EVAN ROBERT GARWOOD Aug. 10, 1925 - Nov. 15, 2009 I had a great father. I know that I can speak for my brother and five sisters in expressing how thankful that we are for having such a great dad. He was a great example in character and integrity. We were unconditionally loved and accepted. I am especially thankful for how Dad and Mom made sure that during our “growing up years” we were given opportunity to be with people and in places where good influences were present. I never thought that the day I buried my Dad would be a great day, but it was. As family and friends shared how Dad had such a positive impact on their lives it was indeed a celebration of his life. He was an encourager in his own way and I think believed in me more than I believed in myself. While certainly not perfect, my Dad has been a reflection of my Heavenly Father and His attributes. THANKS DAD! We look forward to being there with you some day based on the promise of I John 5:11-13.

Hi Dennis, We are looking for two bulls but have limi ted budget to work with. You represented your cows honestly to us and by you telling us about some [possible] genetic problems that we were clueless abou t we have decided to come back to your sale. It is not a short trip for us but we want the same kind of quality that we got from the cows we purchased from you in 2008. We have been waiting anxiousl y for the catalog to come out. We did get a copy of your female sale but knew that trying to get two bulls we could not purc hase any females this year. Thanks so much for being so honest with us. Sincerely, Dee Kobbe Farson, WY

HB/3GHS – e most popular and genetically complete son of GVC Statesman that we have produced to date, GVC Suh 01W will play a large role in the improvement of our herd going forward. A standout since birth, Suh 01W, has exploded with power and breeding potential and is one of the most exciting Maine-Anjou bull prospects we have been around. His sire has le his valuable legacy on the breed through his numerous top-producing and top-performing offspring, and this is the homozygous black son we have been waiting on. Suh 01W offers a perfectly optimum EPD profile blended with near-flawless phenotype on a very moderate and easy-fleshing ame score. Like his winning namesake, Suh 01W, explodes with muscle and ruggedness om every angle. We have extreme confidence in his abilities as a sire of the future and, because of this we are retaining full interest to use in our herd. Due to the extreme interest in Suh, we have elected to offer semen packages in lieu of public semen sales. We quickly sold several of the packages but elected to retain two for this sale. ese will be the final opportunity to access Suh 01W genetics other than progeny sales until 2012.

Congratulations, Dennis!

The 2009 AMAA “Maine Man of the Year” Dennis Garwood - Green Valley Cattle

Announced at this year’s American Maine-Anjou Association Annual Membership Meeting, the prestigious “Maine Man of the Year” recipient goes to Dennis Garwood, Green valley Cattle. The Garwood family has long been a trusted name in the Maine-Anjou seed stock business. The GvC herd prefix is very prevalent in a host of Maine-Anjou pedigrees across the country. One of the core philosophies of Green valley Cattle has been to produce solid black, polled Maine-Anjou cattle that carry a solid maternal background in their pedigree along with the structure and performance to excel in the commercial industry. While tailoring cattle to the commercial mainstream Green valley Cattle has maintained the phenotypic design and maturity level to attract a strong clientele for their show quality females and herd sire prospects. The American Maine-Anjou Association is proud to add Dennis Garwood and Green valley Cattle to the historic list of past Maine Man of the Year award winners. By John Boddicker, American Maine-Anjou Association Executive Vice-President

GVC Bulls… Raised Right and Built For the Long Haul!

- Green Valley Maine-Anjou Bulls Three Exceptional Sons of GVC Jazzmyn…

Lot 1 - From the embryo program and the same phenomenally successful, foundation donor as our syndicated sires of success, GVC Statesman and GVC Law Man this impressive trio of herd-movers are backed by the strength of their National Western Champion dam and a long list of successful siblings that guarantee their value as contributors to any program. eir Green Valley donor dam ranks as the most successful and influential female we have bred yet with 15 sons sold in previous Big Picture Sire Sales and more than $80,000 in progeny sales with most females retained. Her sons, like GVC Statesman whose revenue is not included in this total and whose progeny include most of the recent NWSS Champions, rank as some of the most consistent breeding bulls the breed has known. Daughters of Jazzmyn 001L are rising to the top of the crowd as well with several top progeny including GVC Fortune & Glory, the $22,000 second top-seller of our 2009 sire sale. ese bulls were produced om the same flush that yielded GVC Passionette 062W, the top-selling heifer of our 2009 female sale to Jerry Barber, Canada. We recommend them to anyone seeking consistent quality, calving-ease, and maternal strength.

RC/HS – e natural calf om the powerful 415P donor, this bull is exceptional. He reminds us of his impressive donor dam that helped him to record one of the heaviest 205-day weights in the entire crop of Maine-Anjou bulls despite being one of the youngest. McCoy 010W is special for many reasons. His perfect profile, ideal shoulder and head shape, flawless structure, and great hair make him a certain sire of show winners plus his added performance and proven pedigree makes him a real beef bull. Our Formation 60C progeny continue to impress us with their low birth weights, strong growth, and consistent quality. is bull is excellent – maybe the best one we have raised yet – and his productive dam adds to his value as a top improvement prospect. He is extra thick and deep ribbed with an easy-doing, correct design and tremendous capacity. His maternal brothers include GVC C044 019T that sold in 2008 to Fred Cronk, NE, for $3,750, and GVC Formation 027U that sold to Allen Oseka, NE, for $2,000. Be sure to find this one!
