AUTHORS Jill Santopolo received a B.A. in English literature from Columbia University and an MFA in writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. She's the author of The Light We Lost and The Shape of Our Words, as well as three successful children’s and young adult series, and works as the Associate Publisher of Philomel Books, an imprint of Penguin Young Readers group. Jill travels the world to speak about writing and storytelling. She lives in New York City.
Valeria Luiselli was born in Mexico City and grew up in South Korea, South Africa and India. An acclaimed writer of both fiction and nonfiction, she is the author of the essay collection Sidewalks; the novels Faces in the Crowd and The Story of My Teeth; and, most recently, Tell Me How It Ends: An Essay in Forty Questions. She is the winner of two Los Angeles Times Book Prizes and an American Book Award, and has twice been nominated for the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Kirkus Prize. She has been a National Book Foundation "5 Under 35" honoree and the recipient of a Bearing Witness Fellowship from the Art for Justice Fund. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, Granta, and McSweeney's, among other publications, and has been translated into more than twenty languages. She lives in New York City.
AUTHORS Charles A. Gardener retired as a Regional Training Lieutenant from the New York State Department of Corrections with an unblemished twenty-five year career. He was the liaison between the administrations of the dozen prisons located in Northern New York and the New York State Department of Corrections Training Academy in Albany, NY. He managed the training of nearly 5,000 security and civilian staff members employed at the “north country” prisons. Gardner attended the State University of New York at Potsdam, New York.
Andrea Bartz is a Brooklyn-based journalist and coauthor of the blog-turned-book Stuff Hipsters Hate (Ulysses Press, 2010), which The New Yorker called "depressingly astute." Her work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Marie Claire, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Women's Health, Martha Stewart Living, Redbook, Elle, and many other outlets, and she's held editorial positions at Glamour, Psychology Today, and Self, among other publications.
Joanne Ramos was born in the Philippines and moved to Wisconsin when she was six. She graduated with a B.A. from Princeton University. After working in investment banking and private-equity investing for several years, she became a staff writer at The Economist. She currently serves on the board of The Moth. She lives in New York City with her husband and three children.

Helen Ellis is the acclaimed author of American Housewife and Eating the Cheshire Cat. She is a poker player who competes on the national tournament circuit. Raised in Alabama, she lives with her husband in New York City.
