A micronation, sometimes referred to as a model country or new country project, is an entity that claims to be an independent nation or state but is not officially recognized by world governments or major international organizations.

MICRONATIONS WITHIN EUROPE

Micronations are distinguished from imaginary countries and from other kinds of social groups (such as eco-villages, campuses, tribes, clans, sects, and residential community associations) by expressing a formal and persistent, even if EUROPEAN UNION OF MICRONATIONS

MICRONATIONS WITHIN EUROPE

The term “micronation” to describe those entities dates at least to the 1970s. The term micropatrology is sometimes used to describe the study of both micronations and microstates by micronationalists, some of whom refer GENERAL INFORMATION

The Republic of Scotannaea is a country situated with many territorial claims and is governed in different places. It is a unicameral parliament so there is the President which oversees all the country’s activity, makes all of the final decisions and has full control over the nation. The second major power in Scotannaea is the Chairman of the National Assembly which is currently Reverend Jack Booth. The capital city of Scotannaea is Clares and it’s largest city is Brownsea Quay in the Studland Islands. The average estimated population for 2013 was secured for over 1 million unregistered citizens. The current President of Scotannaea is Jack Booth and was sworn as the 2nd President of Scotannaea on the 3rd April 2014.

BORDERS

Although the country doesn’t generally have borders and customs within the nation, 3 territories of the country have borders in the method of a fence or a wall. The three territories are Claresland which is the main

capital city of the country and it’s still entirely surrounded by fence but there are some breakaways. Davisland is surrounded by wooden walls since the main territory was the site of a housing establishment years ago, and there is only one broken area of entry. And there is Pickards Field which is regarded as the most secure and border patrolled territory. The entire territory is entirely surrounded with a metal fence with no evidence of breakaways and the 2 gates where farmers gain entry are opened by it’s allotment users as Pickards Field is allotment land used for farming, most of the time the territory is closed in the winter due to bad weather and no farmers would want to farm there, and the territory is cut off at night due to no usage of the allotments; the western sector of the Pickards Field Federation is the most secure but the eastern sector is open territory. The left side of the border is the Eastern sector of the Pickards Field Federation and the right side of the border is the United Kingdom. But what these territories have in common is that with all other Scotan colonies and territories, They have a right to roam in every other territory. So even though Pickards Field has a fence, Davisland has a wall and Claresland has weaker fencing, You still don’t need a passport to enter these places. You don’t need a passport to roam & live in any Scotan territory if you are of any nationality. But you do need Scotan citizenship in order to work in the country along with a passport to prove your true nationality; citizens of Pickards Field Federation (both sectors) are exempt from this rule. The left side of the border is the Eastern sector of the Pickards Field Federation and the right side of the border is the United Kingdom.

MICRONATIONS WITHIN EUROPE

Etimology The term ‘micronation’ literally means “small nation”. It is a neologism originating in the mid-1970s to describe the many thousands of small unrecognised state-like entities that have mostly arisen since that time. It is generally accepted that the term was invented by Robert Ben Madison. The term has since also come to be used retrospectively to refer to earlier unrecognised entities, some of which date to as far back as the 19th century.

SPORT

Recently, Scotannaea has got a huge cultural boost for sporting as the country hosted the first ever micronational olympic games in 2014. Scotannaea has also gained a sporty depiction due to it’s diverse sporting scene and bids in the 2016, 2018 and the 2020 summer micronational olympic games. Scotannaea with it’s Holywell Bay colony and it’s enormous sand dunes, has a huge reputation for Sandboarding as it is also the national sport of Scotannaea since 2013. The 2014 Winter Micronational Olympic Games’s Snowboarding, skiing and ski jumping events will be taking place on the sand dunes covered with snow. Scotannaea is also recognised for it’s well performing national football team which won it’s first (unofficial) match against Viadalvia in 2013 with a score of 3-1 to Scotannaea. Scotannaea’s football team is yet to be implemented into the MFA. Reports have stated that when the football team has been finalised, then the country could face entry into the MFA and compete for the micronational world cup of football/soccer.

Supporters of micronations (“micronationalists”) use the term “macronation” for any UN-recognized sovereign nation-state. Not all micronations are small; some can be rather large, like the Dominion of British West Florida or those with claims on Antarctica or other planets.

MICRONATIONS WITHIN EUROPE

Definition Micronations generally have a number of common features, although these may vary widely. They may have a structure GLAGOLIA similar to established sovereign states, including territorial claims, government Empire of Glagolia (English) Glagoljsko Carstvo institutions, official symbols (Glagolithic Croatian) Motto: “Faith, family, homeland!” and citizens, albeit on a much Anthem: National anthem of Glagolia smaller scale. Micronations are often quite small, in both their claimed territory and claimed populations — although there are some exceptions to this rule, with different micronations having different methods of citizenship. Micronations may also issue formal instru-

The Montevideo Convention was one attempt to create a legal definition distinguishing between states and non-states. Some micronations meet this definition, while some do not, and others reject the Convention altogether. The academic study of micronations, microstates, and alternative governments is known as micropatrology, and the hobby of establishing and operating micronations is known as micronationalism.

MICRONATIONS WITHIN EUROPE

In the present day, nine main types of micronations are prevalent: GENERAL INFORMATION The nation of Glagolia, officialy Empire of Glagolia, was founded on 12 May 2013. It was founded to preserve the culture of ancient Croats. Glagolia is a sovereign and independent country surrounded by territory of Croatia. The name originates from Glagolitsa , an ancient Croatian alphabet. The alphabet was introduced in the IX century A.D. and it was used mainly for Slavic Christian masses.

First recorded apperance of Croats(Glagols) is at the beggining of 7th century A. D. The second most important event is introduction of Glagolihic alphabet in 9th century A.D. The history of the neo-glagols is still in making.

CULTURE

The official language in Glagolia is glagolithic Croatian.

It’s a derivative of Croatian language. There is no need for making a completely separate language as Glagolia shares many of it’s culture with Croatia.

GOVERNMENT & POLITICS

LAW & ORDER

Most of the things in the control of the Glagolia are divided into a Trinity. So is the Law & Order. It is divided into: •Police

•Agencies •Military

The military is the least important because of the peaecful nature of the nation. Agencies can be useful for anti-terrorist and similar causes to prevent violence and wars. Currently, the most important link in the chain of Law & Order, Police. Police is the institution responsible for peace and stability inside the nation.

15

WHAT IS NOT SHOWN ON MAPS

The supreme ruler of the country is the Emperor. He is the head of the Trinity and has two officials to complete the Trinity. The hierarchy goes: 1. Emperor 2. Generals. The Trinity has the complete control of everything inside the borders of the empire. Like the Trinity has control over the empire the Emperor has the control over his Generals.

Social, economic, or political simulations: these micronations tend to have a reasonably serious intent, and often involve significant numbers of people interested in recreating the past or simulating political or social processes. Examples include: MILITARY

ECONOMY

Glagolia currently has no imports or exports. Everything the nation needs can be found inside Glagolithic territory or bought in national markets. Currency used in the nation is Glagolithic Kuna.

Jämtland also has embassies and consulates in 17 different countries, such as China, Germany, the USA, England, Norway and Russia. In 1967, Yngve Gamlin, the president of the republic at that time, went to see the Swedish prime minister Tage Erlander about merging with Västernorrland county. Yngve was greeted at Harpsund estate by Tage as a chief of state on a state visit to Sweden. This gave Jamtland some recognition from Sweden as a free republic. This event has, however, been debated whether it should be seen as formal recognition or not.

Regerin is a small country made up by fluvial islands and riversides along Regerin and Jergen rivers, tributaries of river Douro. All of the country is surrounded by Spain. The word Regerin, which gives name to the country in germanic languages such as English and German, comes from river Regerin, where it is located. Regerin means in Ancient Visigoth “a group of tiny rivers”. This can refer to the many small tributaries of the river. In latin languages, such as French and Spanish, it is called “the Islands of the Witches” or “the Whitch Islands”. This refers to the Witch Bridge, not far of the islands.

HISTORY

The Principality was founded by Michael I, who proclaimed himself prince. Initially, it only occupied New Oland island. The increase of flow of river Regerin threatened to sink the island, so a large channel was created to avoid it, dividing New Oland. The smallest part was later called Hansland. Later, Farland, Elmland and Malarn peninsula were annexed.

20

But Michael I wanted to create a large fluvial empire. He annexed Alandsborg and conquered cape Juten and other lands around the islands. But the lords around the country didn´t allow it and they attacked Regerin. The Regerinians were defeated at the Battle of Ottenburg and they lost most of the territory conquered. Later, Alexander I of Jergenburg died, and Michael I inherited Jergenburg and its colonies: Pelagienburg and Jergerhaven. In this time, Regerinian people explored Barrilon, a wild area north of Jergerhaven, and found gold and other resources. But the other lords of the area also wanted the rich region of Barrilon. After many negotiations. The Barrilonian Commonwealth was created, it was controled and protected by all the lords. Jergenburgese people angered with Regerin. They rebeled and proclaimed the creation of the Free City of Jergenburg. The goverment decided to give them some autonomy to put down the rebelion. The Goverment conquered the entire of Barrilon again. In the eastern end of Barrilon, Kaserne (as it was called in Regerin) was located. It was a mysterious country controlled by an unknown dictator. There was a lot of tension and Regerin invaded North Kaserne, which was annexed to Barrilon. Regerin has founded some colonies. Part of Franz Joseph land, which seems to have been abandoned by Rusia, was claimed by Regerin to form the Regerinian Artic Territory. However, it was invaded by Russia in the summer of 2013 due to and incident between this country and Greenpeace. Regerin has also claims in Antartica (AMU regions 74, 75 and 76). Regerin has claims on a list of phantom or mythological

Actually, Regerin has territorial conflicts with the Principality of Juten (which claims the district of Juten) and the Templar Principalitiy of Kaserne (which claims the district of Grabenland). Since the last war with Kaserne, this principality remains occupied by the Regerinian Terrestial Force while peace agreements are made.

Soon after Viadalvia was announced, West Point and East Point stated their intentions to join. The Federation was formed on 21 July 2013, replacing the Salarian Peoples Republic. Shady Morsi was elected the first President of the Federation soon after. On 23:11 Dolmenia joined the Republic of Viadalvia. On the 11th of June the Viadalvian Civil War began. On September 1st, Viadalvia lost Alenkandar as

capital to the Klausburg rebels. Three days later Klausburg become independent from Viadalvia, and Viadalvia needed a capital. They invaded Anham (a state ruling on former territory of Hoogwaard). Viadalvia still has control over the south of Anham, however the state of Anham still exists to the north.

NEW TERRITORY

The first land claim was quite small, and the government was searching for new territories. The government found an island owned by a farm land, and it was claimed for Viadalvia. But on the 3rd of October, Viadalvia ended the claim on the Island because of a building project. Viadalvia shrank From 1440m2 to 1000m2.

GOVERNMENT

The Federal Republic of Viadalvia is governed as a republic. The system for governing the Federal Republic is outlined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Viadalvia. The President is the head of state, and appoints most government officials. The Prime Minister, appointed by the President, is the head of government. Both the President and Prime Minister serve for a term of four years. The Council of Ministers is the executive body of the Federation, and its members are appointed by the President. The Prime Minister leads the government. Political parties in Viadalvia include:

GENERAL INFORMATION The Prussian Empire is a Micronation/Seccession Movement located near the American state of Northern Illinois aswell as in the East and West Prussia. It is based on indirect democracy with a monarch with constituted powers or Constitutional Monarchy. It is based off the return of a well known macronation of 18th & 19th Centuries of Prussia, sharing the same history as her because of the goal to restore her former glory.

MEDIEVAL HISTORY Formed at the end of the 12th century in Acre, in the Levant, the medieval Order played an important role in Outremer, controlling the port tolls of Acre. After Christian forces were defeated in the Middle East, the Order moved to Transylvania in 1211 to help defend the South-Eastern borders of the Kingdom of Hungary against the Kipchaks. The Knights were expelled by force of arms by king Andrew II of Hungary in 1225, after allegedly attempting to place themselves under Papal instead of the original Hungarian sovereignty.

RENAISSANCE HISTORY

In 1515, Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I made a marriage alliance with Sigismund I of Poland-Lithuania. Thereafter the Empire did not support the Order against Poland. In 1525, Grand Master Albert of Brandenburg resigned and converted to Lutheranism, becoming Duke of Prussia as a vassal of Poland. Soon after, the Order lost Livonia and its holdings in the Protestant areas of Germany.

18TH CENTURY

On 18 January 1701, Frederick III, upgraded Prussia from a duchy to a kingdom and crowned himself King Frederick I. To avoid offending Poland, where a part of the old Prussia lay, Leopold I, emperor of the Holy Roman Empire where most of the lands of Prussia lay, allowed Frederick only to title himself “King in Prussia”, not “King of Prussia”.

19TH CENTURY In 1862 King Wilhelm I appointed Otto von Bismarck as Prime Minister of Prussia. Bismarck was determined to defeat both the liberals and conservatives and increase Prussian supremacy and influence among the German states. There has been much debate as to whether Bismarck actually planned to create a united Germany when he set out on this journey, or whether he simply took advantage of the circumstances that fell into

place. Certainly his memoirs paint a rosy picture of an idealist, but these were written with the benefit of hindsight. What is clear is that Bismarck curried support from large sections of the people by promising to lead the fight for greater German unification. He eventually guided Prussia through three wars which together brought William the position of German Emperor.

20TH CENTURY

Because of the German Revolution of 1918, Wilhelm II abdicated as German Emperor and King of Prussia. Prussia was proclaimed a “Free State within the new Wiemar Republic and in 1920 received a democratic constitution. After the Western Allies won the second world war, As part of their war aims the Western allies sought the abolition of Prussia. Stalin was initially content to retain the name, Russia having a different historical view of its neighbor and sometime former ally. Early history and evolution The oldest extant micronation to arise in modern times is the Kingdom of Redonda, founded in 1865 in the Caribbean. It failed to establish itself as a real country, but has nonetheless managed to survive into the present day as a unique literary foundation with its own king and aristocracy— although it is not without its controversies: there are presently at least four competing claimants to the Redondan throne. Although the island was ruled as a virtual fiefdom, its owner never claimed to be independent of the United Kingdom, so Lundy can at best be described as a precursor to later territorial micronations. Another example is the Principality of Outer Baldonia, a 16-acre (65,000 m2) rocky island off the coast of Nova Scotia, founded by Russell Arundel, chairman of the Pepsi Cola Company (later: PepsiCo), in 1945 and comprising a population of 69 fishermen.

Akebar (/ˈeɪkbɑr/), officially the Republic of Akebar, is a government in exile which claims to be the legitimate governing body of Akebar, a township and civil parish in North Yorkshire. It claims to be an independent sovereign state but has received no recognition from world governments. The Akebar Township is a Township in North Yorkshire, founded as a Township in 1290, however it can trace it’s roots to the 7th century when the first settlement was built. The Republic of Akebar sees itself as the successor of the Township of Akebar, establishing the Township as an independent state. The Republic also maintains several small extraterritorial claims, known as “Akebarian villas”, located in County Durham. They where formed from the remnants of the former Dradelian territory.

Ethnicity in Akebar can be divided into two categories, the ethnicity of territorial residents (including

56

registered citizens and non-registered citizens living in Akebar), and the ethnicity of registered citizens living outside of Akebar. Among both groups, English is the dominant ethnic group, however there is strong Celtic and Polish minority, with the Prime Minister being an ethnic Pole, and the President being of both English and Irish decent. Most citizens are ethnic Europeans, but with a small very Arabic minority.

First Village settlement The Region of Akebar can trace its history to the 7th Century A.D, when the first village settlement was founded. The settlement was founded by James the Deacon, a disciple of St. Paulinus, who established an early church in the Akebar area during the 7th century A.D. The Church was built in order to convert British pagans to Christianity.

Akebar became a micronation in May 2012, when it was claimed as a state by Dalton, then a micronational confederation. It was then voted to be the capital and leading state in Dalton. In the June of that year, Daltonese control over Akebar weakened as the Akebarian government wished for independence, Dalton then renounced the claim to Akebar, leaving the area divided between Mahuset, Vetria, Smallia (now Sabovia), Sierra and the Akebarian

was reported to have moved on from New Atlantis to promoting a 1,000 sq yd (840 m2) platform near the Bahamas. The new country was called “Tierra del Mar” (Land of the Sea). (Ernest Hemingway’s adopted hometown of Key West was later itself part of another micronation; see Conch Republic.) The Republic of Minerva was set up in 1972 as a libertarian new-country project by Nevada businessman Michael Oliver. Oliver’s group conducted dredging operations at the Minerva Reefs, a shoal located in the Pacific Ocean south of Fiji. They succeeded in creating a small artificial island, but their efforts at securing international recognition met with little success, and near-neighbour Tonga sent a military force to the area and annexed it.

Rebel faction (later to be the Republic of Akebar). Mahuset, Sabovia, Sierra and Vetria renounced their claims to Akebar due to pressure from Dradelia and the Akebarian republicans, leaving divided as half of Akebar as well as other surrounding areas joined Dradelia (which the ROA once shared its symbols with), and the other half remained independent. The Second Akebarian Republic was declared in July 2013, after the whole of Akebar was taken from Dradelia, uniting independent Akebar and Dradelian Akebar as one.

CULTURE

The culture of Akebar is essentially the culture which already existed in the area, therefore similar to the culture of the Wensleydale region which surrounds it. Akebar is a majority Roman Catholic area, and a farming-based community, like much of the lower Wensleydale area which surrounds it. Census data has shown that Akebar and the Lower Wensleydalre area has a more laid-back lifestyle compared to the rest of the UK, giving the area a higher than average life expectancy. Although being predominately ethically English or Irish, Akebarian republicans tend to have a more continental European outlook on life, as opposed to the typical British outlook. The island mentality often found in the UK is despised by Akebarian republican society.

Bromenia (Pronounciation: brom-ee-nee-ah;), officially the Socialist Republic of Bromenia, is a country on the Balkan Peninsula that is considered a “Micronation” by outside observers. The capital city of Dragostin is into the second year of a seven-year plan for complete renovation. Bromenia is the only country located wholly within the Pirins Mountain Range. The nation was founded by the heavily Marxist-influenced Communist leader President Вход, and is currently controlled by both Вход and the Chancellor, whom acts as a deputy-head of government as well as officially the Bromeni Ambassador to the United Kingdom. The sole political party in Bromenia is the Bromeni Workers’ Party.

When Dragostin was a part of Bulgaria, it was a thriving yet small village on the edge of a large town, Gotse Delchev. It was slowly abandoned as the nearby towns grew into more prosperous places. The history of Bromenia begins in 2013, when

62

President Вход and his chancellor were researching ghost towns, they came across Dragostin in Bulgaria. Within months, Dragostin looked promising enough to become it’s own micronation - and so the nation is now into the second year of a 7 year plan to rebuild the old town. Back in the United Kingdom, they recruited 16 other citizens into the mass which started up the need for Passports and a currency. They decided to use a rendition of the Bulgarian Lev, subsequently called the Bromeni Lev. Passports were produced for the 19 citizens and they became dual nationality of British-Bromeni. In 2014, several residents from the United Kingdom entered a permanent immigration to Bromenia, allowing full populisation of the capital city.

The President of Bromenia, Vkhod Ghespatrov, made the following statement on law in 2014; “Due to our lack of de jure control over the territory that Bromenia claims, we are weary to institute our own law until we have reached further steps towards autonomy and/or independence. We are therefore thankful to constitute Bulgarian law inside our borders until we are able to reach agreements with Bulgarian government that would ensure the future of Bromenia as a country.”
