entertainment - usually run by hotel. Often mid-June to mid-September only.
• Sunbeds - Some places charge. Ask locally.
• Most five-star hotels include Beach/pool towel. Most four and five-star hotels offer pool towels. Maybe pack one.
• Tea & coffee in room - Uncommon in Croatia. If important to you, please take a travel kettle and English tea bags. Hotels may limit amount of tea and coffee in rooms provided daily.
• Meals - Most hotels offer buffet style for all meals. Hotels can vary their meal policy.
• Hotel car parks - There is a charge at some car parks. Policies can change from year to year.

Fly-drive and Multi-centre Holidays
Freestyle. Your pace. More in one holiday.
Croatia is a great country for exploring by yourself and a fly-drive holiday is the solution, whether it be from three days to three weeks, we can tailor-make an independent holiday for you. Roads and ferries are excellent, and you normally pick up your hire car at your arrival airport and drop it there when you fly home.
A few suggested experiences are shown on the following pages. Remember that islands usually haven’t woken up before 15 May and may be quiet. Self-drive itineraries are best outside of July and August as most hotels have a minimum stay policy in these months. Queues for ferries too in high season, mainly on Saturdays.
We show approximate driving distances which exclude any ferry crossings. Ferry tickets can be easily purchased locally at the ferry terminal. Croatia may be small but bear distances in mind. So, if you want to cover a big chunk of the coastline, allow two weeks. Contact us for tailor-made itineraries.
Distances
The following driving times include use of motorways and any ferry crossings where relevant and are average times. Depending on chosen ferry route/month-day of travel etc which could affect traffic flow, driving times may be slightly shorter or longer.

Two, Three Centres & More
More of Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro in one holiday. We really do know these countries and we can create your ideal holiday. With good roads and short ferry hops to the islands, a two-centre holiday (or more) in Croatia is a fantastic experience. Many return visitors choose multi-centre holidays and visit new places each time.
We also offer Croatia’s neighbours – Slovenia (page 76) and Montenegro (page 70) or Lake Bled in Slovenia combined with Porec. Or the Plitvice Lakes with the coast or an island.
Two or more centres can either be based on transfers between places where we do all the work and you just sit back and enjoy the journey. Or you can drive yourself in a hire-car, go at your own pace. Ferry tickets cannot be bought in advance for the short crossings which feature in these holidays. If using transfers, the ferry cost is included. Our representative provides you with ferry tickets on arrival. If opting for self-drive, these can be bought, without fuss, at the embarkation port where ticket vendors speak English – sample cost for car and two adults from Split to Supetar on the island of Brac (50 minutes) is approximately £40.

Casual cruises
Relax, and discover the breathtakingly beautiful Croatian Adriatic
The Croatian coast and her islands are beautiful beyond belief. The sea and everything and anything “maritime” is part of the Croatian soul. The perfect cocktail of a dramatic coastline with over 1000 islands, the pristine state of the sea itself and the vivid colours – one moment deep sapphire blue, the next a kind of turquoise-aquamarine which makes the Croatian Adriatic so very special. Tiny ports, hidden coves, wonderful panoramas, historic cities, and unspoilt locations. “Casual” and “relaxation” are what these cruises are about. We offer various itineraries, see pages 18 & 19 for full details.
We believe that these casual cruises are perfect for couples and groups of friends. Please carefully read the description of each craft on pages 16 & 17.
Our casual cruises are operated by stylish yet casual motor cruisers (no sails required). They are not luxury cruises, this is all about relaxing. All our cruise boats can make swimming stops in small bays that larger craft cannot access. This is no Ritz of the Seas, only casual clothes needed.
Be aware that a motor cruiser is not a giant cruise ship. If you love massive, ocean-going cruise liners with entertainment, pools, and spas, this is not for you! Don’t expect enormous cabins or designer shower gels!
All cabins have ensuite facilities with air-conditioning and TV. Cabin towels and beach towel provided. Credit/ debit cards are not accepted on board, its cash only. The onboard currency is Euro. Cash machines are in all ports of call. Included meals on board are breakfast and lunch (unless shown otherwise on the relevant cruise programme, see pages 18 & 19), and are served buffet-style. Breakfast includes cereals, breads, yogurt, fruit and a hot dish. Lunch is simple Mediterranean style usually offering three courses plus salad bar (plenty of fresh fish on the menu). No gourmet meals. If you crave gastronomic delights, you are free to enjoy evening dining at local restaurants which allows you the choice of dinner style. Bar on board serving beer, wine,
spirits and soft drinks, payable by cash at the end of your cruise. Usually the ship arrives at the next stop between 4-6pm and stays overnight in port. No overnight sailing.
All cruises have free Wi-fi, however the on-board signal may be variable due to location at sea. Our partners in Croatia may occasionally have to change a craft. Any alternative will normally be of the same or superior standard unless operational or weather conditions prevent this.
• Towels and bed linen are changed once weekly.
• Complimentary tea, coffee, and fresh fruit available daily. Water dispenser.
• Bring your own snorkelling equipment or buy it locally;
• Occasionally several boats dock together. You may have to step across an adjacent craft;
• Storage space in cabins is limited. Best to take soft luggage rather than hard cases;
• Cabins are always smaller than hotel rooms;
• Meals: As described above.
• Port tax & Tourist tax to be paid on board in cash - €60 per person
• Prices from £1745 per person including return flights, with one piece of baggage per person, transfers and a 7-night cruise.

CHI C & BOU T I Q U E
Unique properties for those who prefer something a little out of the ordinary.
As expected our collection offers courteous good service and several are quite small affording a very personal level of care to our guests. Some are located right in the heart of things, or are historic, or you might just like “quirky” hotels that offer a wonderfully different style, that makes you smile. Perhaps dining is important to you?
At Prestige we love to work with special hotels, that we know our guests will love time and time again. Hotels that take great pride in offering the best experience in wonderful surroundings, where nothing is too much trouble. If you don’t want to follow the crowds and prefer something a little bit different, then browse through the small selection of hotels found in we offer in Croatia and Montenegro.

Pula, Rovinj, Porec & Opatija
Fly to Pula
This area is Croatia “in miniature” because everything is here, beautiful pebble beaches, pretty hilltop villages, medieval towns, cobbled streets, lush, rolling green valleys, vineyards, olive groves and a unique National Park in the Brijuni islands.
Pula - Istria’s regional capital. Here you will find the famous first century Roman amphitheatre, the sixth largest in the world and home to the Pula Film Festival and world class artistes who usually perform in August. You can also enjoy some great boutique shopping, superb restaurants, and chill out bars.
Porec - The best-known resort on the Istrian Riviera. The flattest too. Basilica of Euphrasius has wondrous mosaics and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Look out for classical concerts here. Lots of flowers, gardens and squares and an excellent food market at Trg. Small, pretty beaches in pine woods. A good local bus service operates along the coast connecting most towns and resorts.
Rovinj - One of the prettiest places on the Croatian Adriatic, it was once an island, now a peninsula. It feels very Italian with elegant piazzas and Venetian-style buildings. It’s very stylish with a mix of Venetian, Gothic and Baroque architecture. All the narrow streets in the old town lead uphill to St Euphemia church. Climb the church tower for great views. In August, usually the second weekend on St Lawrence’s night, lights are switched off and candles and torches take their place, its magical. Lots of cool bars and chill-out lounges and good restaurants. Two Michelin star restaurants here too.
Opatija - This resort is sophisticated and elegant and steeped in history. You’ll discover boutique shopping, café society, cool bars and live music (high season). Opatija has pebble and stone/rock beaches, often with a sandy sea floor. There are excellent boat trips taking in the Kvarner Islands to enjoy.

Zadar Riviera
Fly to Zadar & Split
Zadar – is becoming one of the favourite places on this stretch of coast. Uncover the rich culture and historic ramparts and the famous Greeting to the Sun and the Sea Organ. The striking main street “Kalelarga” and Forum, is testament to the Roman period. Ancient walls of Zadar gained UNESCO Heritage status in 2017. Zadar is a buzzing place with a great choice of bars and restaurants. Easy day trips to islands for hidden beaches and a “far away” feel.
Biograd Na Moru – A lovely resort with real Mediterranean feel with a choice of restaurants and bars, and prices are often a little lower than in other more famous places on the coast. Pretty little town, with narrow streets, that hugs the waterfront. Good beaches both stone and pebble.
Sibenik – The historic town of Sibenik is just one hour away from Zadar and we offer the boutique style Heritage Life Palace Hotel there, please ask for details.
Heritage Hotel Bastion

Many aspects of this historic building merit five stars in our opinion, including the à la carte Restaurant Kastel. Once a castle within the city’s defensive walls, now under UNESCO protection. Perfect for adults wanting a short break in a city location in a beautiful historic building. The city’s monuments, including the ‘Sea Organ’ and ‘Greetings to the Sun’ are within walking distance of the hotel.

Split, Brac & Makarska
Fly to Split
Split – Is now just as sought after as Dubrovnik. A thriving and vibrant old city with many architectural styles, encased by the original walls of Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO listed site. Here you can explore churches, squares and spires. Visit the Peristyle, once the palace courtyard and now home to cafés and bars. Enjoy great boutique shopping. The long Bacvice beach is mostly sand and there is a pedestrianised promenade with cool cafés. Split has a bustling port and offers great connections by ferry and catamaran to the rest of the coast and islands. Easy for day trips.
Podstrana – Around 10 minutes’ drive from downtown Split by bus or taxi. Good pebble and rock beaches here. Close to the big city.
Trogir – Beautiful walled old city and a UNESCO heritage site. Mini Dubrovnik lookalike with venetian palaces and narrow streets (old town is pedestrianised). Boutique shopping and a good choice of bars and restaurants. Boat service to/ from Split.
Island of Brac – It is truly beautiful and unspoilt. It’s the third largest of Croatia’s islands with dramatic landscapes and excellent beaches including famous Zlatni Rat beach at Bol. Vineyards as far as the eye can see and old criss-crossing shepherd trails are now perfect for walkers during cooler months.
Bol – On the south coast of Brac, Bol is laid back outside of high season, most buzz is in July & August. The famous Zlatni Rat (Golden Cape) beach, with beautiful pine wood is found here. Lovely old part of town has hidden courtyards, squares, church and museum.
Supetar – On the north coast. Largest town on Brac, in fact the island’s capital. More like a large fishing village, with pretty horseshoe-shaped waterfront spot. Bars, restaurants and good pine fringed beaches under a 10-minute stroll.
Postira – Lovely fishing village. Quietest spot of all on Brac. Still somewhat sleepy in May so if you like calm, go then! Some secluded coves. Rare, narrow sandy beach at Lovrecina.
Makarska – liveliest spot on this part of coast. Big bay bordered by two peninsulas and a lovely seafront promenade by the beach. Walk the coastal path. This seafront town centre is stylish and offers a varied restaurant scene. For days out there is a regular ferry to the Island of Brac. Excursions to Split, Sibenik and Krka National Park.
Tucepi – South of Makarska. About an hour’s walk. A modern resort with a stylish seafront offering a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops. Boat trips. Long pebble beach. Traditional hamlets in nearby hills.

Dubrovnik Riviera
Fly to Dubrovnik
Everyone wants to experience world-famous Dubrovnik, however famous places get busy, especially in high season. Many people want a quieter holiday without missing the star attraction. The Dubrovnik Riviera is resorts and islands close to the sought after city, so the best of all worlds.
Cavtat – A favourite with British visitors 20 minutes by road or 40 minutes by taxi-boat from Dubrovnik. In a beautiful bay with a picturesque waterfront of old stone houses, church towers, cafés and restaurants and a wide seaside promenade. No cars in high season. Explore the nearby Konavle Valley. Sundays, go to Cilipi a little village 10 minutes away (excursion). Traditional dancing and local costumes.
Orasac – About 25 minutes north of Dubrovnik by regular bus, car or taxi-boat. This is a quiet spot. There are a couple of café/bars outside Sun Gardens Dubrovnik. Don’t miss Trsteno Arboretum, a tucked-away secret garden estate. Visit the Peljesac peninsula (excursion) and the great walls of Ston, reminiscent of the Great Wall of China.
Mlini – Named after the old water mill, this was an old village and still is really. It’s a relaxed spot with a lovely pebble beach, a few bars, restaurants and shops on the waterfront. It has good connections to Dubrovnik and Cavtat, a taxi-boat takes about 20 minutes. Most of the waterfront is traffic-free in summer.

Croatia National Parks
National Parks, spectacular waterfalls, lakes & forests –Croatia’s green and glorious interior.
So many combinations are possible. Ask us. We really are the experts.
EIGHT NATIONAL PARKS
Two of these are actually island chains: the Kornati Archipelago (1) around 100 tiny islands and reefs mostly uninhabited. Best seen by boat, on a day trip from Murter, on the Zadar Riviera.
THE BRIJUNI ISLANDS (2) – became NP in 1983. Before then, the preferred residence of Tito, leader of former Yugoslavia. Cycle through woodland and park. Day trip from Fazana, only a 15-minute crossing. Excursions from most places in Istria.
RISNJAK NATIONAL PARK (3) within the Gorski Kotar mountain range. North Croatia. Gorgeous flora and fauna. Marked trails, pools and streams. Home to brown bear and lynx.
Easy for a day trip from Kvarner or Istria regions.
THE PLITVICE LAKES NATIONAL PARK (4) – Croatia’s most visited attraction with spectacular waterfalls. Merits at least a whole day.
THE PAKLENICA NATIONAL PARK (5) – and the Northern Velebit National Park (6) adored by hikers. Excellent trails. Paklenica contains gorges, mountains and caves plus sequence of tunnels and bunkers built for defence in the past.
KRKA NATIONAL PARK (7) has around 17 blue cascades tumbling down over limestone sediment resulting in pools in semi-submerged forest. Usually accessed by boat from Skradin. Easy from central or northern Dalmatia regions.
MLJET NATIONAL PARK (8) – is actually part of Mljet island. The two main attractions appear to be “lakes” (but are actually narrow inlets connected to the sea). The large lake is home to St Mary’s island with its Benedictine monastery. Great hiking and biking trails. Easily reached from Dubrovnik.
WALKING, HIKING, BIKING
Most national parks have excellent walking trails and Mljet and Brijuni avoid hills. The islands of Hvar and Brac both offer superb walking. Into the mountains visit the Northern Velebit, the Biokovo Mountains or Gorski Kotar. Great biking trails in Istria region where old railway tracks provide access across the beautiful Mirna Valley.
Hotel Vrata Krke
From £910pp for 7 nights
“Vrata” means gate or door in Croatian and the hotel really is at the gateway to the stunning Krka National Park. The entrance is five minutes walk away. Closer to Home
Closer to Home
Our Closer to Home brochure brings you the fabulous Isles of Scilly, and the stunning Channel Islands of Jersey, Guernsey, Sark, Herm and Alderney. When you travel to any of the islands, you feel as if you’ve arrived somewhere truly different yet from many UK airports the flying time is less than one hour. The Isles of Scilly offer simple escapism and are natural, sought after places with pearly sand beaches – people fall in love with them and almost everyone returns. The Channel Islands are British yet have a distinctly French feel. There are historic sights, fabulous beaches and beautiful walks. Jersey and Guernsey offer unspoilt getaways, with plenty to do and see. Sark, Herm and Alderney, provide an eclectic haven in a slightly wild, yet mysteriously beautiful way.
The holidays in this brochure are advertised and operated by Atkins Travel Limited trading as ‘Prestige Travel’, a fully bonded tour operator. Our flight based holidays provide full financial protection by way of our Air Travel Organiser’s Licence number (ATOL) 2509 issued by the Civil Aviation Authority, Gatwick Airport South, West Sussex, RH6 0YR, UK, telephone 0333 103 6350, email: claims@caa.co.uk. When you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive package from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists what is financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong. Please see our booking condition 17 for information, or for more information about ATOL go to: www.caa.co.uk. Atkins Travel Ltd is a member of ABTA and our package holidays that don’t include a flight are protected by means of a bond held by ABTA The Travel Association, 30 Park Street, London, SE1 9EQ www.abta.com. In the unlikely event of our insolvency, the CAA or ABTA will ensure you are not stranded abroad or will arrange to refund any money you have paid to us for an advance booking. The contact details for Atkins Travel Limited are Office 11 Haviland House, 17 Cobham Road, Ferndown Business Park, Dorset BH21 7PE (‘the Company’s Office’), enquiry@prestigetravel.co.uk, 01425 480 400. 1. We want you to have an enjoyable holiday and so that there is no misunderstanding you should carefully read the following terms and conditions as these will apply to any contract you make with us.
2. We reserve the right to alter the price of any of the holidays shown in our brochure. You will be advised of the current price of the holiday that you wish to book before your contract is confirmed.
3. The contract is between Atkins Travel Limited (‘the Company’) and the person making the booking and/or the person(s) on whose behalf the booking has been made (‘the Client’).
4. In order to confirm a booking we will require you or our authorised agent to:
(a) send us the appropriate deposit, the amount of which will vary and this will be confirmed at the time of booking. See Clause 12(d).
(b) A contract will exist between the Company and you when you pay a deposit/full payment to the Company or its agent or the Company has verbally confirmed the booking and you confirm with the Company that you have the authority of all persons named to contract on their behalf the services requested.
5. The balance of the holiday price shall be paid by the date to be advised but in any event shall not be more than twelve weeks prior to your departure.
6. If the deposit and/or balance is not paid in time, we shall cancel your travel arrangements. If the balance is not paid in time we shall retain your deposit.
7. Once you have booked, whatever happens to the value of the Pound, the price of your holiday will not be subject to any currency surcharges or refunds due to the bank contracts we have in place.
(a) The price of your holiday is, however, subject to surcharges or reductions on the following items: the price of the carriage of passengers resulting from changes to the cost of fuel or other power sources, and the level of taxes or fees imposed by third parties including tourist taxes, landing taxes or embarkation or disembarkation fees at ports and airports. However there will be no change within 20 days of your departure. We will absorb and you will not be charged for any increase equivalent to 2% of the price of your travel arrangements, which excludes any amendment charges. You will be charged for the amount over and above that. If this means that you have to pay an increase of more than 8% of the price of your travel arrangements, you will have the option of accepting a change to another holiday if we are able to offer one (if this is of equivalent or higher quality you will not have to pay more but if it is of lower quality you will be refunded the difference in price), or cancelling and receiving a full refund of all monies paid, except for any amendment charges. Should you decide to cancel because of this reason, you must exercise your right to do so within 14 days from the issue date on your final invoice. Should the price of your holiday go down due to the changes mentioned above, then any refund due will be paid to you. We will deduct from this refund our administrative expenses incurred. However, please note that travel arrangements are not always purchased in local currency and some apparent changes have no impact on the price of your travel due to contractual and other protection in place.
8. As we plan your holiday arrangements many months in advance we may occasionally have to make changes or cancel your booking and we reserve the right to do so at any time. You will be informed without delay of a cancellation (for any reason) by the Company and on such a cancellation except where it occurs due to non payment by you, the Company will offer you the choice of an alternative holiday of at least comparable standard (if available) or a full refund of all monies, payable within 10 days of you requesting such refund. Compensation may be payable on a sliding scale. See No. 9 (c).
9. (a) A major change to the contract is one which would involve a significant change to the holiday (e.g. a significant change in resort).
(b) If the Company makes a major change after it has confirmed the booking the Company will immediately inform you and offer the choice of an alternative holiday of at least comparable standard (if available) or cancelling and receiving a full refund of all monies, payable within 10 days of you requesting such refund. Please read any notification of changes carefully and respond promptly as if you do not respond to us within the timescale given your booking may be cancelled.
(c) Subject to (d) below if the Company cancels, or makes a major change and you accept a refund rather than an alternative, after the date of payment of the balance of the holiday price it will in addition to the choice offered in sub-paragraph (b) of this clause compensate you as follows:
Period before departure date Compensation due payable per person
More than 84 days NIL
Between 29 and 83 days £10
Between l5 and 28 days £15
Between 8 and 14 days £20
7 days or less £25
(d) The provisions of clause (c) will not apply in the event of a major change or cancellation due to any cause beyond the Company’s control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. The following shall be regarded as causes beyond the Company’s control:
(i) Act of God, explosion, flood, fire or accident.
(ii) War, terrorism or any threat thereof, insurrection, civil disturbance. (iii) Any government or local authority restrictions or regulations.
(iv) Strikes or other industrial actions (or threat thereof).
(v) Weather conditions, epidemic or pandemic illness.
(e) We will confirm the airline/ferry company identity when you book. If it changes we will advise you. This may be at the airport on the day of departure. A change of airline/ferry company is a minor change to your holiday, as is an alteration of less than 12 hours to the outward/return flight or change of accommodation to the same or higher standard.
10. (a) The Company will consider any reasonable request by you to amend or vary the terms of your travel arrangements but shall not be under any obligation to comply with such a request. Charges will be kept to a minimum, in some cases this may mean amendment or replacement cost of airline tickets. Any request for changes to be made must be in writing from the person who made the booking or your travel agent.
(b) In the event of a reduction by you in the number of persons taking a self contained apartment or hotel room (or hire car) the Company may need to charge for any beds, transfers or seats unused as a result of that reduction. Please ask for a price.
(c) You can transfer your booking to another person, who satisfies all the conditions that apply to this booking, by giving us notice in writing as soon as possible and no later than seven days before departure. Both you and the new traveller are responsible for paying all costs we incur in making the transfer.
11. (a) All reasonable steps to ensure that the holiday is not cancelled or altered as a result of overbooking by hotels will be made by the company.
(b) If the hotel is overbooked (despite the Company’s reasonable efforts) and the Company is aware of such overbooking before your departure the Company will immediately inform you and offer the choice of an alternative holiday of at least comparable standard (if available) or of a full refund of all monies, payable within 10 days of you requesting such refund and compensation will be payable in accordance with Clause 9 (c).
(c) If the Company does not know of the overbooking of the hotel before your departure you shall on arrival at your destination be offered alternative accommodation. If the alternative accommodation is inferior to that originally booked the Company shall also offer reasonable compensation for disturbance.
12. (a) You may cancel the holiday at any time. The Company will charge you the cancellation fees set out below. Please note the exceptions to these charges set out in (d) below. A cancellation by you must be in writing signed by the person who made the booking or sent the email acceptance and sent to the Company’s Office and acknowledged by the company.
(b) The Cancellation charges (expressed as a percentage of the confirmed holiday price) are as follows:
Period before scheduled departure date during which written cancellation is received by the Company:
Amount of cancellation charge
More than 84 days Deposit/initial payment
Between 83 and 31 days 50%
Between 30 and 15 days 75% 14 days or less 100%
Also see (d) below.
(c) You can cancel your booking without paying cancellation charges if the performance of your package, or the carriage of passengers to your destination, is significantly affected by unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances occurring at your destination. In such circumstances, we will arrange for your booking to be terminated and for you to receive a full refund. We will observe advice provided by the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
(d) Some properties may demand part or full payment even if a holiday is cancelled. Additionally if we have bought aircraft seats in from another tour operator or a public airfare for you once you confirm your intention to travel, we are committed to pay for those seats or hotel rooms in full. If, therefore, you cancel your holiday at any time after booking, you will be/may be liable for the cost of those seats or hotel rooms in part or full. In these circumstances we, and therefore you, are bound by the booking conditions of the other supplier. We will also require an increased deposit, the amount will be advised at the time of booking. We will remind you of any exception at the time of booking your holiday.
13. The Company shall not be obliged to claim compensation for nor to make any allowances or refund for lost or expired or unendorsed tickets, hotel coupons, or vouchers for any service or accommodation booked. But if any allowance or refund is obtained by the Company it will pass the same on to you less any expenses reasonably incurred in obtaining it.
14. We will make your holiday arrangements with every care. We cannot, however be responsible for any damage or loss of your luggage or other property unless caused by any of our staff or suppliers. We
cannot be responsible for any fatal or other injury or illness unless caused by the negligence of any of our staff or suppliers whilst on duty. You must inform us without undue delay of any failure to perform or improper performance of the travel services included in this package. If any of the travel services included in your package are not performed in accordance with the contract, or are improperly performed, by us or the travel service suppliers, and this has affected the enjoyment of your travel arrangements, you may be entitled to an appropriate price reduction or compensation or both. We will not be liable where any failure to perform or improper performance of the travel services is due to: you or another member of your party; or a third party unconnected with the provision of the travel services in the package and is unforeseeable or unavoidable; or unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances, which means a situation beyond our control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken.
15. All arrangements made by or through the Company in connection with the booking are subject to the contractual terms of the suppliers providing the services that make up your booking. These terms are incorporated into this contract and may limit or extinguish your right to compensation. Further, we are to be regarded as having the benefit of any limit on compensation contained in the relevant international convention. These limit liability for death, injury and loss or damage to baggage. Copies of the contractual terms and international conventions are available on request.
16. If you’re in difficulty whilst on holiday and ask us to help we will provide appropriate assistance, in particular by providing information on health services, local authorities and consular assistance; and helping you to find alternative arrangements and any necessary phone calls/emails. You must pay any costs we incur, if the difficulty is your fault.
17. We, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL Certificate, will provide you with the services listed on the ATOL Certificate (or a suitable alternative). In some cases, where neither we nor the supplier are able to do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with the services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable).
If we, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL certificate, are unable to provide the services listed (or a suitable alternative, through an alternative ATOL holder or otherwise) for reasons of insolvency, the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust may make a payment to (or confer a benefit on) you under the ATOL scheme. You agree that in return for such a payment or benefit you assign absolutely to those Trustees any claims which you have or may have arising out of or relating to the non-provision of the services, including any claim against us, the travel agent (or your credit card issuer where applicable). You also agree that any such claims may be re-assigned to another body, if that other body has paid sums you have claimed under the ATOL scheme.
18. We do not run or control or have any other involvement in any excursions in our holiday destinations and we have not inspected them in any way.
All excursion providers are entirely independent of us. If you buy any excursion(s) whilst on holiday, the contract will be between you and the excursion provider. The excursion(s) will not form part of the package or of your contract with us. We cannot accept any liability in relation to any excursion(s) and the acceptance of liability for contracted holiday arrangements in our booking conditions will not apply to them.
19. In the unlikely event of any dissatisfaction with the accommodation or any of the services provided during your holiday the matter must be reported immediately to the local representative or agent of the Company AND the hotelier so that action can be taken to remedy the problem. If we have not been given the opportunity to rectify the complaint at the time this may affect your rights. If the problem is not resolved satisfactorily during the holiday you should submit your complaint in writing to the Company at the Company’s Office as soon as possible after your return home, ideally within 28 days, advising the Company of the action taken and the names of the people to whom the matter was reported. A written report must be obtained from our representative where we have one. Except in personal injury or death claims, our liability shall be limited to three times the cost of the holiday paid to the Company. We are a Member of ABTA, membership number V2715. We are obliged to maintain a high standard of service to you by ABTA’s Code of Conduct. We can also offer you ABTA’s scheme for the resolution of disputes which is approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute. If we can’t resolve your complaint, go to www.abta.com to use ABTA’s simple procedure. Further information on the Code and ABTA’s assistance in resolving disputes can be found on www. abta.com. You can also access the Arbitration Service offered by AITO - operated by Dispute Settlement Services (DSS), please ask for details. For injury and illness claims, you can request the ABTA Mediation Procedure and we have the option to agree to mediation.
20. Every effort is made by the Company to give as accurate a description as possible for the hotels, guest houses, villas, apartments and ships in this brochure. All facilities mentioned in the descriptions are generally available for the duration of the brochure but in certain circumstances (particularly in the low and off seasons) their provision may be limited e.g. weather conditions, maintenance, etc. Please note that the provisions of these facilities and any charges imposed for their use are totally outside the control of the Company.
21. These conditions are subject to English Law and the jurisdiction shall rest with the English, Scottish or Northern Ireland courts as appropriate.
Please read this information, only by doing so can both you and we ensure that your Prestige holiday is everything you expect and we wish to provide. We are delighted to offer advice at any time.
Hotel Facilities
Throughout this brochure Prestige Travel refers to facilities offered by hotels such as swimming pools, air-conditioning, entertainment programmes, restaurants, children’s clubs, watersports and other amenities. Obviously the availability of all facilities is under the day to day control of the hotel management. Some larger hotels do on occasions host conferences, of which we will be unaware; this may mean restricted or alternative facilities are offered.
Air-conditioning and pool heating are not usually on year round, and the dates they operate are subject to hotel management control. We will always try to advise you if any facility is not available. We feel sure you will understand that under these circumstances we cannot guarantee that any such facilities will be available during your stay. If you have a particular interest on holiday, such as tennis or if you will need a children’s club or babysitting, we will be very happy to verify that it will be available for you, before you book. Your needs are important – tell us what they are.
Hotel Bedrooms
Most hotel rooms are with twin beds but double beds may be available on request. Single rooms may be smaller. Extra beds or infants’ cots are normally available on request but may tend to ‘cramp’ the bedroom. We respectfully remind you that any request for a particular room number or location is just that, a request. The hotel will do its utmost to satisfy the request, but it cannot be guaranteed. We stress that the allocation of rooms is solely within the hotels’ control. Please note should a specific room be requested and it is a higher room category than that booked and confirmed, the additional cost will have to be paid locally.
Availability of Hotel Bedrooms
Prestige Travel holds an allocation of rooms at most featured hotels and confirmation of your requirement should be immediate. If this is not possible we will email or telephone the hotel, to avoid any delay to our confirmation.
Classification of Hotels
Hotel classifications quoted are those officially approved in each country. Standards do vary and if you have any doubt as to the suitability of an hotel we are happy to offer advice. We do offer a small number of 3-star hotels, as these are often the only/best hotels in a particular area.
Hotel Arrival
If you are travelling on an evening flight your hotel room is of course reserved for the night of your arrival.
Hotel Check-Out
Normally 11.00am but if you prefer a later check-out time we will do our best to assist, although the hotel may make a supplementary charge. Check-in times are normally between 2.00pm - 3.00 pm.
Flights
Prestige Travel prefers wherever possible to use scheduled flights. This we believe reduces the chance of delays or cancellations and you travel as an individual. Some flights can only be altered in an emergency and only at the discretion of the airline, a charge will be imposed. Prepaid seat reservations may in exceptional circumstances have to be changed by the airline when the operating aircraft is altered. In the unlikely event of a flight delay, it is your airline’s responsibility to care for you (once you have checked in) and keep you informed of the extent of the delay, meals and overnight arrangements (if applicable). We are required to collect passenger contact details. In the event of a cancellation, a major delay or if you are denied boarding you may be entitled to compensation and/or a refund from your airline but not an automatic refund of holiday costs from us. For details go to www.caa.co.uk.
Brochure
This brochure is issued on the sole responsibility of the tour operator. It does not commit the airline(s) mentioned therein, or

any airline whose services are used in the course of the holiday(s). Passports
You must hold a valid passport. If you have a British passport, it must be issued less than 10 years before the date you enter the country, and valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave. Please note that a visa may be required if you hold a non-UK passport. Please read Visa Information. It is now a requirement of most airlines to collect passport details from every passenger. If you are 16 or over and haven’t yet got a passport, our recommendation is that you should apply for one at least 6 weeks before your holiday. The UK Passport Service has to confirm your identity before issuing your first passport and will ask you to attend an interview in order to do this. From late 2024 a new EU Entry/Exit Scheme (EES) will be introduced, whereby all travellers to the EU will need to have a photo of their face taken, and fingerprints scanned.

Visa Information
If you are a British citizen and hold a valid UK passport you do not generally require a visa to travel to any of our destinations. However, your own particular circumstances (which will not be evident to us) may mean that a visa is required for you or another member of your party. We would strongly urge you to contact the consulate of the country(ies) that you will be visiting to obtain the most up-to-date information before booking with us. We do not accept any responsibility if you cannot travel because you have not complied with any passport, visa or immigration requirements. From mid 2025 there will be a new EU visa waiver scheme, called ETIAS. When it comes in, you will need to apply and pay for ETIAS online in order to enter the EU.
Health
At the time of going to press no inoculations were required for any countries in this brochure. Check recommended precautions at: www.travelhealthpro.org.uk The Department of Health website www.nhs.uk/ghic has the latest information about obtaining a Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC). We will make every reasonable effort to advise you of any health rules but must emphasise that it is your responsibility to ensure any such rules are complied with. Illness or pregnancy may require a “fit to fly” certificate from your GP. Please advise us.
Reductions for Children
Some hotels in this brochure do give excellent reductions or even free accommodation for children. Infants under the age of two years sharing parents’ bedroom will be quoted at time of booking as some hotels may make a hire charge for cots. Our normal charge includes air travel and a standard cot charge. Meals, if taken, will be charged direct by the hotel. In general children 11 years and under sharing parents’ room in hotels (not apartments) are entitled to a discount. Unfortunately children of whatever age occupying adult accommodation are ineligible for these discounts, except where specifically offered. Car seats for arrival and departure transfers can be arranged and will incur a charge.
Baby-Sitting
Usually notice is needed to book a sitter. Please check their suitability, the cost and the exact service given. Some hotels have minimum stays during peak season. We will advise you of these at the time of booking.

This is subject to the agent’s obligation to pay it to us. In the extremely unlikely event of our insolvency, any money held at that time by the agent, or subsequently accepted from you by him, is and continues to be held on behalf of and for the benefit of the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust without any obligation to pay that money to us. When you buy a holiday not including a flight, all monies you pay to the travel agent are held by him on behalf of Prestige Travel at all times.
