Hmong New Year is the biggest cultural event within the Hmong community which marks the end of another year of hard work and a time for giving thanks. Experience this traditional Japanese ceremony, where participants light floating paper lanterns to guide the spirits of the nonliving and honor their memory. Traditionally, this Japanese ceremony honors the memory of loved ones. During the festival of Obon, it is believed that ancestors come back to spend time with the living.
