Player Spotlight Q: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY ON THE USJGT? A: One of my favorite memories on the USJGT is shooting 66-65 at quail ridge to break my own scoring record. A: The USJGT has really helped me with confidence and knowing that I can play with anyone out there. There is always quality competition at each tournament which makes me play my best. Q: HOW HAS THE USJGT PREPARED YOU FOR COLLEGE GOLF? A: The scheduling has really helped me prepare for the schedule I will face in college. The tournaments are always played on quality courses that will greatly benefit me when I go to college. I have met so many people on this tour that I have stayed in contact with that play college golf now and who will play in the future.

Message from the Staff That time of year has arrived. Our last tournament was almost three months ago, and players are anxious and ready to get back on the course after a long winter break. Justin Timberlake’s Mirimichi will host the official opening event of the 2013 spring season in March and the staff of the USJGT is just as ready as the players for the competition to begin. Even though we’ve had no tournaments since November, the USJGT has been busy making this tour your best and most affordable option in junior golf. Among the changes coming this spring are the use of rangefinders, more opportunities to earn AJGA performance stars and expansion of our staff. Rangefinders will be allowed this spring for the first time in the tour’s history. Make sure the rangefinder you use measures distance only. It cannot measure slope, wind or any other variable. We are hoping this will speed up play and eliminate players’ needs to walk off long yardages. The USJGT continues to be rated among the top junior tours in the country in terms of the level of competition. The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) has recognized this and has designated four USJGT spring events for players to earn performance stars. Quail Ridge, Greystone, Galloway and the Tour Championship all have AJGA recognition for both the Boys and Girls High School divisions. We also welcome USJGT alum Preston McClellan to our staff as Director of Marketing and Public Relations. Preston is currently working on two master’s degrees at Ohio University in Business Administration and Sports Administration. He will be coordinating the production of this newsletter, marketing strategies for the tour and public relations. He will also be responsible for the USJGT’s Facebook page and Twitter feeds. Our first three events in March should all be good ones. In addition to Mirimichi, join us at Swan Lake in Clarksville and Quail Ridge in Bartlett for great competition. We also are always looking for new ideas from you, the members and parents. If you know of a course that would be receptive to hosting a USJGT event, a company that would be interested in sponsoring a USJGT event, or other ideas to improve the tour, we always welcome your thoughts. We look forward to seeing you on the course this spring. Let’s tee it up! Sincerely, - Mark McClellan and Cliff Frisby

United States Junior Golf Tour

New Partnership

The United States Junior Golf Tour is partnering with Ohio University’s Sports Administration program to provide real world sports experience for graduate students in the program. Four students will be working with the tour over the next several months to add to the overall experience of junior golf on our tour. The four students, who are all earning dual Masters degrees in Business and Sports Administration, will also be running two tournaments in the Southeast Ohio Region. Ohio’s Sports Administration program, the first ever of its kind when it was founded more than forty years ago, is regarded as the premiere sports administration graduate program in the country. More information about the program can be found by visiting www.sportsad.ohio.edu.
