Annual Fund 2016-17

Dear Princeton Montessori School Parents, Faculty and Friends, On behalf of the Princeton Montessori Trustees, we extend our sincerest gratitude to all of you who donated to the 2015-16 campaign. Because of your generosity and continued commitment to the school, we were able to fulfill so many of the teachers’ wishes, from new materials and a classroom makeover for Upper Elementary, to individual items by program like a new water play station for the Toddlers, additional materials for our new ‘Tune In’ and ‘Eco Binding’ classes, a Gaga Pit play arena for Elementary and Middle School, and new Chromebooks for Upper Elementary. These would not have been possible without your generous donations to Wants-n-Wishes. Your gifts also enabled us to meet our goal of $150,000! We were delighted to see so many families among the list of our caring contributors as participation by all of the community is our main goal. Do take a look through this Annual Report attachment to see the impact our school community’s generosity has made on Princeton Montessori School. As we look to the 2016-17 school year, we hope to focus our annual campaign on supporting educational enhancements, campus and facility renovations, professional development for faculty and staff, and more community wide events. Each of these focus areas will benefit the current and future community of Princeton Montessori Society. Save the Date! We want to kick off the campaign in a big way and cannot do it without you. Tuesday, November 29th is now known as ‘Giving Tuesday’ nationwide, and we hope you will make it a priority to pledge online on or before this date so that our Princeton Montessori School students, current and future, can benefit. In order to make this year’s campaign a success, we need to surpass $150,000. Can we count on you to chip in? Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to our 2016-17 Campaign Volunteers (listed on page 5). In January, one of them will be reaching out to each of you to ask for your support if you miss Giving Tuesday. The campaign would not be possible without their gifts of time and energy! As with other independent schools, tuition alone does not cover the actual cost of providing this quality education to children. Unlike tuition, the benefit to you is that your donation is tax deductible. Thank you so much for considering a donation to our school. We are confident that we can count on you to support our beloved school community. We are thrilled to have you as part of the Princeton Montessori School family! Sincerely,

Peter Egbert

Why Give? Why are you asking me to give? The Annual Fund is the school’s single most important source of much-needed unrestricted revenue. It is a vital part of each year’s operating budget, contributing to every part of Princeton Montessori School’s operations. Gifts to the Annual Fund allow us to attract and retain the very best teachers, provide quality materials, and provide our students with a wide variety of diverse experiences - all of these are over and above what tuition fees cover. In brief, the Annual Fund donations benefit all aspects of our school. How can my family contribute? Gifts of every size are gratefully appreciated. Please give as generously as you can. Consistent participation is just as important as the donation amount. An investment in the present and future of Princeton Montessori School is one that will pay life-time dividends for your children and for future generations. In addition, your donation, unlike tuition, is 100% tax-deductible. When should I give? The Annual Fund kicks off on Giving Tuesday, November 29. Between January and March, a campaign volunteer will reach out to you via email to seek your participation. Donations are gratefully accepted up to July 30th, but the best gift of all is an early commitment. Why don’t you just raise the tuition? A full tuition at Princeton Montessori School does not cover the complete cost of providing this quality education to children. In addition, gifts to the Annual Fund are 100% tax-deductible while tuition is not. Who supports the Annual Fund? Each family, past and present, plays an active role in the school community. Our current parents, former parents, grandparents, alumni, trustees, friends, and faculty share the responsibility of meeting the school’s educational goals and ensuring a soundly governed and financially healthy institution. Do other schools ask for donations to their annual campaign? Every independent school and university in this country and abroad has an annual campaign. It is an important tool that helps keep tuition affordable and enhances the children’s educational experience. A common goal of 100% participation builds community and inspires others to give. “We donated to the annual fund because we knew the proceeds would be put to good use to improve the educational and playing environment for all students, and would allow the teachers to keep up their professional development. Besides, the donations are tax deductible, so it makes sense to donate to PMonts as the school is more appreciative than the government. After all, when was the last time you received a ‘Thank You’ note from Uncle Sam for your taxes?” - Victor Peng, parent of Jaylen and Lucinda, elementary students
