ADAMS HALL RENOVATION: Finance Division

Management Information Systems Division Additional Funding Opportunities

A LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE For 90 years, the Michael F. Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma has provided students and faculty a competitive edge in creating innovative solutions to the greatest business issues of our time. Price College offers programs that deliver the financial, technological and leadership credentials demanded by today’s global enterprises. Constructed in 1936, the original Business Administration Building was later named after Dean Arthur Barto Adams in 1952. Extensions to the building were completed in 1964, and

minor updates have been made to the original building over the past many decades. As the future home to both the Division of Finance and the Division of Management Information Systems, the third floor of Adams Hall will serve as a hub for student and faculty research, collaboration and achievement. To grow the college by attracting the best and brightest students and faculty, we must upgrade offices, classrooms and study spaces to meet the expectations of a 21st-century business education.

AN OPPORTUNITY TO OPTIMIZE Following the completion of Phase I (“Purpose x Energy = Impact”) of its long-term capital campaign, Price College is Continuing the Climb in Phase II. Today, Price College stands at the intersection of industry and the academe. Time and again, we depend on our alumni, friends and corporate supporters to co-invest with us to prepare the leaders needed for Oklahoma and beyond. Gifts to the campaign fuel the initiatives that promote a culture of excellence and broad access to educational advancement.

The doors of opportunity swing wide open for any student with a desire to learn, achieve and succeed in the college’s increasingly rigorous academic and professional development programs. By upgrading core classrooms and the offices of the divisions of Finance and Management Information Systems, we can centralize division offices, improve faculty retention and provide students world-class facilities for academic performance.

“We excitedly look forward to housing the Price College’s largest division in a single location. The newly renovated Finance suite will provide a welcoming space to students and help to promote satisfaction, collegiality and collaboration among faculty and students that leads to both planned and unplanned benefits.”

“Along with the many recent successes of the Finance Division, building a state-of-the-art space is a key next step to our strategic vision. With space comes ‘place’ and with place comes the ability for faculty and students to come together to create and collaborate in ways that are simply not possible otherwise.”

Chitru S. Fernando, Ph.D. Director, Division of Finance

Guy L. Patton (’83, ’85) President, OU Foundation Chair, Finance Division Board of Advisors

“It means a lot, because we’ve seen other majors that have their own place to hang out, but the Finance majors, which have doubled over the past few years, need a place for people to come together and network.”

“Dean Pullin is always talking about ensuring the global competitiveness of Oklahoma and the nation. There’s no better way to ensure that commitment than to guarantee a top facility for Finance students. This upgrade is a great idea because it creates a place to facilitate more interaction and collaboration between finance students and faculty.”

Joseph Albert Finance & Accounting Senior (’19) President, Finance Student Association

Alex Frankenfeld Finance Alum (’18) Outstanding Finance Senior and Commencement Student Speaker, Spring 2018

“Collaborative work spaces are key to innovation, productivity and growth in an academic unit. With strong support from business partners through the Center of MIS Studies, the MIS Division is always inventive, has top-ranked programs in information systems and is globally noted for excellence in research. Workspace renovation is critical for faculty and students to seamlessly interact and continue to develop new ideas in teaching and research.”

Radhika Santhanam, Ph.D. Director, Division of Management Information Systems

“When I graduated as an MIS major, I was surprised at how well the program set me up for success. The program gave me unique skills that allowed me to be productive and make an impact quickly. It set a foundation for a career that I love.”

Brian Letzkus (’91) VP and CIO, Williams Immediate Past Chair, Center for MIS Studies Board of Advisors

“The Price College MIS faculty and staff do a tremendous job of partnering with their stakeholders. They go beyond acting as educators and also know how to forge strong and mutually beneficial relationships with their students and the larger business and civic community.”

“Being involved in the MIS program at OU has not only instilled both a curiosity for data and a passion for problem solving, it has prepared me for a meaningful career using technology. The renovations will allow other students the opportunity to improve their skills and find their passion, as I did.”

Cathy Tompkins SVP IT & CIO (ret.), Chesapeake Energy Corp. CMISS Board of Advisors
