Mothers Day: A Mixed Bag

Mother’s Day: A Mixed Bag by Kristyn Komarnicki For me (and, I don't know, maybe one or two other mothers out there?), Mother’s Day is a day of great hope and great potential joy. No, scratch that. More like raw vulnerability and great potential disappointment. Which pretty much describes the whole job of motherhood in one short catchy phrase, don’t you think? We give so much, and we dare to expect...something that may never make it out into the light of day. The loving is good, the hoping is hard, the trusting in the big picture can be harder still. If you want to be uplifted and encouraged—honestly—this Mother’s Day, I recommend reading two of my favorite blogs: Kay Wyma’s M.O.A.T. and Ann Voscamp’s A Holy Experience. They both offer great wisdom, in livable versions, for women, whether mothers or not. (For the record, I love being a mom. I just never expected it to be such soul-pummeling ride!)
