back in black Built on the body of Goldacres’ iconic sprayers, the Atrac M-Series tractor range is proving adept in fertiliser spreading as well
D
emand is high for Goldacres’ tractor range, just about one year after the product’s official launch, with many taking advantage of its spreader-friendly design. Goldacres released its M Series of multi-purpose tractors under its Atrac brand last year, using some features and components from its existing self-propelled sprayer platform. Currently comprising the M4, based on the Goldacres G4 self-propelled sprayer, and the M8, based on the G8 sprayer, the tractors boast a black and white livery – compared with the company’s traditional green. Both the M8 and M4 prototypes have been built and have spreader bodies manufactured and fitted. The cab/chassis units are now available. The M4 has a 160 horsepower (119kW) Cummins engine offering a high clearance of 1,400mm and a 6.5 tonne carrying capacity, as well as an optional four-wheel drive that can be disengaged at the flick of a switch. The M8 has an 817mm clearance with a 3m track and four wheel drive, alongside a 260hp (194kW) Cummins six-cylinder engine with an Allison 3000 series six-speed automatic transmission with electronic push button selector. Marketed as a multi-purpose tractor, the Atrac M series models were built primarily as a platform to mount fertiliser spreader bodies, Goldacres says – though it adds that the possibilities are endless. Nonetheless, customers and dealers wanting to adapt the
tractors for spreading will need to arrange a spreader body or suitable attachment to be fitted from a third party. To assist with this, Goldacres says it has formed a good relationship with Ballarat-based Southern Spreaders, which can tailor its installations to suit individual customers’ requirements.
