We made a few grocery trips over that holiday week—Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Jewel. Two holiday for the kids bake the cakes really jazzed them up for more fun and games. So we perused recipe books . If we were going outside, we were going outside well fed. The next week everything seemed to be melting. There was even talk of flooding. Did we need to start thinking about building an ark? Should we pull out the beachwear? No. For us, it meant more trips to the grocery store and more thinking about trying new recipes and new products we saw on the shelves. Should we watch the latest episode of “Chopped” or concentrate on tackling the new bag of Hawaiian Barbeque Chips? As we put together this issue that promises fun, outdoor entertaining options for the upcoming spring months, cool dessert toppings and great grilling products, I imagined a warm tropical breeze filled with wonderful food aromas. Some things in life you can take comfort in. I do the lot of cake recipes. All childrens like this cake recipes.one must added thing is beetroot. It benifit lot of us but we can’t understand now itsself. This is very useful to house wife. 10 ways you can use beetroot 1 .Beetroot and chocolate: Try a brownie recipe with both the ingredients and you will be amazed! In the brownie, the cocoa almost entirely overwhelms the beetroot flavour, leaving a hint of its earthiness. 2. Beetroot and coconut: Try making a samosa with diced beetroot and grated coconut- season it with mustard seeds, curry leaves, cumin and chili. Use a little potato to bind the mix. And if this is not enough, make a soup with coconut milk and add beetroot to the same. 3. Beetroot and chickpeas: Combine the same with some cumin for a great dip! Hummus with a twist! 4. Beetroot and dill: Make a cold beetroot soup, thin it with some sour cream or just plain cream, add grated cucumber, more grated beetroot, some eggs if you want and dill! Chill and serve with boiled potatoes tossed with a dill dressing! 6

7. Beetroot and potato: They make a very pink mash that is both sweet and earthy!
A quick Beetroot Risotto recipe Soften a finely chopped small onion in olive oil, and then add 150 Gms risotto rice, stirring until the grains are coated in oil.
• Add a small glass of white wine and cook until it’s all evaporated. • Mix in 250 gms of finely diced or grated cooked beetroot and then add 750 ml of hot vegetable stock, one ladle at a time, stirring constantly , until the rice is cooked to your liking. • Add a few tablespoons of finely-grated parmesan and some seasoning. • Serve topped with a scattering of goat cheese and parsley leaves! 6. Beetroot and watercress: The love of rustic, rosy beetroot for outspoken
8. Beetroot and onion: Combine them in chutney and make egg sandwiches! Chutney: Cook some onions, apples in red wine vinegar until tender and add some beetroot sugar, salt and some ginger. Cook for about an hour till they have a chutney-like consistency! 9.Beetroot and Apple:Both with a walnut-based dressing - delicious by itself or as a side with fish! 10. Beetroot and orange: Healthy and lovely in a juice together. Garnish with mint! An unlikely sort of vegetable: dense, bluntly sweet, needs two hours’ boiling, with more than a hint of the garden shed in its flavours and a habit of bleeding over everything! HOW TO PREAPARE AND COOK FOOD SAFELY Studies show that the kitchen contains the most germs in the home.
One found that the kitchen sink contains 100,000 times more germs than the bathroom. Germs such as E. coli, campylobacter and salmonella enter the kitchen on our hands, raw food and through our pets. If food isn’t cooked, stored and handled correctly, people can become ill with food poisoning, colds, flu and other conditions.
Washing hands
Our hands are one of the main ways germs are
spread, so it’s important to wash them thoroughly with soap and warm water before cooking, after touching the bin, going to the toilet, and after touching raw food. . This includes other food, worktops, tables, chopping boards and knives. “Lots of people think they should wash raw chicken, but there’s no need,” says food hygiene expert Adam Hardgrave. “Any germs on it will be killed if you cook it thoroughly. Take particular care to keep raw food away from ready-to-eat foods such as bread, salad and fruit. These foods won’t be cooked before you eat them so any germs that get on to them won’t be killed. “Use different chopping boards for raw and readyto-eat foods,” says Hardgrave. When storing raw meat, always keep it in a clean, sealed container and place it on the bottom shelf of the fridge, where it can’t touch or drip on to other foods. Cooking

ooking food at the right temperature will ensure that any harmful bacteria are killed. Check that food is piping hot throughout before you eat it. When cooking burgers, sausages, chicken and pork, cut into the middle to check that the meat is no longer pink, the juices run clear and it’s piping hot (steam is coming out). When cooking a whole chicken or other bird, pierce the thickest part of the leg (between the drumstick and the thigh) to check that there is no pink meat and that the juices are no longer pink or red. Pork joints and rolled joints shouldn’t be eaten pink or rare. To check when these types of joint are ready to eat, put a skewer into the centre of the meat and check that there is no pink meat and the juices run clear. It’s safe to serve steak and other whole cuts of beef and lamb rare (not cooked in the middle) or blue (seared on the outside) as long as they have been properly sealed (cooked quickly at a high temperature on the outside only) to kill any bacteria on the meat’s surface. If you’ve cooked food that you’re not going to eat immediately, cool it at room temperature (ideally within 90 minutes) and store it in the fridge. Hardgrave’s advice is to store food in the fridge below 5°C (41°F). “If your fridge has an internal freezer compartment that is iced up, the fridge could struggle to maintain its temperature,” he says.
8 Fast, Healthy Breakfast Ideas
Morning Pizza
You could have a slice of last night’s pizza (it’s preferable to filling up on sugar or skipping breakfast). Or you could try a more sophisticated spin: Take a slice of crusty bread, spread it with 3 tablespoons of low-fat ricotta, and add tomatoes. Increase the fiber and vitamins by adding ¼ cup of nuts or fresh or dried fruit, such as chopped pecans or blueberries.
Fruit and Cheese
Peanut Butter Waffle
A balanced, easy-toassemble make-ahead morning meal: Grab an apple, wrap 1 to 2 ounces of Cheddar in plastic, and toss ¼ cup of fiber- and protein-rich walnuts into a resealable plastic bag.
Instead of dousing a wholegrain or bran toaster waffle in syrup, cut the sugar and boost the protein and fiber by spreading it with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. You can also sprinkle on 1 tablespoon of raisins, sesame seeds, or extra peanuts for even more fiber, which helps deliver the meal’s nutrients slowly and steadily.
Egg McMuffin
Yes, you read that right. If you must eat fast food in the morning, get an Egg McMuffin at McDonald’s. At 300 calories, it’s not an outrageous meal. Plus it has a good amount of lean protein from the egg and the Canadian bacon. To trim empty calories, remove the top half of the muffin. For additional Plain Doughnut With fiber, add a fresh orange.
chocolate Milk
A plain cake-style doughnut is usually a better choice than a bakery muffin. At Dunkin’ Donuts, for instance, an old-fashioned doughnut has 280 calories, while a corn muffin has 510 calories. Add fiber by eating ¼ cup of almonds Strawberry Shake or dried fruit. In a small bowl mix the egg yolks with the yogurt. 4. In another bowl sift the flour with baking powder and salt. 5. When the chocolate mixture is cooled, put it into a mixing bowl with the paddle attachment on beat in the egg yolk mixture followed by the flour. Remove the bowl from the mixer and with a spatula slowly fold in the whipped egg whites. 7.
