PANELISTS Ben Applegate?? Meg Cabot is an award-winning author. Her books for adults, teens and tweens have included multiple #1 New York Times bestsellers, selling well over 25 million copies worldwide. Cabot's Princess Diaries series has been published in more than 38 countries and was made into two hit films by Disney. She is also the author of the popular Mediator series and the Heather Wells mystery series. Meg was born in Indiana during the Chinese astrological year of the Fire Horse, a notoriously unlucky sign, but has been working hard ever since to give herself a happy ending. She currently lives in Key West with her husband. Meg Cabot’s first middle-grade graphic novel, Black Canary: Ignite from DC Zoom, will be released this October. AJ Dungo is an illustrator from Florida. He studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, and his work has been shown in several group exhibitions in New York and LA. His work strives to create interesting atmospheres and feelings that viewers can have a reaction to. He lives in LA. Justin Eisinger is Editorial Director, Graphic Novels & Collections for IDW Publishing, where he has spent more than twelve years immersed in graphic storytelling. Following a fateful encounter with March author and Civil Rights pioneer Congressman John Lewis, Eisinger turned his experience adapting television episodes and film towards bringing engaging non-fiction stories to readers. Kami Garcia is the #1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling coauthor of the Beautiful Creatures novels, which have been published in 50 countries and 38 languages. She is also the author of five solo novels, including two Bram Stoker Award nominees. Her forthcoming graphic novel Teen Titans: Raven, illustrated by artist Gabriel Piccolo, is the first title in her Teen Titans series for DC Ink. Find Kami online at kamigarcia.com. Malaka Gharib is an artist, journalist, and writer based in Washington, D.C. She is the founder of The Runcible Spoon, a food zine, and the co-founder of the D.C. Art Book Fair. She lives in a row house with her husband Darren and her 9-year-old rice cooker.
PANELISTS Tom King is a comic book writer and novelist, best known for his work at DC Comics including Batman, Mr. Miracle, and The Omega Men. Tom King won Eisner Awards for Best Writer for his work on Mister Miracle, Batman, and Marvel's Vision. He often relies on his experience as an exCIA agent and experiences during the recent conflicts in the Middle East in his writing. King joined the CIA counter terrorism unit after September 11 where he stayed for seven years before writing his first novel A Once Crowded Sky. His latest work with DC, Heroes in Crisis: The Price and Other Tales, will be released this October. Minh Lê is the author of the picture books Drawn Together (illustrated by Dan Santat) and Let Me Finish! (illustrated by Isabel Roxas), and has written for the New York Times, the Horn Book Review, and the Huffington Post. Green Lantern: Legacy is his first graphic novel. A firstgeneration Vietnamese-American, during the day Minh is a national early childhood policy expert who went to Dartmouth College and has a master's in education from Harvard University. Outside of spending time with his beautiful wife and sons in their home near Washington, D.C., Minh's favorite place to be is in the middle of a good book. Kirk Scroggs is an author-illustrator best known for the Snoop Troop books, It Came From Beneath the Playground, and Attack of the Ninja Potato Clones, as well as the series Tales of a Sixth-Grade Muppet and Wiley & Grampa's Creature Features. Mark Siegel has written and illustrated several award-winning picture books and graphic novels, including the New York Times bestseller Sailor Twain and Oskar and the Eight Blessings. Mariko Tamaki is a Canadian writer living in Oakland. Mariko’s works include New York Times bestseller This One Summer and Skim with Jillian Tamaki, Emiko Superstar with Steve Rolston, and the YA novel (You) Set Me on Fire. This One Summer was the winner of Printz and Caldecott Honors in 2015 and received the Eisner Award for Best Graphic Album (New).
