pring flowers offer brides-to-be a wonderful array of the most delicate fragrances, gorgeous blooms in different textures, and beautiful pastel colors in pinks, creamy whites, pretty purples, yellows and peach. Even delicate blues are found in Spring. The season is fantastic for wedding flowers, from April to June, you can pick from a variety of flowers that bring elegance to your wedding. Some of these wonderful flowers, perfect for floral arrangements, stunning bridal bouquets and wedding decor include the sought after peonies, delightful stock in many colors, lilacs in purple and white, lilly of the valley, freesia, daffodil, sweet peas, and tulips. Flowering branches are in bloom and make the perfect wedding accent -- bringing a touch of the outdoors in. Cherry blossoms, dogwood and yellow forsythia branches by themselves create an eye-catching centerpiece, and make a stunning addition to an altar arrangement. For blue tones, don’t miss muscari flowers and hyacinth. Here are some trends to look for in the new season:
Dramatic and Asymmetric Bridal Bouquets: New wedding bouquet styles go far beyond the traditonal hand-tied bouquet. This season you’ll find a look we love, a dramatic look of cascading and overflowing flowers and greenery, along with a that freshly picked from the fields look. This casual look and more dramatic approach to flowers brings excitement to wedding flowers. This is specially gorgeous for a bride incorporating a Boho look accented by lace and flowy fabrics.
Headpieces made of fresh flowers, crowns and wreaths continue to make a statement. We’ve seen some combined with veils, proving a very romantic look to brides.
Greenery: garlands, all greenery decor, branches and leaves add a very organic looks to your wedding. You can accent the head table with a beautiful garland, include one on your altar decor and incorporate small boxwood wreaths in ceremony decor - delightful aisle decorations. This is a beautiful and inexpensive look, to glam it up a bit, mix it with blooms, or branches for a more rustic decor.

or a few years now, wedding decor centered around DIY, simplicity and rustic charm. This season, brides will see more luscious centerpieces along with bold texture, color and pattern in linens, lots of glittery and gold accents, and thematic decor with Old world glam complete with touches of lace and pearls. In addition, a new urban chic and industrial trends are surfacing with sleek and contemporary accents infused with artistic decor and romance. In linens, chevron patterns, glitter and sequin tablecloths, modern florals and stripes, trellis and Greek key designs in a variety of colors, can be used along or in textured layers that mix and match patterns. Napkins also make a statement as they move beyond just color to include damask and floral patterns. You can truly have fun planning your wedding decor this spring, look for yellow and pink, don’t forget Pantone’s color of the year, Radiant Orchid. This couture approach to wedding decor offers infinite possibilities when planning your wedding, with elements that represent your flair and style style.

For the past couple of years, we’ve seen a return to white and lots of lace detailing (thank you, Kate!). As we move further out of the recession and into an exciting 2014, brides and grooms are taking a few more risks and moving in a direction of realistic opulence. It’s not too over the top. It’s understated glam. It’s I-want-to-have-fun-and-I’m-not-going-tofeel-bad-about-it (does that hashtag already exist??). Here are the top five predictions that we are seeing for the new year and hope there will continue to be more of. Texture - Instead of adding more “stuff” to a cake, it can be understated yet still have lots of interest. Since we exclusively work with buttercream at our shop, we love to have fun with the look of the icing. It can be tailored or intentionally “messy”. Either way, it’s just FUN! {Amy Noelle and Sugar Flower Cake Shop}
