with ne not to write this gig up. 3ut risking tire ana linb in the lighl of severai threats froa a certain nember of the bantt I have decictecl to do so! Qiiite honestly I tlonrt lmow what all the fuss was about. The audience reaction was virtually non-exlstant- (nainLy d.ue to a non c.xj-stant aud.ience), being na.de up largely of rocker" niro had come to see the first support s?ou?r a heavy metal band. who played only instrumentals (and I dontt h:ow their name and. I tlontt eare). But then that wasnrt the Seizets fault that they uere so na^srolt nlnded and stayecl in the rbatrr. Ancl it lra.sntt Julianrs far:lt that he broke a guitar string rhleli oausecl a ten ninute pause in the nitlttle of the set, so they ha,t problensl but r think they tlid. the best they eouid. in the circumstances and they ca:rilA otr regardless. Colinrs voioe has become even more forceful, and there wa,s more movenent fron Jrrlian (though lndy still roots hinself to one spot and refuses to rnove). The gig la.ckeri the atnosphere of their debutt but apart fron that this was an even better per.f,o::nanceo f\do new numbers were included - tFailurer, which hits you irmed.iatelywilh its catchy, repetitive chorus, and the vely strong rltts A Caneerr. Also inclutled were.rWhyt (ttre forthcoming single - buy ttt), tGrovelands Roadf, and r0ut of Ord.err. 111 they really lack is confid"tre", which, when they f.i.ntl J.tp will be the flnal ingred.iant in the naking of a fine band. And so to the Suspects. llhe last tlme we s'aw them we were not very inpreBsett, but, although they are elearl-y not a verSr together banctr tonight was nr:ch better. They rely very heavlly on cover versions to fill their set, but they clo have a. few good originals up their sleeves as well. Theyrre a good band. to lratch and worth catching on the righ_t night if you get the chance. 2.

Chrie, however seems to be able to wrLte fairly well- on hl-s own as this French inport 12I D.P. bears witness as all 5 tracks contained hereon are written by trln. Sinple Love is the opening traek, and it is instantly obvl, ous that the Saints are stickq -lng to their orlglnaL fo:muLa of good, catchy Rock mueic. The vocalg are smooth and ronantic but tough, the nuslc very derivatlve wlth really eLectric guitar ptaying which ceasec durLng the verse to leave soft background rhythm. (Dontt Send Me)Roses ls again. narked by excellent and catctry guLtar, J.t is again of a sl.ow tempo, but more abrasivet with a much softer chorus. Ulss'Wonderful is much more powerfuL a,ntl forceful, held together by a consta^nt bass line, with sudcten volleys of piercing guitar, very clean sound. the vocals a"re much rougher, sneering, but not Just coarse yelling, and the song is built around, a realJ.y" good chorus.
