Liebherr’s new A 924 Litronic rail excavator.
WORKING TODAY FOR TOMORROW’S SOLUTIONS
SINCE THE 1960S, LIEBHERR HAS BEEN KNOWN AS A PIONEER IN HIGH-QUALITY, BREAKTHROUGH INNOVATIONS, LEADING IN THE MANUFACTURING OF HI-RAIL EXCAVATORS AS PART OF ITS EXTENSIVE CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY PORTFOLIO.
BASED IN KIRCHDORF AN DER
ILLER, a town in the south-western German state of Baden-Württemberg, the company’s rail excavators and many sub-components are manufactured to the highest quality standards.
Liebherr has decades of experience in the development and production of class-leading machines, and with their passion, freedom and visionary mindset, engineers at Liebherr continue creating fascinating solutions and setting new machinery standards.
Utilising innovative design and major components all produced by the company itself, Liebherr machines work with immense power, and advanced technology reduces fuel consumption, enhances performance, productivity and delivers maximum precision, outstanding performance, and exceptional durability.
THE A 924 RAIL LITRONIC
The new release from the manufacturer is the A 924 Rail Litronic, which combines strong performance with a high level of economy. Drawing on the company’s extensive experience and consistent product development pipeline, the A 924 Rail Litronic delivers the best performance yet in a user-friendly configuration.
Running on a 120 kW/161 HP at 1900 rpm machine engine, the A 924 Rail Litronic delivers higher working speeds and smooth operation. The powerful Liebherr D924 diesel engine
protects the environment and its resources by means of reduced fuel consumption and reduced emissions.
Combining power and dynamic properties, this all-rounder machine is the efficient solution for use on all rail projects as well as construction sites which require stable power, strength, and precision to deliver higher productivity and mobile flexibility.
The A 924 Rail Litronic is a dualpurpose machine that can be used on the road or on railway tracks. The railgoing gear is mounted on both sides of the undercarriage.
When the machine is put on rail tracks, the rail guide is lowered one axle at a time until the internal wheels of the twin tyres make contact with the rail wheel and provide the friction connection for the travel drive.
The separate hydraulic pump in the closed slewing circuit only supplies hydraulic fluid to the swing mechanism. The maximum delivery volume is thus available at any time for turning the upper carriage for fast and dynamic rotational movements.
The Liebherr joysticks enable the operator to intuitively, and sensitively control the Liebherr hydraulic system to complete even the most challenging tasks quickly.
Typical functions and features include standard gauge 4’8” for undercarriage, automotive driving using accelerator pedal, cruise control function: storage of variable accelerator pedal positions, both offroad, on-road and on-rail, and manual or automatic hydraulically controlled front axle oscillation lock. Buttons on the joysticks, which the operator can configure, deliver additional convenience and functions.
The A 924 is designed with the rail worker in mind. The double cab provides user friendliness and comfort with a modern interior design and roll-over protective structure to ensure the operator is safe. Vision of the working area is supported by a generous use of glass as well as rear and side cameras as standard.
The touchscreen colour display as well as the other control elements on the console and the comfort operator’s seat are ideally and ergonomically coordinated with each other, forming a perfect unit.
Ease of maintenance has also been built into the A 924 Rail Litronic. The service- oriented machine design guarantees short maintenance times and minimises the maintenance costs.
To achieve emissions standard Tier 4f, Liebherr employs an innovative selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, developed in-house with the aim of effectively reducing exhaust emissions without any compromise in performance.
QUALITY AND COMPETENCE
Liebherr’s product experience, its understanding of technical design and feedback from customers, along with sales and service, form the basis for the use of pioneering ideas and have always been an integral part of the company’s recipe for success.
In addition, Liebherr has been delivering great production depth and system solutions for decades. Key components such as the diesel engine, electronic components, slewing ring, slewing drive and hydraulic cylinders are developed and manufactured within the company’s own workshops. The great production depth guarantees the highest quality possible and allows the components to be coordinated perfectly.
Besides the performance and efficiency, the safety of the operator and the machine must always be paramount.
Numerous equipment features such as the standard pipe break protection on the lifting and stick cylinders, electronic height limitation, overload warning system, impactresistant laminated safety glass, rollover protection system (ROPS) and an emergency exit through the rear window provide maximum safety in all operations.
As a technology leader, Liebherr has mastered key technologies so that it can offer its customers tailor-made solutions.
The company always places its focus on customer satisfaction, and this high level of customer focus doesn’t just extend to the company’s products but also to services that truly make a difference.
Liebherr pursues one goal: to continually impress its customers by generating added value and pushing past the limits of what was previously thought possible.
