WHO IS CUTTER BOY? The adventures of Cutter Boy began in the summer of 2010 at the Felt Hat in Portland, Oregon. The Felt Hat is a design firm that was willing to take a chance on a young intern, fresh off his first year in the design program at Grand Valley State University. As with any internship, there was a lot of grunt work to do around the shop, particularly cutting borders off of pages to piece together a proof of a larger image. One day, a Principal of the firm asked to have some papers trimmed and tiled. A Senior Designer overheard and yelled out, “That’s all you, Cutter Boy.” The legend was born.

FROM THE MIDWEST TO THE WEST COAST AND BEYOND After 18 years growing up in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan and another two just outside of Grand Rapids to study graphic design, the opportunity to travel across the country for an internship seemed too good to be true. With little more than a suitcase and a plane ticket, the adventure had begun. At the time, Portland was of particular interest to Cutter Boy because he could live with his Aunt for free. They had only met once before, but family always comes through when you need them. Then she moved to Florida.
