SIMPLE
DRESS IT UP
“I began with a clean background using some mixed media techniques and simple layering of papers and flower embellishments.”
“To dress up this layout, I added a variety of smaller flowers to fill in the gaps, as well as some vines. I also ripped and distressed the paper a bit to give it a more complete look.”

PRIMA TRULY IS ALL ABOUT FLOWERS!
“GORGEOUS”
Stacey Young (AuStRALiA) “I absolutely love Prima flowers, I have been a long time lover of them, I even have some vintage Prima in my stash. Prima has branched out into other areas these days but my favorites will always be the flowers. I have 3 little boys but that doesn’t stop me from using them on everything!!! This layout though seemed a perfect fit for my best friend’s baby girl. I love these colors (I have been using them alot lately), one would say I am addicted.”

“FAIRY TAGS” Cari Fennell (uSA)
For these tags, I cut out the Fairies from the 12 x 12 papers in the Fairy Rhymes collection. Then they were mounted to the large tags that are covered in coordinating papers from the collection.I used foam tape to adhere the cut out images. I then stamped sentiments onto paper and framed them with the Newsprint frames. The frames were added to the flower clusters. I finshed off each tag with lace and silk ribbon to pull in the copper color and add a bit of texture to the overall look.

“HELLO LOVELY” Leslie Ashe (USA)
“The colors in the Hello Pastel collection were my inspiration for my layout. I decided to do a soft, ‘rainbow like’ effect with mists & the Donna Downey stencil and let some of my mist drip in a ‘not-so-perfect’ fashion down my page. Adding the flowers from Hello Pastel and other elements really set off my black and white photo I used. Little Ella Jade just pops off this page!”

WHAT IS IT? HOW DO YOU DO IT?
A Step-by-Step for multiple mixed media projects.
“A DAY”
Louise nelson (AuStRALiA) For me, mixed media in scrapbooking quite simply means the use of more than one medium in the creation of my project/ layout. This is ‘the’ distinction for me. It isn’t just that other media techniques are used, it is the use of additional mediums; products, like gesso, paint, organic elements, fibers etc., in contrast to the predominant use of mainstream paper crafting products. I utilize both mixed media and mediums in the creation of my layouts, although probably not to the extent that most would believe to be representative of mixed media artists. I tend to have a minimalist approach style wise and therefore I tend to be selective about the combination of products and techniques I use to achieve the ‘look’ I want, to showcase my photo(s) and memories. There are times when I take the time to select mediums and techniques that will help ‘tell the story’ and there are other times where they are less important and more about me just having some creative fun, and/or experimenting. With my layout, ‘a Day…’, it was very much about choosing media and mediums to help tell ‘the story’. I can appreciate that this isn’t obvious but I will briefly explain as I describe the creative steps in creating this layout. What was foremost in my mind was achieving subtle visual elegance, befitting the memory of my godsons wedding, with a masculine touch! If the photo focus had been his beautiful bride, then I would have taken a more feminie and traditional wedding theme approach, [yes I am slightly conservative].

Just pop your die over a folded piece of card with a bit of the die overhanging the folded edge. This will cut the main shape, leaving the fold still ‘square’. kasia krzyminska My name is Kasia Krzyminska, however in the scrap world I use my nickname Czekoczyna (or Czeko to make it shorter). I’m 22 years old and I live in Warsaw, Poland. I am pharmacist and I really enjoy it. But I am also a bit of an artistic soul – I’m searching for a inspiration everywhere and everyday – in music, nature, old books, bad weather, dreams… I love summer, meadows and beautiful notebooks. I started scrapbooking in 2010 and loved it from that moment on. Now I am addicted to scrapping and everything that comes with it. When I create I use a lot of fabrics, embellishments, paints and lace. I love mixedmedia and balanced colors. I adore adding layers and texture to my layouts. I would describe my style as delicate, maybe a little vintage but I also like to learn some new techniques.

“GREAT MOTHER” kasia krzyminska (PoLAnd)
To celebrate the Mother’s Day I decided to frame this beautiful old photograph of my great grandmother. She was an extraordinary woman, devoted to her family, protecting, hard working, with a warm personality, kindhearted and open to others. I never had the honor to know her, she died before I was born, but I know much about her from my mother and grandmother. I know that Henryka was definitely a great mother of our whole family. I decided to use beautiful Prima paper from the Lifetime collection as a base. I added some gorgeous embelishments and flowers just to describe how much my great grandmother means to me.
