Star Close Up
Nigeria’s biggest musical export after Fela
R
eminiscing back on the 18th of October, 2004 at the posh studio extension of the upscale record label, QUESTION MARK RECORDS, where I had gone to meet Darey Art Alade who had just returned from Project Fame Africa 1. I met this very diminutive, confident and self-effacing young lady who would later be known as ASA. That fateful day, she was working assiduously with the legendary Cobhams Asuquo, trying to match mix “Eiye Adaba”, her introduction track, which I later listened to as well as three other tracks produced by the multi-talented producer. I was captivated from the first moment that I had to exchange contacts with her. I felt the might in her voice; the blurry picture of a larger personae. I knew she was going to be very big and when it began to unfold years after, I wasn't surprised to say the least. She is comfortable singing in Yoruba, English and French. She has carved a niche for herself in the Nigerian music industry as the most revered female artiste, with her blend of soul, folk, jazz, hip hop and even reggae. This same encounter produced the first treatise on ASA, which was published in August edition of DEEPLY MAGAZINE and later, Vanguard Entertainment in October of that same year. The saying that “A goldfish has no hiding place”, describes the transition of this Nigeria's biggest musical export. This edition gives insight to the background and life of the queen of eclectic afro-centric music, who is gradually building alternative sounds with her French production infusion. Here are some of the things you need to know about Bukola Elemide a.k.a “ Asa”: w w w. d e e p l y u r b a n . c o m / / 0 4
EARLY LIFE Born as Bukola Elemide, Asa was born in Paris, France to her Nigerian parents. Her family returned to live in Nigeria when she was two. Asa grew up partly in Alagbole and partly in Festac, Lagos, the southwestern part of Nigeria. She is the only girl child amongst her siblings. While in pursuit of educational excellence, she idolized musical acts like Erykah Badu, D'Angelo, Raphael Saadiq, Lauryn Hill, Femi Kuti and Angélique Kidjo, and dreamt of following their footsteps. At age 18, Asa was very familiar with frustration; the university was on strike and the choirs were snubbing her. During these frustrating times, Asa would lock herself up in her room and sing. According to her, this was very comforting. She managed to get her voice heard on a few radio talent shows; her first applause brought her boundless pleasure. She then signed up in secret at Peter King's School of Music and learned to play the guitar in 6 months. Her singing Yoruba songs differently, attracted more Yoruba people and Nigerians at large to her music. The desire to sing came to her and did not go away, carving out a permanent place in her soul. She preferred singing to talking, improvising endlessly until her mother made her stop. Over the years, her father built up a fine collection of records, featuring soul classics and Nigerian music including; Marvin Gaye, Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, Aretha Franklin, King Sunny Adé, Ebenezer Obey and Lagbaja and Asa went on to draw inspiration from them. In 2004 Asa met her manager and friend, Janet, who introduced her to Cobhams Emmanuel Asuquo, who later became her
musical partner and producer. He helped her find her niche: songs in English and Yoruba, music falling somewhere between pop and soul, inspired by her musical heritage and reflecting the feeling she puts into it. At a stage in her life, Asa finally returned to Paris. This was her chance to test out her talent on the French musical scene, playing with other artists. In the meantime, back in Nigeria, her first two singles, "Eiye Adaba," and "Jailer," were beginning to get air play. Asa soon signed up with Naïve Records; partnered with Cobhams and with the new involvement of Christophe Dupouy, she produced her first album, “Asa”. The release of the album saw Asa win the prestigious French Constantin Award in 2008, where she was voted best fresh talent out of 10 singers by a jury of 19 music-industry specialists in Paris. Her second album “Beautiful Imperfection”, was released on October 25, 2010. The lead single from Beautiful Imperfection is titled "Be My Man" and was released in late September while the video was released in mid-October. Speaking in January 2011 to noted UK soul writer Pete Lewis – Assistant Editor of Blues & Soul – about her second album, Asa stated: “Beautiful Imperfection” basically represents the way I see life. The name actually came about from an interview I did about a year ago. I was asked to describe my life and my reply was, “well, its really beautiful- but at the same time it's imperfect!... and what I realized from that is that I actually like the imperfection! I like the little surprises that life gives you because I feel it humbles you and makes you think!".

Entrepreneurship
Start-Up
Story:
STEPHEN SENGHOR Stephen Senghor– Founder, Groupe Senghor
A
s part of their contribution to SME (Small-Medium Enterprise) development in Africa, First Bank of Nigeria Limited has once again distinguished iteself; showing their unreserved interest and support for entrepreneurship by being the sponsors of African Start-Up. African Start-Up is a First Bank of Nigeria Limited collaboration with CNN to give Nigeria and Africa a voice and a platform to showcase our creativity, our resilience and our passion. African Start-Up brings stories of entrepreneurs across Africa showcasing the business concepts of various African start-up entrepreneurs as a way of motivating other Africans to follow suit in realizing their individual dreams, especially African youths who need to engage themselves in entrepreneurial activities to boost the economy of their various countries. In this edition, we bring to you, the inspirational story of an African Start-Up entrepreneur, Stephen Senghor- the man who turns trash into cash. Mr. Stephen Senghor, a young man of 37 is the grandnephew of Senegal's first president Léopold Sédar Senghor; men with his family name often venture into politics but this was not to be Stephen Senghor's calling. He was a banker in Montreal, Canada but got bored so he quit his job, relocated back to his home country and started an upcycling and sustainable development company in Petit Mbao- a coastal community on the outskirts of Senegal's capital- Dakar. There he collects discarded waste and with it, w w w. d e e p l y u r b a n . c o m / / 0 6
provides a number of sustainable solutions. "When waste is on the ground, nobody sees them but I see them and I see the value in them." He calls his start-up Groupe Senghor and one of his company's specialties is bio-construction, where building materials are made out of trash by filling disposed plastic bottles with dry, old wrappers. The piles of plastic junk which he sorts and stores in his backyard are also melted into octagon-shaped bricks that home owners can buy for $9 each. The bricks are a trendy way to pave driveways and walkways in this fast expanding capital. Stephen Senghor says his major challenge is in marketing his products and services because sustainable development is a hard sell in Senegal; thus, he creates interest and awareness by training people to build with these materials. Asides bio-construction, Groupe Senghor also offers services in preventing coastal erosion. Many home owners hire Stephen Senghor to create retaining walls out of old blocks and boulders as a way of preventing erosion. The company also produces compost which is used to grow vegetables that is sold in recycled containers to customers including some restaurants. Stephen Senghor believes in his investment and his brand. He wants to turn Petit Mbao into a tourist spot, with its beautiful, clean beaches and proximity to Dakar. His main
satisfaction comes from doing something good, beautiful and meaningful for the people, for the environment and at the same time, making money while at it. "I am not a non-profit organization, I am a businessman, and I am just finding ways to make money out of cleanliness", he said. The story of Stephen Senghor is not one of an unemployed graduate who for lack of a job, resorted to entrepreneurship; on the contrary, it is a story about a man who had a well-paying job in a foreign country yet still quit his job to start up a business in his country. We have so much to learn from Stephen. Senghor; he saw a need and sought out ways to satisfy that need and smile to the bank. In the face of increasing rate of unemployment, we should not be discouraged, but rather, see it as a challenge and strive harder to make something positive out of the situation and the surest way to do this is by becoming entrepreneurs. If Stephen. Senghor who was employed, could become unemployed just to start life as an entrepreneur, then what excuse do you have? WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE I
have been thinking of ideas - winning ideas. The quality of your life is a product of your ideas. Life itself is an idea. I sampled and analyzed a few winning ideas, one of which is "WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?" I also discovered that ideas are products of opportunities. So if you are able to identify and evaluate opportunities, it becomes easier to create that winning idea. Millions of viewers watch this TV series from their homes and other centers, more millions subscribe to participate and some actually leave with the cheques. Now my question: who makes the millions- or rather, most of it? I hope to get the answers at the end of this write-up. WWTBAM is more of an idea than a game. This idea thrives on the huge community of “Millionaire Wannabes” looking for fast (almost zero-risk) cash to pursue their dreams. This huge community becomes their opportunity or market or better put in layman's diction - customers. So would you rather be a customer or a creator? This is a winning idea born out of sheer thinking, many ideas like this are creating wealth but these days young school leavers in our society hardly think of winning ideas, but rather seek jobs in our saturated labour market or seek fast track formulas like the popular internet scam called Yahoo! Yahoo, and this in turn create many problems for the larger society. Another very remarkable boom in Nigeria now is the sports betting. Young people now spend quality time and cash trying to be millionaires while the sports bet companies are smiling to the bank every day, it's almost on every street in Lagos and the Sports bet fever is sweeping across the country with a promise of making millionaires but how many millionaires have been made from this quick cash points? Your guess is
good as mine, Our generation and the one next need to think out of the box, that’s why we are so excited to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship and ingenuity of an African who left a paid job to create a money spinning enterprise with relative low start up funding and now he’s creating new jobs, developing new technology and expanding new frontiers. Meet senghor Stephen and get inspired by his ‘can do’ spirit. On the cover this time, is this very loud heading ' ½ Awesome ½ Human', Muna is going all-in on everything. She talks about Men, Music, Media and more. Her effrontery has taken a new direction, she offers little or no apology, she is just Muna, with our team, and she shares her pains and gains in the industry. She is very insightful in this explosive tell –itall interview and she was at her best throughout the cover shoot by British trained photographer Aham Ibeleme.. In this new issue, we have got the best Nigerian musical export since Fela on our close Up, ASA, the dynamite with a powerful vocal cord, her rise to international prominence and her humble start .Also in this edition, you have the quintessential Sean Tizzle on the 'Journey review'. Alder Mentalism PASSION An intense dedication and devotion to a vision that foretells things greater than you are; only this will give you the strength to forge ahead despite all the obstacles along the way. Be passionate about what you do. INTEGRITY Live to serve with integrity of heart and skillfulness of hand.
THE MAN
THE CV
his is one name you are familiar with when it comes to quality and professional branding but many do not know the compelling story behind the large personae called Leke Alder. H e was born as an only child, so growing up for him was a lonely one and he even suffered facial paralysis to add to his deficiencies but he was never deterred , as a child growing up he wanted to be a lawyer and a practicing one at that but his alternate passion soon got hold his inclination. He attended both Igbobi College and Kings college before proceeding to Obafemi Awolowo University where he studied law, as a student in the university, Alder began honing his skills as a budding artist and in no time he became an authority in fine arts, writing, painting, photography and cartooning. These days set tone for his journey into the world of branding. Leke left the university knowing he had the world under his feet, armed with a law degree and a set of artistic skills in creating unbelievable impressions; he soon discarded law and started off what is now known Leke Alder Consulting with an amount less than N20 at that time. He dared the odds and left the chamber that had him in its employment, he started giving advice, providing artistic solutions, concepts and ideas. From that small beginning, his remarkable imprint found its way into mainstream branding; he began to advise individuals, corporate bodies, government, schools and embassies. That was how the man presently termed 'Nigeria's branding guru' started. Here are some of his tips for young Nigerians going into business: “The key is to dimension your passion into an economic model, build capacities and remained focused. You must be very good at what you do to overcome environmental gravity. And you can't be enterprise greedy. You can't be an Events organizer, make-up artist, tailor, psychologist and brand consultant. It takes a lot to build a business. Entrepreneur is a noun not a verb”. “If you don't have entrepreneurial competencies you can't succeed in business. You must be able to take risk, seek after information, network etc. Those capacities should be developed first. In the meantime be faithful and diligent with your present employment”.
Mr Leke Alder is the founder & Principal of Alder Consulting, Nigeria's leading branding corporation with offices in Lagos and London (www.alderconsulting.com). Mr Alder is credited with introducing branding as a discipline to Nigeria and has consulted on policy, politics and business at the highest levels at home and abroad. He has consulted on policy formulation for the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Federal Ministries of Information & Communication, Education, Foreign Affairs, Solid Minerals Development, and others. He has also consulted on political strategy and communication campaigns at national and sub-national levels.

Mr Leke Alder wrote the blueprint on Nigeria's image management programme - the Heart of Africa project christened Nigeria Rebranding Project; and was the Chief Consultant to the Federal Government on the project. He was appointed by the Federal Government to the Board of Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) and was Chairman of the Board Tenders Committee as well as Chairman of the Communications Committee. (He served on the Board for 4 years). He has served as a panelist at the Annual Africa Business Conference of Harvard Business School; the Annual Africa Business Conference of Wharton Business School; the Annual Africa Business Conference of Kellog School of Management. He was also a speaker at the Financial ADFocus Conference, South Africa as well as Leadership Forum, Ghana. MIGUEL’S ‘SIMPLETHINGS’ Creating that sweet Music alternatively
G
rammy Award-winning R&B singer-songwriter Miguel is a musical genius that is extremely versatile and talented, offering his own unique spin on his songs, which makes him stand out from the range of R&B vocalists in the mainstream right now. He provides us with his sultry, smooth R&B vocals coated in a creative backdrop as he blends his vocals with sub-genres of pop and rock, leaving his audiences singing for days and wanting more from him. Not only is he a singersongwriter, he is also composer, producer and dancer, proving to be the complete package. This is why his latest single “Simplethings” is going to be a chart topper this year . Born and raised in San Pedro, Los Angeles, California to a Mexican father and African American mother, Miguel was introduced to a diverse range of music genres from a young age. With his mother loving the classic R&B and his father loving funk, hip-Hop, jazz and classic rock, it has had significant influence on the type of artist Miguel is right now. Apart from his musical influences, he had an interest in dancing and pursued it for sometime but clearly music was where his heart was and from the age of 13, he started pursuing music w w w. d e e p l y u r b a n . c o m / / 1 4
as a potential career. In 2007, Miguel was signed to Jive records and three years later, he released his debut album titled All I Want Is You. Although it was a good album, it only debuted at #109 on the US Billboard Album Charts selling a measly 11,000 copies in its first week but despite the poor sales, the title track attracted a lot of radio play whilst Miguel toured with Trey Songz and Usher. Along wth “Sure Thing” and “Quickie” also from the album, the three singles from his debut gained him a huge following and subsequently propelled his debut album back into the Billboard Album Chart’s top 40. In 2012, he joined RCA records were he released his second studio album “Kaleidoscope Dream”, which did outstandingly well as he broke through further, into a more national audience, with his album debuting at #3 on the Billboard Album Charts. With the album's leading single “Adorn” marking Miguel's third number one single on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart, it was clear from then on that he was going to have a long, dramatic effect in the music industry for years to come. To start 2014 off, the 28-year old unveiled
his new single “Simplethings”. The track is featured on the new soundtrack album Girls Vol. 2: All Adventurous Women Do, for the new season of hit HBO show Girls. Released on February 11, the soundtrack album also features new music from Lily Allen, Beck and Vampire Weekend. Often times in life, we receive the most gratification from the simple things which end up being some of the more important things in our lives and this is the sentiment behind Miguel's new offering. “Simplethings” is a slow, distorted heavy number about Miguel explaining his desires for the simple things in life. The hazy electric guitar production and his sultry vocals blend beautifully together to create a laid back and sensual track, while the mid-tempo percussion and mood setting synths make a perfect artistic blend, creating a great piece of music which is why we love it! “Simplethings” has an edge to it that displays Miguels vocals in a new light, which is why it is definetly one of the best new tracks of 2014 so far. Without any doubt, the song is a great piece of music and can only leave you excited for Miguel's forthcoming third album which is set to be release later this year.

his heading above aptly describes the burgeoning queen of rap; her charm is percolating, she is extremely humble, funny, lively and vivacious and the grace which she carries herself is out of this world. My impression of her has scaled up more notches than expected; she is just fun to have in the building. Through our shoot which lasted the whole day she made sure there was no dull moment. Muna, a former beauty queen, MBGN 2007 winner is not just another beauty rolling into extinction. She knows her onions and she is not settling for less.

MUNA
unachi Gail Teresa Abii Nwankwo, better known as Muna, had a remarkable reign as the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria in 2007. However, shortly after the pageant, it was clear that it was just a platform to a successful career she would have had with or without the pageant. Born on the 5th of November,1987 and was raised in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, Muna was encouraged by her family to pursue her passion for Music and Arts while studying International Relations and Diplomacy at the Benson Idahosa University. With some hit singles such as “Killer Queen”, “Down Down Low” and “No Tomorrow”, she has warmed her way into the hearts of many fans.We welcome you into the amazing world of our Cover Girl Muna; During her second year at University in 2007, Muna won the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant. Her platform as reigning queen was Polio and Sickle Cell Awareness, and she represented Nigeria at Miss World in China later that year. In 2009, Muna worked with MBGN 2000 winner on a project to raise awareness on cervical cancer.
MUSIC CAREER Prior to winning MBGN, Muna had performed as part of Port Harcourt-based rap group The Specimen A, and collaborated with Terry da Rapman on the critically acclaimed ‘My PH Girl’. Contrary to popular belief, Muna did not start her music career with rap group Ijaw Boyz, although she did perform with them as a guest artiste. As a solo rapper, she performed as Babyrella before changing her stage name to Muna, and as a songwriter, she has written songs for artistes such as J Martins and Waje, and has also appeared in several music videos, most notably in P Square's "Ifunanya". In June 2010, after years of collaborating with various w w w. d e e p l y u r b a n . c o m / / 1 6
artistes, Muna signed a multi-year management contract with Ayo Shonaiya's RMG company and started working on her debut album The Goddess, The Hustler, which will include the singles I Feel Real, and Killer Queen. Muna continues to collaborate with other hip hop artistes; in early 2011, she wrote the lyrics and featured on Waje's hit single ‘So Inspired’ and also appeared in rapper Suspect's video for ‘I No Send You’. PLAYS
21+ STORY OF RAG TO RICHES ? I wouldn't say from rag to riches, I will say we were comfortable enough, I wasn't born with a silver spoon though but my mum made sure I got everything I needed. I always believed I would get anything I wanted and I got it, here I am. I worked my ass out to make all things I have made. I worked my way up from the bottom, just like Drake said. So, how is life now, after the fame? When I first won MBGN, people would ask and I would say that I haven't changed. But looking back now, I guess people change because they start to say, “You're now Hollywood. You're now a celebrity”. It kind of makes me upset sometimes because if you have my number, call me. You see me, you know where I am, come and see me or vice versa. But if I come to see you and you're feeling insecure, saying “What is she doing here?” Can't I just be me, you know? So, I'll say other people make it hard sometimes for you to be yourself but at the end of the day, you're still yourself. Fame hasn't really changed me. But now that we're here, I would rather be a regular person than a famous one. I want the money (laughs) but I'm up for that behind-the-scenes money over the fame money. There's too much drama involved. Munachi is the name that you have used over the years but we are sure every major artist tries out different names
during the teething stage. What other monikers have you tried before sticking to muna? Babyrella Can you describe how it feels to be in this cyclone of good fortune and towering status that you're experiencing right now? How are you handling all of it? The feeling is awesome and I am grateful to God for the experience. It's been a worthwhile journey and my fans have been wonderful. We are like a team. We have been privileged to hear your tunes changing from tepid to terrific. What has been the effervescent secret of your evolution as an artiste? Number one is learning, you need to learn from people before you, the ones around you and even from your fans. Secondly, you have to nurture your confidence as it is the soul of who you are as an artiste. The third one, don't be stagnant, try to evolve with time but not forgetting where you are coming from. There should be a perfect blend of the three things. As a rap artist in an environment where sex, weed and alcohol are the basic elements in most thriving and popular songs, how have you been able to work this mix as a female raper? It's just the love for the poetry and the art itself; the elements people mention in songs are not necessarily what should lead people to do those things, some are just w w w. d e e p l y u r b a n . c o m / / 1 7

figures of expression. Most of my songs are not worded to influence negatively and I try to stay true to the genre without losing my morals. I have been able to work with flow without compromising my convictions. Who has been your greatest influence metamorphosing as an artiste? Fela, Queen Lateefah, Ludacris, Missy, MC Lyte and a whole lot of other artistes On your single, “no tomorrow”, we noticed you did a lot more singing than rapping. Are you trying to be more commercial or are you just experimenting with more electronic dance and pop music? I've always done Dance/Pop. My first ever single “I Feel Real” was kind of Dance/Pop but I don't think the world was ready for that then. Sometimes you need to go back and re-evaluate yourself and come out again so that's what happened. I just did what I know how to do best, which is keeping it simple. We really don't need all those complexities right now. I just want to have fun. I'm sure you want to have fun too so that was the whole idea. When should will be excepting your debut album? Is it still called “The Goddess, The Hustler”? The name may most likely change. I have to give a name that people can relate to. I haven't quite figured that out yet. We've been working. Everything so far for me has been a learning process and we still have all those records in the vault and they're still good so they will be on the album. We'll redo a few tracks but “Killer Queen” will be on the album. You should be expecting the album soon. Rap as a genre in Nigeria is largely been dominated by men and as a female artiste, do you sometimes wish you were a man? Really men do a lot of things and get away with them but that doesn't happen with women and it's painful but we can't be overlooked. It's something that is known, we are getting there by the day too. Has the dispute between you and Mode 9 affected you in anyway? No, it didn't do anything to me. It's just that the whole experience taught me that there's a lot of learning that needs to go on between individuals. First of all, temper and tantrums – everyone needs to learn to control their temper, myself and Mode Nine included. Secondly, friendship and respect is important. I have respect for Mode Nine and he has respect for me. I think the whole thing was blown out of proportion by the media and it wasn't like that at all. Who would you regard as the king of the Nigerian rap scene and why ? I won't really say a particular person is the king of rap because everybody maintains different spots and if I say MI, some will say he's the king of commercial, if I say Olamide some will argue he's the king of indigenous rap , even if I mention Ice prince, there are many rules to choosing a king here, so I won't really mention a name. If there is one thing you would like to change about yourself, what will it be? (Giggles****) Absolutely Nothing!!!! I am too fabulous to want to alter this set up. So nothing at all. w w w. d e e p l y u r b a n . c o m / / 1 8
With the level of popularity you have attained, what is the biggest adjustment you have had to make? Having to be so private. At times I just want show the world my true self, but i can't because people will judge you and I like to be carefree sometimes but people expect you to behave in some ways that is different from who you are. That's one big adjustment I had to make. New label and management team? It's called No-Koscience. The whole team comprises of seasoned people. We are a team that believes in each other and we believe in the brand Muna. What do you find attractive in a man? I find it hot when a guy wears Tom Ford cologne, dresses good, looks good and doesn't sag his pants. I like a true gentleman. In that case, do you have any celebrity crushes? Robert Downey Jr. On scandals, mostly in the media…? Here we go! Scandals don't get to me. Of course I am a human being too. I am aware of these things. It's so sad people will do anything to make money. I understand that they have to eat and if I am the one responsible for their daily bread then glory be to God but it will be good if you are giving me part of the money (Laughs).People have said so many things and have written so many things. In all of these episodes, I learnt one thing or the other but I don't allow scandals to weigh me down. I am a strong woman o! ***laughs**** On dating D'banj, Peter, Tomi Thomas and Terry Da Rapman? Don't know who makes up all these stories but I have never dated any of these guys. If I have, I would gladly tell you. I am not too young to date. Now let's get personal, tell me about your boyfriend? If No, why and if Yes, what is the special thing about him? If I told you I didn't have a boyfriend, would you believe? I have a boyfriend of course. My boyfriend is fine, he's super nice. He is just a cool guy, who understands me and takes me as I am. I won't say much about him and I won't reveal his identity. That's it, let that one stay private for now and when the time is right I will let you know. What do you like the most about your boyfriend? My boyfriend is funny. That's not all but for now, I'll say he's very funny. Chemistry between you and Eva? Emm? Chemistry? (giggles): Ok! It's not new; we are grown women, mature. And both of us have our fair share of pains in the industry and we can relate. You understand, it's good for women to rise above issues like that and understand we are here for each other. Love me some Eva. What is that one thing/secret you have never shared with anybody ever? What makes you think I will share it with you? I won't tell please. Some music artistes see tattoos as a form of expression. Have you ever thought of getting one? Back in secondary school, I always loved body art because it attracted attention. You know, people just

thought you were weird. But right now, it's just too common. Either way, I don't fancy staining my skin anymore. Most regrettable thing? No regrets really!! I never backtrack to events, I am always on the move so no time for regrets. (laughs) Have you doubted your ability & was there ever a plan B? Emm….In the past I would say yes, because people didn’t understand where I was coming from and I wasn't going to explain to anybody. Another factor is that some people around you don’t understand the role of positivity and encouragements in one’s life. Most people tend to do the worst, they feel like they are doing you a favour when they give you bad news, they feel like they are keeping you on the alert. If you hear anything about me that you feel it's right or wrong, don't tell me “I say make I tell you”. Don't tell me, I don't want to hear it. Don't come telling me look at Kel, look at Eva or anybody else. That's not what I am about. It's has nothing to do with me. My past is totally different from everybody's. So if one female rapper is going in a certain way, I am happy for her. Positivity is good and be confident. Before now, when I performed, I would ask people if I did well but it's not the way to go, so I want to do this for life and I don't doubt myself now. It’s a reflex thing to seek people's approval. no plan B, I am here to stay! General take on music? Nigerian music is evolving. I am grateful to have experienced a lot in the industry. On the rebased GDP? Wetin be GDP again? Oh I am just joking; I think people need to invest in the core values of this economy not just the superficial ones. They need to encourage the entertainment industry with funding, so that a lot of people can offer ancillary services asides the major actors. This can create jobs and relieve the government of having to carry the burden of unemployment. Greatest achievement as an artiste? Still achieving stuffs so I don't think I have my greatest achievement yet. However, being able to work with people I only dreamt of, being able to write for people and watch the audience sing along to this music & not know, touching lives. It's not about the praises & awards. What should Nigerians expect from you? Expect great stuffs from me this year. I will be sharing love Message to fans Thanks for being there. You are the reason I w w w. d e e p l y u r b a n . c o m / / 1 9

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF KESHI’S INCLUSION OF OSAZE IN THE FINAL SQUAD TO THE WORLD CUP?
Olokodana Amuda I am so happy he is back in the team and he can help the team with his years of experience. He is our best and most consistent player at the moment. Keshi made the right decision on this one.
Famuyiwa Sunday The inclusion of Osaze is a good thing for Nigeria at the world cup but he should concentrate more on playing football than being on twitter. We are quite happy is in our world cup party.
Melvin Aniocham The only thing I can say for now is that he should just add value to the team and shun playing politics like the last time out with Siasia. He can actually make a difference in the team if he is at his best.
Oye Tomori “Osaze is a fantastic player but like Keshi rightly pointed out, no single player is indispensable. There can be no greatness without discipline. I am happy he has learnt his lessons.
Osaze Odemwingie took to Twitter to comment on his recall to the Nigeria squad after a near two-year absence, KickOff Nigeria reports. The Stoke striker was named in Stephen Keshi's 23-man final World Cup squad, and said although he was pleased by the recall and the love from fans. Odemwingie is expected to lead the eagles attack in Brazil following his good run of form for Stoke in the English Premier League. What do you think of his inclusion?
Omotolani Atanda I think his invitation to the eagles has affected players like Ideye Brown, Sone Aluko. Some players worked hard for this qualification only to be dropped for the big gun. Let's hope he's has learnt his lessons. w w w. d e e p l y u r b a n . c o m / / 2 9

at it again! Akpos' next door neighbour had a baby. Unfortunately, the little baby was born with no ears. When they arrived home from the hospital, the parents invited Akpos' family to come over and see their new baby. Akpos' parents were very afraid their son would have a silly words to say about the baby. So, Akpos' dad had a long talk with Akpos before going to the neighbours house. He said, "Now, son, that poor baby was born without any ears. I want you to be on your best behaviour and not say one word about his ears, or I'm really going to beat you when we get back home." "I promise not to mention his ears at all," said Akpos. At the neighbour's house, Akpos leaned over the crib and touched the baby'shand. He looked at his mother and said, "Oh, what a beautiful little baby!" The mother, who had braced herself for Akpos' comment, was pleasantly surprised and said, "Thank you very much, Akpos." Akpos then continued, "This baby has perfect little hands and perfect little feet. Why, just look at his pretty little eyes! Did his doctor say he can see clearly?" The mother who was a bit surprised, replied; "Why, yes ... his doctor said he has a good vision, why do you ask?" Akpos said, "Well, it's a good thing, cause i'm very sure he can't wear glasses.
A Guy Akpos got employed at a big company as a cleaner. On his 1st day at work, he picked up a phone, dialed a number and shouts; Get me some tea, quickly! The voice from the other side responded; You fool! You've dialed the wrong number. Do you know who you are talking to?. Akpos replied; No. The voice said; I am the CEO of this company. Akpos shouted; Do you know who you are talking to?. The CEO replied; No. Akpos said; Good! And puts down the phone.

Akpos works hard at the office but spends two nights each week bowling, and plays golf every Saturday. His wife thinks he's pushing himself too hard, so for his birthday she takes him to a local strip club. The doorman at the club greets them and says, 'Hey, Akpos! How ya doin?’ His wife is puzzled and asks if he's been to this club before. 'Oh no,' says Akpos. 'He's in my bowling league. When they are seated, a waitress asks Akpos if he'd like his usual and brings over a Budweiser. His wife is becoming increasingly uncomfortable and says, 'How did she know that you drink Budweiser?' 'I recognize her, she's the waitress from the golf club. I always have a Bud at the end of the 1st nine, honey.’ A stripper then comes over to their table, throws her arms around Akpos, starts to rub herself all over him and says, 'Hi Akpos. Want your usual table dance, big boy?’ Akpos's wife, now furious, grabs her purse and storms out of the club. Akpos follows and spots her getting into a cab. Before she can slam the door, he jumps in beside her. Akpos tries desperately to explain how the stripper must have mistaken him for someone else, but his wife is having none of it. She is screaming at him at the top of her lungs, calling him every 4 letter word in the book. The cabby turns around and says, 'Geez Akpos, you picked up a real bitch this time.’ Akpos's funeral will be on Friday. Akpos was once employed in a school and he went to the class to teach. The first day. Akpors: Good morning students Students: Good morning sir! Akpos: I'm going to be your new biology teacher, so do u know what we have this morning? Students: No sir! Teacher: Since u don't know it, there's no point of teaching u. Akpos went and came the following day with this conversation. Akpos: Good morning students Students: Good morning sir. Akpos: Do u know what we are having this morning?.. Out of fear of the previous day, they said "yes sir". Akpos: Since u already know, there's no point teaching u again. The third day. Akpos came back to class and asked again. Akpos: Do u know what we are having this morning? Out of confusion some said Yes, while some said No. Akpos: Alright then, let those that know teach others who don't know.”

Peter&Lola’s Traditional wedding
E
ven after taking on photography professionally for about 4 years now, I still get somewhat nervous. Why? There are so many reasons, but one thing I can say is that the pressure to document a special day in the lives of two love birds and do a good job the couple will be happy with, amidst the sea of other photographers can prove to be a challenge. Lola and Peter's (1/2 of the dynamic singing group Psquare) traditional wedding was one that came with so much hype, and reasonably so. As the official photographer of the day, it was absolutely important that we delivered, and we're glad the mission was accomplished! The couple loved the pictures and even ordered extra books! The guests were well entertained by all the performances from the wide array of A-list artistes, not to mention the comedic edge that the MC of the day Gbenga Adeyinka the 1st brought. The whole event was just an amazing and

heart felt ceremony that showed that weddings are an amazing celebration of love. There was also the skelewu dance by Togolese football star, Adebayor (SEA). It's hard to put into words what our experience as photographers was, we just had a blast! The experience was great and if given the opportunity to do it again, I would have. So when Paul's bride contacted me about shooting her wedding, I was ready to take it on; but I unfortunately have another wedding booked for the same day. The lovely ladies at Perfect Coordinators (the event planning company) recommended me for the job. My good friends Lumi and Wale assisted me on the day. Thanks once again guys. I'm sharing below a few images from Lola and Peters Big Day, Enjoy!

Selfie S
elfie is a self-portrait photograph, typically taken with a hand-held digital or camera phone. Selfies are often shared on social networking services such as Instagram, Snapchat, and Tumblr. They are often casual, and are typically taken either with a camera held at arm's length or in a mirror.
Popularity
T
he term "selfie" was discussed by photographer Jim Krause in 2005, although photos in the selfie genre predate the widespread use of the term. In the early 2000s, before Facebook became the dominant online social network, selftaken photographs were particularly common on MySpace. However, writer Kate Losse recounts that between 2006 and 2009 (when Facebook became more popular than MySpace), the "MySpace pic" (typically "an amateurish, flashblinded self-portrait, often taken in front of a bathroom mirror") became an indication of bad taste for users of the newer Facebook social network. Early Facebook portraits, in contrast, which were usually well-focused and more formal, were taken by others from distance. In 2009, Flickr users used 'selfies' to describe seemingly endless self-portraits posted by teenage girls. Initially popular with young people, selfies gained wider popularity over time. By the end of 2012, Time magazine considered “selfie” as one of the "top 10 buzzwords" of that year; and although it had long been in existence long, it was in 2012 that the term really gained popularity. According to a 2013 survey, two-thirds of Australian women ages between 18–35 take selfies, the most common purpose for which is posting on Facebook. A poll commissioned by smartphone and camera maker Samsung found that selfies make up 30% of the photos taken by people aged 18–24. By 2013, the word "selfie" had become commonplace enough to be monitored for inclusion in the online version of the w w w. d e e p l y u r b a n . c o m / / 3 6
Oxford English Dictionary. In November 2013, the word "selfie" was announced as being the "word of the year" by the Oxford English Dictionary, which gave the word itself an Australian origin. Selfies have also been taken beyond the earth. A space selfie is a selfie that is taken in space. This include selfies taken by astronauts, machines and by an indirect method to have self-portrait photograph on earth retaken in space. In January 2014, during the Sochi Winter Olympics, a "Selfie Olympics" meme was popular on Twitter, where users took selfportraits in unusual situations. The spread of the meme took place with the usage of the hashtags, #selfiegame, and #selfieolympics. A selfie orchestrated by 86th Academy Awards host Ellen DeGeneres during the March 2, 2014 broadcast is the most retweeted image ever. DeGeneres said she wanted to homage Meryl Streep's record 18 Oscar nominations by setting a new record with her, and invited other Oscar celebrities to join them. The resulting photo of twelve celebrities broke the previous retweet record within forty minutes, and was retweeted over 1.8 million times in the first hour. By the end of the ceremony it had been retweeted over 2 million times, less than 24 hours later, it had been retweeted over 2.8 million times. As of 18 March 2014, it has been retweeted 3,400,395 times. It beat the previous record, 778,801, which was held by Barack Obama, following his victory in the 2012 presidential election. In April 2014, the advertising agency iStrategyLabs produced a two-way mirror
capable of automatically posting selfies to Twitter, using facial recognition software. Many celebrities – especially sex symbols – post selfies for their followers on social media, and provocative or otherwise interesting celebrity selfies are the subject of regular press coverage. Some commentators, such as Emma Barnett of The Telegraph, have argued that sexy celebrity selfies (and sexy non-celebrity selfies) can be empowering to the selfietakers but harmful to women in general as they promote viewing women as sex objects. President Barack Obama made news headlines during Nelson Mandela's memorial celebration at the Johannesburg's FNB Stadium with various world leaders, as he was snapped taking a selfie and sharing smiles with Danish Prime Minister Helle ThorningSchmidt, and later with British Prime Minister David Cameron, as they gathered to pay tribute to Mandela. The decision to take the selfies was considered to be in poor taste, as British political columnist Iain Martin critiqued the behaviour as behaving like idiots, as they were “clowning around like Muppets”. The photos also depict the First Lady Michelle Obama sitting next to them looking “furious and mortified”. Despite the criticism, Roberto Schmidt, the photographer who captured the photos taken at the celebration, reported to the Today show that it was taken at “a jovial, celebratory portion of the service”

NIGERIA'S CHINEY OGWUMIKE IS WNBA'S TOP OVERALL DRAFT PICK
S
tanford star Chiney Ogwumike became the top overall pick in the WNBA draft this year, two years after her sister, Nneka was taken first by the Los Angeles Sparks. The Connecticut Sun grabbed the 6foot-3 inches Chiney with the first selection in Uncasville, Connecticut., as the Ogwumike sisters joined Payton and Eli Manning as the only siblings to become No. 1 picks in American major pro sports. But the younger Ogwumike didn't expect it to happen, revealing a new side of one of the greatest players in Stanford history. "I didn't have confidence, but Nneka said, 'I told you so,' " Ogwumike said shortly after the selection. "She always has confidence. Stanford Cardinals' Chiney Ogwumike (13) celebrates after making a basket and catching up to the North Carolina Tar Heels in the first half of a regional final game at the NCAA women's college basketball tournament at Maples Pavilion in Stanford, Calif., on Tuesday, April 1, 2014. (Josie Lepe/Bay Area News
Group) The three-time All-American never seemed to lack confidence while taking the leadership role after Nneka Ogwumike graduated in 2012. Chiney Ogwumike left Stanford as the Pac12's all-time leading scorer and rebounder, passing former Cardinal stars Candice Wiggins and Kayla Pedersen in those categories this season. The Texan led Stanford (33-4) to the women's Final Four, where it fell to eventual champion, Connecticut in the semifinals in Nashville, Tenn. "I still think people have more confidence in me than I do in myself," Ogwumike said. "That's one thing I worked on with my coaches at Stanford. But it's pretty cool to feel that way." Now she will be expected to expand her game with so many strong forwards in the WNBA. Connecticut coach, Anne Donovan recently said Ogwumike will have to develop a midrange shot to be effective. "Now I have no other choice," Ogwumike said. "Before I knew I could
stay in my comfort zone. You grow when you get outside of your comfort zone. Now it is time for me to keep working and just show it." Ogwumike, who Friday won the John R. Wooden award as college player of the year, knows developing a perimeter game is the path to her ultimate goal: winning an Olympic gold medal with her sister. "Striving for that goal has made us better players," Ogwumike said. Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer told the forward, "You're going to have to get outside the block to make the Olympics." Ogwumike became the 11th Stanford player to earn a first-round pick in the WNBA draft - the sixth in seven years. She is one of 22 Cardinal players to get drafted into the league that opens the 2014 season next month. Ogwumike also kept alive a remarkable tradition. She is the fourth Stanford athlete from the Houston area to become a No. 1 pick in the past three years. Quarterback Andrew Luck joined Nneka Ogwumike as 2012 top picks while pitcher Mark Appel had the distinction last year. w w w. d e e p l y u r b a n . c o m / / 3 7

Movie Review
About Last Night The film premiered at the Pan African Film Festival on February 11, 2014. It was released in theaters on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2014. The majority of critics gave positive reviews, and most critics commended the humor between Hart and Hall. The film grossed $25.6 million on the opening weekend, ranking second after The Lego Movie, which was in its second weekend. As of April 6, About Last Night has grossed $48.6 million in the United States and Canada and $365 thousand in other territories for a worldwide total of $49 million.
About Last Night is a 2014 American romantic comedy film starring Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy, Regina Hall, and Joy Bryant. Directed by Steve Pink, the film is based on the 1974 David Mamet play Sexual Perversity in Chicago and is a remake of the 1986 film of the same name. The remake features black actors in the lead roles where the roles in the original film were played by white actors. The remake is also set in Los Angeles, California where the original film was set in Chicago, Illinois. Filming took place in late 2012 in Los Angeles. The film was produced on a budget of $13 million.
Hart was cast in June 2012, in the following July, Ealy and Hall joined the cast. Hart, Hall, and Ealy had previously starred together in the romantic comedy Think Like a Man (2012), which About Last Night's producer Will Packer also produced. Joy Bryant was cast in August to round out the four key roles. In addition to McDonald, Rodríguez, Lo Truglio, and Patton making up the supporting cast, American football player Terrell Owens had a cameo appearance in the film. Hart's role of Bernie was played by James Belushi in the original film, while the role of Joan was played by Elizabeth Perkins. While Joan was not very likable in the original film, Hall said the writers revised the character to be closer to the one depicted in the play. Hall said, "Instead of making her just snarky, there are a lot of levels that she goes to. Ealy's role of Danny was played by Rob Lowe in the original film, while Bryant's role of Debbie was played by Demi Moore. Ealy said he chose not to see the play or the original film to avoid repeating any performances. He said of the roles of Danny and Debbie, "With Bernie and Joan, they are written funny, they act funny, they are funny pretty much non-stop. [Danny and Debbie] bring a bit more gravitas to the entire story, and reality. Ealy, who was 40 years old at the time of release, played a 28year-old character, so he lost 25 pounds to look more youthful. He also compared “About Last Night's depiction of ‘adult black people in a sexy, romantic way to the film, ‘Love Jones’ (1997)”.
X-MEN; Days of Future Past While official long form reviews of X-Men: Days of Future Past are still under embargo, there have been quite a few short reviews on Twitter. So far, the short reviews have been incredible positive with many calling X-Men: Days of Future Past the best X-Men movie ever. In fact, we've yet to see a negative review of the film. On Good Morning America recently, several members of the X-Men: Days of Future Past cast appeared to promote the film with GMA host Robin Roberts, who offered up her own feedback on the film.
“Saw it [X-Men: Days of Future Past] in 3-D yesterday,” said Robin Roberts. “It is highly entertaining, just leaves you wanting more and more and more.” In regards to both James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart playing Charles Xavier, Roberts said, “It works. It really works. I mean the two of you together.” At the end of the interview with the X-Men: Days of Future Past cast, Roberts re-iterated, “It was highly entertaining. Loved every second.”

ARTISTE – Sean Tizzle TITLE – The Journey LEAD SINGLE – Sho Lee PRODUCTION – D'Tunes, Prince Boom GUEST ARTISTES – 9ice, Iceprince, KCee, Naeto C, Olamide, Reminisce, Tiwa Savage RECORD LABEL – Difference Entertainment DURATION – 73 minutes
I
f some critics argue that time of incubation is the only factor used in measuring artiste prowess and stature then I think we need to check out great artistes like Miguel and Justin Bieber who practically had a string of fast paced solos and maturing into them into an album in less than 18 months and are going to become one of the best pop artistes of our time. In the case of Sean Tizzle, I was pessimistic at first but getting the album has not only changed my perception about him but has further convinced me that his journey into super stardom has just begun. The album should have been titled “'The Beginning of the Journey.” D’Tunes has made one of the best of discoveries as far as Nigerian Music is concerned. No single album in Nigeria has come without its own lows and 'The journey' wouldn't veer into oblivion because of its tethering deficiencies like dearth of deep lyrics and similar tunes. Although the monster hit 'SHO LE' and 'International Bad Man' were conspicuously absent from the list, the accompanying tracks did justice to his effervescent versatility. Sean Tizzle has come to stay. TAKE IT! 1. Perfect Gentleman: This track comes off as an intro of the album, D Tunes delivered a signature sound and Tizzle gleefully played a cameo in his own turf. Not a classic though, but can pass for an average one. 2. Baby O: Aside the fact that I personally like afrobeats, Baby O is a fantastic tune anyday, no apologies, this track is one of the best songs from the album to me. 3. Take It: This is the song I expect as the next hit on streets, he must have studied the market so well to know what really sells and guess what! They are already taking it. 4. Kilogbe Remix ft. Reminisce & Olamide: Awesome delivery but a remix with Olamide could hamper the viability of any original song on the same album. 5. Could This Be Love?: 2face inspired love ballads, Sean Tizzle calls his dexterity into question. 2face will be so proud of his delivery. This song deserves a thumbs up. I will score this song higher than the other ones before it.
6. Loke Loke ft. 9ice: This is not my best song of the album but it's up the scale in terms uniqueness and featuring 9nice indigenous hip hop veteran did the magic on this track. Listening to this song will definitely remind you of 9ice's glory years of Gongo Aso and co. 7. Komagbon: This sounds like “Baby O” and “Kilogbe” but with its own not so unique paradigm, the song to me is a waste of the minutes. 8. All The Way ft. Kcee: This song would have thrived better without a collaboration. It is a song whose message died on arrival. With Kcee in it, it is unlikely that you’ll get any highlife or eastern feel on the song. Although Kcee managed to stay his course but the combination doesn't . 9. Duro: This song produced by Prince Boom serves another delicacy different from the type we are almost used to. A refreshingly different feel, I think apart from it being fast paced, it's a really nice song. 10. I Got It ft. Ice Prince & Naeto C: This is another collaboration that is massive. Tizzle was at his best on this track calling on Ice Prince and Naeto C to join him on “I Got It” make this song another contender for best collaboration yet in 2014. 11. Arewa: I am disappointed that this particular song was not kicked out before sending the album to the streets. 'Arewa' is not in the class of Tizzle's other songs.
It sounds like a repeat of some songs I have heard somewhere. 12. Igi Orombo ft. Tiwa Savage: This is the real McCoy; Tiwa combines with Tizzle effortlessly to produce a powerful rendition that a good video will ultimately nail. “Igi Orombo” is another magic wand by Sean Tizzle. The saxophone on this track is another tool thrown into the mix. Beautiful song! 13. Komole: Heavy Owambe song and it has this old time flavor that will make it stand the test of time. D'tunes did the magic here and funny enough, Tizzle audibility stands out in this particular heavily laced party song. 14. Mama Eh: This wasn't a cut for posterity , it's basically for the party people now. At least the song leaves a good taste than some songs being rotated lately. 15. Momayan: The 'famzing track. Not my kind of song. It's just another song garbed in hip hop but will do little justice to his ability. 16. Kilogbe: This song would have just been a good song if there were no familiar tunes and lyrics on this same album plus there is a remix. 17. Dem No Be God: Sean Tizzle's spiritual inclination is evident here. It's a well mastered outro with fantastic production from his alternate and guest producer. Nice song

10 SIGNS TO SHOW YOUR EXPECTATIONS ARE TOO HIGH You're Looking For Mr. Good On Paper
You Want You In Male Form
Even if Mr. Right passes you by on a daily basis, you don't pay him a single ounce of attention let alone make eye contact with him. You're too busy looking for Mr. Good in Paper, a man who makes other women jealous and who looks like the ultimate catch because of his good looks, good job, and good bank account. Instead of opening your eyes a little and realizing that “the one may be right in front of you, your expectations are too high and you're blinded by fake reality.
When it comes time to finding a man who you're willing to date and maybe settle down with for a little while, you're looking for someone who can mimic you. You want a man who likes the same things you do, has similar career aspirations, has the same exact morals, and has the same future vision. While having similarities is important, you'll find it's extremely hard to find a man who is exactly like you. Your expectations are too high if you're looking for a you in male form.
You're Looking For A Man You Can Mold When you go on a date or get into a relationship, you know in your heart and in your mind that you're looking to mold and change this guy to fit your idea of a perfect man. You purposefully don't date men who seem extremely stuck in their ways and unwilling to change. When your expectations are too high you do anything and everything you can in order to mold a man to merge perfectly into your wants and needs. You're Looking For Someone To Complete You
Fairytales are exactly that, and the relationships you see in the movies are nothing like the real ones you will experience. Love and relationships should never be based on fantasy ideas. Having these ideas in your brain sets you up for failure because when your relationship isn't on par, it's a shortfall and you pawn the relationship off as being bad or untrue. Your expectations are too high when your brain is focused on fantasy relationships and love.
You are convinced that there is this one single man out there, just waiting for you to find him so that he can complete you as a person and as a woman. You have this idea that this man is your soul mate and he'll be able to fulfill all of your wants and needs. If this is your true way of thinking, you have a lot of learning to do and you'll find yourself nothing short of single. If you're looking towards someone else to make you happy, you'll never be completely happy. Happiness has to come from within.
All Of Your Past Relationships Have Been Short
You Want A Mind Reader
You Dream Of Movie And Fairytale Romances
When you look back and think, you have never really had a long-term relationship. You've maybe dated a guy for a few months but eventually things crumbled and fell apart. The reason you may not be able to hold onto a man for a long period of time may be because your expectations are too high. Having very high expectations can cause all sorts of tension and frustration in a relationship when men who are trying their best still can't please you. w w w. d e e p l y u r b a n . c o m / / 4 2
You're one of those women who isn't too good at communicating what she feels and thinks. Instead, when you're angry, sad, or upset about something, you expect the man in your life to be able to figure it out all on his own. Women who want mind readers often have extremely high expectations that not many men are able to surpass, let alone live up to. Communication is important in any relationship and expecting a mind reader just won't fly.
You Expect Dates To Go Exactly As You Envision It Before a date, you have this fairytale in your head that plays over and over again. You meet this handsome man and he's a gentleman. He's also everything you've been looking for. But when you do go on dates with these high expectations of a perfect night you're often let down. First dates rarely go as planned. Everyone is awkward and just because things didn't go super smooth doesn't mean the evening was a total bust. Your Deal Breakers Are All Superficial Every woman has those things that she just does not want in a man. Who wants a guy who doesn't work and plays video games all day? Or who wants a man with no aspirations in life? However, for you, your deal breakers are all extremely superficial. You refuse to a date a man who isn't at least 6 fit tall and you won't date a man who doesn't have a chiseled body. When your deal breakers are superficial, it's likely that your expectations are too high. Remember, everyone has flaws, so cut them a little slack. Your Expectations Haven't Changed A huge sign that your expectations are too high is the fact that they haven't changed from when you first started dating until now. After dating for months or years, your expectations and wants from a man should definitely have changed. If your expectations are the same as what they were two years ago, this is a big clue that you have set them way too high and even you don't know how to lower or change them.

Rumour Has It That the reported feud between the P-square brothers was a big media set up. It was also rumoured that the record wanted to feel the pulse of the street on their acceptance after their marriages. The duo must have scored a big 'A' in stage managing, if the whole break up thing was actually a set up.
That Jim Iyke and his Ghanaian lover, Nadia Buari have gone their separate ways. It was gathered that the break up was as a result of Jim's hot temper and spontaneous aggression. This is really a bad news, considering the fact that both were actually planning a summer engagement.
That the main reason Solange attacked Jay Z in the famous elevator attack of May 5th was to teach Jay Z a lesson for disrespecting her sister Beyonce by staring at Rihanna's open backside throughout the night and for wanting to attend RiRi's Met Gala After party. That the story making rounds about Mikel Obi impregnating Sandra Okagbue has caused a big problem for the midfield maestro and his Russian 'roulette' girlfriend , Olga Diyachenko. That the major reason Mercy Johnson quit acting is because she can't find back her killer figure which was her selling point from way back. That since the birth of her daughter, her body has been in a shape she is not really proud of and she is willing to take time off to give birth to another child before calling it quit and returning to the front of the camera.

10 WAYS TO CONTROL
HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
WITHOUT MEDICATION
I
f you've been diagnosed with high blood pressure (a systolic pressure — the top number of 140 or above or a diastolic pressure — the bottom number of 90 or above), you might be worried about taking medication to bring your blood pressure down. Lifestyle plays an important role in treating your high blood pressure. If you successfully control your blood pressure with a healthy lifestyle, you may avoid, delay or reduce the need for medication. Here are 10 lifestyle changes you can make to lower your blood pressure and maintain it that way.
LOSE EXTRA POUNDS AND WATCH YOUR WAISTLINE Blood pressure often increases as weight increases. Losing just 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms) can help reduce your blood pressure. In general, the more weight you lose, the lower your blood pressure. Losing weight also makes any blood pressure medications you're taking more effective. You and your doctor can determine your target weight and the best way to achieve it. Besides shedding pounds, you should also keep an eye on your waistline. Carrying too much weight around your waist can put you at greater risk of high blood pressure. In general: Men are at risk if their waist m e a s u r e m e n t is greater than 40 inches (102 centimeters, or cm). Women are at risk if their waist measurement is greater than 35 inches (89 cm). Asian men are at risk if their waist measurement is greater than 36 inches (91 cm). Asian women are at risk if their waist measurement is greater than 32 inches (81 cm).
REDUCE SODIUM IN YOUR DIET Even a small reduction in the sodium in your diet can reduce blood pressure by 2 to 8mmHg. The recommendations for reducing sodium are: · Limit sodium to 2,300 milligrams (mg) a day or less. · A lower sodium level 1,500 mg a day or less is appropriate for people 51 years of age or older, and individuals of any age who are African-American or who have high blood pressure, diabetes or chronic kidney disease. To decrease sodium in your diet, consider these tips: Track how much salt is in your diet. Keep a food diary to estimate how much sodium is in what you eat and drink each day. Read food labels. If possible, choose low-sodium alternatives of the foods and beverages you normally buy. Eat fewer processed foods. Potato chips, frozen dinners, bacon and processed lunch meats are high in sodium. Don't add salt. Just 1 level teaspoon of salt has 2,300 mg of sodium. Use herbs or spices, rather than salt, to add more flavor to your foods. Ease into it. If you don't feel like you can drastically reduce the sodium in your diet suddenly, cut back gradually. Your palate will adjust over time.
AVOID TOBACCO PRODUCTS AND SECONDHAND SMOKE Asides of all the other dangers of smoking, the nicotine in tobacco products can raise your blood pressure by 10mmHg or more for up to an hour after you smoke. Smoking throughout the day means your blood pressure may remain constantly high. You should also avoid second hand smoking. Inhaling smoke from others also puts you at risk of health problems, including high blood pressure and heart disease.
EXERCISE REGULARLY Regular physical activity — at least 30 to 60 minutes most days of the week — can lower your blood pressure by 4 to 9 millimeters of mercury (mmHg) and it doesn't take long to see a difference. If you haven't been active, increasing your exercise level can lower your blood pressure within just a few weeks. If you have prehypertension — systolic pressure between 120 and 139 or diastolic pressure between 80 and 89, exercise can help you avoid developing full-blown hypertension. If you already have hypertension, regular physical activity can bring your blood pressure down to safer levels. Talk to your doctor about developing an exercise program. Your doctor can help determine whether you need any exercise restrictions. Even moderate activity for 10 minutes at a time, such as walking and light strength training, can help. But avoid being a "weekend warrior." Trying to squeeze all your exercise in on the weekends to make up for weekday inactivity isn't a good strategy. Those sudden bursts of activity could actually be risky.
GET SUPPORT FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS Supportive family and friends can help improve your health. They may encourage you to take care of yourself, drive you to the doctor's office or embark on an exercise program with you to keep your blood pressure low. Talk to your family and friends about the dangers of high blood pressure. If you find you need support beyond your family and friends, consider joining a support group. This may put you in touch with people who can give you an emotional or morale boost and who can offer practical tips to cope with your condition.
