Mysore is one of the progressive Tier 2 cities of India where development is happening rapidly. According to a number of surveys being released by professional organizations across the country. Mysore regularly features in top 10 best cities to live in India. Shedding its image as a languid city renowned for being a pensioners paradise, the city has tripled its population over the past two decades. Mysore's proximity to the IT capital of India(Bangalore) has resulted in some of the latter's glow rubbing off on it. The other factors that have gone in favor of Mysore are the absence of oppressive traffic snarls, high quality of life at an affordable rate and near zero pollution. The city enjoys a status of a garden city and has a number of large parks, green features and lakes within the historic core as well as around the areas developed in the mid-80's. While CO2 of the city currently has manageable emissions at 0.94 tons/capita, the situation could be impacted if the city responds to the major developments haphazardly without a systematic and carbon critical approach towards the new development. Mysore Urban Development Authority(MUDA) is one of the largest supplier of infrastructure ready plots in Mysore. A number of such projects are designed in the past, and many more around the periphery are being implemented. MUDA identifies a site for development and plans and implements the infrastructure ready plotted neighborhoods like Vijay Nagar, R T Nagar etc.,.
