These customs and traditions come from the Imperial court. Apparently, the Emperor spends every day as if it is New Year. He never utters words that bring bad lack, he eats food that brings luck and wears new traditional Japanese undergarments, Fundoshi, made of silk, every day.
They clean their homes because the ready themselves to invite God home. Historically, the cleaning starts from the 13 th of December. After the house is cleaned, Kadomatsu is placed on both sides of the gate of
the house. At times Shimekazari is placed in the centre of your front door, it brings in good fortune. Culture is taken very seriously in Japan.
