Pang’s works play with the movement and smoothness of the surface. Pang is an artist who does not approach the metallic surface with an already accurate picture of how the work will be. Through the use of hands and other instruments, he extends the paint and the alkyl-resin on the aluminum. The technique used to spread the color does not aim to make a dough or to give a sense of three-dimensionality, but rather the color and the representation help to unfold the images.

“In the greater context of the exhibition I fall back on a few things; namely, inanimate objects with a sense of presence or personality. I think of them as hints left behind by someone expectant, perhaps an anonymous lover/romantic, leaving these signs for a particular person, perhaps a soulmate, an audience or a viewer. “ Ruben Pang -14 February 2018
