Korean tractor manufacturer TYM says its new compact model is a quiet operator with enough grunt to get the job done

TYM’s new compact T265 tractor might only have 24.5 horsepower (18kW) and a quiet 1,175cc engine, but its Australian distributor Inlon says the model packs a mighty punch for its size. Inlon sales and marketing manager Gary Surman says the T265 comes from a tractor manufacturer renowned for high quality products that are backed by heavy research and development investment. “The TYM T265 tractor is like a compact on steroids because it has a strong 865kg dry weight and will push, lift and pull more than sub compact tractors,” he says. “In fact, the powerful three-point linkage will lift 700kg, which ensures compatibility with most farm implements.” On top of this, the tractor has two separate hydraulic systems with plenty of flow for implements and attachments, plus independent rear and mid power take offs to allow the operation of rotary hoes, slashers and mid mount mowers. “The hydrostatic transmission [HST] has two ranges with two independent side-by-side HST pedals for forward and reverse, giving advanced ergonomic operation,” Surman says. “With the brake pedals located on the opposite side of the HST pedals, you can use your brakes for ‘brake assist turning’ when required for extra tight manoeuvring.” The tractor also has oil immersed disc braking and wide industrial tyres for extra stability and traction for slopes and front-end loader work. It also comes with new features including a level-lift quickhitch loader and 4-in-1 bucket as well as new lighting and an instrumentation panel. “The operator has a semi-flat unobstructed platform with excellent entry clearance from either side, while a sleekly styled bonnet gives excellent visibility of the bucket.” Now for sale through Inlon for $22,990 (including GST), the tractor also comes with a three-year warranty plan for peace of mind, Surman says.

Honda will replace the smallest side-by-side in its line-up with a new model, equipped with a larger engine and cargo bed but keeping its narrow width

Anew Honda side-by-side with a more powerful engine and improved cargo bed will make its Australian debut in 2021. It is understood the Honda Pioneer 520, which will replace the Pioneer 500 in the company’s side-by-side line-up, will arrive down under in the second quarter of 2021 – though this date is yet to be confirmed. Honda MPE Australia general manager of motorcycles Tony Hinton says the 500 proved that a compact unit could have an impressive performance. “For 2021, the Pioneer 520 features a larger engine and a dump bed, but it retains the 1,270mm width and 1,855mm wheelbase that have made it so popular,” he says. “Whether customers are looking for an entry-level side-by-side, moving from an ATV, or just seeking a vehicle that can work hard without taking up a lot of room, the Pioneer 520 should be at the top of their list.” Like the Pioneer 500, the 520 is 1,270mm wide, allowing the vehicle to drive in narrow space and even be loaded onto the bed of some utes, while its 217mm ground clearance height is great for uneven terrain. Among the changes Honda has made to the new model is a 518cc displacement engine – 43cc larger than the 500 and the largest in its class – with improved shock damping and front and rear suspension. Honda says the engine is the same used in its TRX250 series, but tuned for a side-by-side application and with a wider bore, which it says helps offer an increased low-tomidrange power and torque. Power is fed directly to front and rear driveshafts, with no belt drive to maintain, and the air cleaner and battery box are easily accessed by lifting the bed. The Pioneer 520 has a five-speed transmission with automatic and manual modes, and two and four wheel drive are selectable on-the-fly via an easy-to-reach dash-mounted knob. Measuring 658mm x 983mm x 249mm, the new 204kg capacity cargo bed has D-ring anchors and cut-outs to accept multiple objects, and has 10 latches to accept Honda Pro-Connect accessories, including racks, cargo boxes and more. Its towing capacity is 454kg.
