you will be taken by shuttle bus from the hotel to the wildly romantic Val S-Charl. You hike from S-Charl along the rippling Clemgia, further through the highest Swiss stone pine forest in Europe „Tamangur“, which more than lives up to its fairytale name. Then you pass the Alp Astras, where fresh alpine products are available. The trail continues to climb leisurely up to the Pass da Costainas at 2,250 m.a.s.l.. Your efforts are rewarded with an overwhelming view of the Val Müstair. Through the nature park of the Biosfera Val Müstair you continue hiking via Alp Compatsch to the small village of Tschierv, from where you take the post bus over the Ofen Pass to Zernez and from there by train to Zuoz. You will be picked up at the station and driven to the Hotel Castell - a castle that towers high above Zuoz and is waiting to tempt you with culinary delights!

Hike through the wild Val Sinestra

Pure nature in Val Trupchun

Strengthened by the rich breakfast buffet, you take the post bus to the well-preserved Engadine village of Sent, the starting point for your hike. From here you hike into the wild, forested Val Sinestra, where the mighty spa house from the Belle Époque is enthroned on a rock in the middle. The history of the house and the former bathing and drinking culture with water from the mineral springs is fascinating. Following the course of the stream, you meet the first and shortly after the second suspension bridge. The view of the sometimes wild but mostly quiet mountain stream is adventurous. Soon you reach the Hof Zuort inn and restaurant in a clearing and a little later the Tanna da Muntanella restaurant at the turning point of the hike. Return along the well-maintained forest road to the hamlet of Vnà, the end point of the hike is the PostBus stop. Back in Scuol, there is time to enjoy the amenities of the wellness area.

There is a lot to marvel at today! We recommend the mostly flat hike into the wildlife-rich Val Trupchun. Both animal and plant lovers will get their money‘s worth here. This hike is one of the most popular routes in the National Park, especially at the time of the deer rut at the end of September. From the two resting places Val Mela and Alp Trupchun, the animal inhabitants of the Val Trupchun can be observed at close quarters. Thanks to the geological conditions, the flora in Val Trupchun is one of the richest in species and most beautiful in the entire Engadine. Enjoy your last evening at the Hotel Castell and let yourself be pampered once again!

Hiking in the Saanenland

Hike through the most beautiful mountain landscapes of the Saanenland. From the region of La Gruyère, past the famous mountain village of Gstaad to the much-sung Lake Lauenen. Breathtaking views of majestic mountain peaks, fragrant flowers and meadows, a picnic in the warming sun and wellness & enjoyment at the end of the stage - a hiking experience in a class of its own!

ITINERARY: The unique „Gastlosen“ mountain range After a night in the Hotel Cailler in Charmey, a proper “pre-relaxation” in the “Les Bains de la Gruyère” and a hearty breakfast, you hand in your luggage at reception for onward transport and take the post bus towards Jaun. There, the chairlift will take you comfortably to the “Bärghus Gastlosen“ - the starting point of your first hiking stage. Captivated by the sight of the impressive Gastlosen mountain range - also known as the “Saanenland Dolomites” due to their striking shape - you march off in the direction of the Wolfs Ort Pass. You descend to the Mittelberg, with an optional detour to the Glaubenberghütte. Continue over the “Mittleri Schneit” to Gstaad-Schönried, where a refreshing welcome drink and a sweet „Z’vieri“ (afternoon snack) from the “Chuechetisch” are already waiting for you at the ERMITAGE Wellness and Spa Hotel. The Kornhaus, visible from afar, embodies the importance of Rorschach as one of the most important grain trading towns in southern Germany in the 18th century. Start your self-drive tour in Chur or Landquart. For a special gorge driving experience, we recommend the route from Bonaduz via Versam to Ilanz. Here you will travel high above the Rhine Gorge on a narrow road through adventurous natural rock tunnels. Use the stops next to the road to take a look down into the mighty Rhine Gorge. Following the Vorderrhein, continue on the Oberalp road to Distentis/Mustér, where you turn left into the Val Medel. Over the Lukmanier Pass you reach the sun-drenched Blenio Valley and Ticino. Charming and authentic rustico villages adorn the path through the valley. It’s not far now before you reach the historic Ticino cantonal capital of Bellinzona - probably the most Italian city in Switzerland. Time for a break and a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bellinzona’s three best-preserved medieval castles. Continuing south, Lake Maggiore is soon in sight and so is your stage destination, adorned with palm trees and classic Ticino houses: Ronco sopra Ascona. End the day on the veranda of the boutique hotel La Rocca and enjoy one of the many risotti variations from chef Antonio - Ticino Risotto Champion 2019.

After a hearty breakfast with a view of Lake Maggiore, we recommend an excursion to the Brissago Islands. Afterwards, perhaps a coffee in the Piazza Locarno before heading for the cooler Alpine regions? The next stage leads via Bellinzona, past the castles of Mesocco over the San Bernardino into the Hinterrheintal. And then it’s on via Thusis and Muldain to Lenzerheide. Relax in the largest hammam in the Swiss Alps and enjoy the mountain panorama from the brine bath at the Hotel Schweizerhof.

Over the Julier Pass into the Upper Engadine

Enjoy a gourmet breakfast at the Schweizerhof and explore the surroundings in Lenzerheide. How about a hike up the Parpaner Rothorn or a bike ride with the rentable (e-)bikes to the Parpan alpine cheese dairy. Your next ride takes you through Parc Ela, Switzerland’s largest nature park, down to Tiefencastel. Over the Julier Pass you reach the Upper Engadine. Alternative route (1h10): Through the Albula Valley past the typical Engadine villages of Filisur, Bergün, Preda, La Punt and Samedan to Celerina/ St.Moritz. In Filisur you can marvel at the landmark of the Rhaetian Railway: the Landwasser Viaduct - an elegant bridge construction with piers up to 65m high and a must for all railway enthusiasts! At the Cresta Palace Hotel you can look forward to a generous wellness area, a park with a breathtaking view of the Engadine mountain scenery and dinner with a choice of menu.

Over the Flüela Pass into Prättigau After a hearty breakfast, your last stage of the journey begins. Following the Inn River, you will reach Zernez after half an hour - the ideal starting point for an excursion into the Swiss National Park! Our hiking tip: the circular hike in Val Trupchun, the valley with the most wildlife in Switzerland - don’t forget binoculars! Continue along the Inn River to Susch, where you turn left onto the Flüela Pass road. This will take you to the Flüelapass - the highest point of your round trip, again with a breathtaking mountain panorama at the top of the pass.
