IFC’s The Spoils Before Dying Miniseries to Premiere in July IFC announced that its highlyanticipated miniseries, The Spoils Before Dying will debut as a sixpart television event this July. The Spoils Before Dying is named for the long-lost pulp-noir murder masterpiece that explores the


dodgy underbelly of the Los Angeles jazz scene. Written by author turned director Eric Jonrosh (Will Ferrel), the story follows Rock Banyon (Michael Kenneth Williams), who flees to Mexico after being cast as the prime suspect in the double murder of his occasional lover Fresno Foxglove (Maya Rudolph) and the other man found with her. In Mexico, Banyon reunites with his one-time big band singer Delores DeWinter (Kristen Wiig)


as he attempts to navigate the truth behind the murders, all while Banyon’s manager Alistair St. Barnaby (Haley Joel Osment) pressures him to record a mainstream jazz album. Other notable cast members include cast includes Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex), Kate McKinnon (SNL, Ghostbusters), Molly Shannon (Me & Earl & the Dying Girl, SNL), Tim Meadows (Marry Me, SNL), Lou Gossett Jr. (An Officer and a Gentleman,


Roots), Chris Parnell (30 Rock, SNL), Emily Ratajkowski (Gone Girl, We Are Your Friends), Steve Tom (Major Crimes) and Marc Evan Jackson (Brooklyn NineNine). “Banned around the world almost five decades ago, The Spoils Before Dying is a gritty and unrelenting tale of forbidden everything,” said IFC President Jennifer Caserta. “We may all wind up in jail, but this epic tale of sex, drugs, violence and jazz WILL


be seen.� The Spoils Before Dying is produced by Funny or Die and executive produced by Ferrell, Adam McKay, Matt Piedmont, Andrew Steele and Nate Young. Piedmont directed the series and partnered with Steele to pen the script. The miniseries will premiere July 8-10 with two half-hour episodes airing each evening at 9:00 p.m. EST/PT on IFC.
