GRAPHIC DESIGN | ILLUSTRATION | ARCHITECTURE
Hello, my name is Priyanka Poulose and I am a Mumbai based designer, illustrator and architect. Until April of this year, I was working as an architect with Studio 8:23, Mumbai when I finally decided to take a leap into the field of graphic design and illustration, something that I had been wanting to do since my inital years studying architecture at the K.R.V.I.A. While my work since then has been entirely freelance, I am now hoping to gain professional experience with a graphic design studio where I can apply my experience in 3 dimensional spaces coupled with my graphical and illustrative design aesthetic. With graphic design no longer being just a 2 dimensional visual medium, I do believe that my career as an architect has enabled me to imagine, develop and execute projects from 2D & 3D drawings to actual, breathing spaces, a skill that I know would bring great value to any design studio. I have a strong passion for art and design, something that I hope reflects in my body of work.

Cinema City Co-design of a poster on Censorship Laws in India for the Cinema City Exhibit, a project of Majlis, in collaboration with Design Cell, K.R.V.I.A (Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute of Architecture)
Project Cinema City is a set of enquiries into the labour, imagination, desire, access, spaces, locations, iconization, materiality, languages, migrant peoples, viewing conventions, and hidden processes that create the cinemas the city makes, and also the cities its cinema produces. The enquiries are then processed into productions of text, film, art and cartography. The multi-disciplinary research work, produced outputs and all the residuals together form a cinema city archive that is transient and open-ended – to facilitate further readings, more works.

Year V Architectural Thesis A graphical panel I created to illustrate the concept and idea behind my final year architectural thesis project titled ‘Public Art: Tracing the expressions of community memory and space bound identity, A case for Ranwar Gaothan. With the information gathered through studies and analysis of the site, throughout the duration of the project, I used infographics, diagrams, 3d models, maps and hand illustrations to convey the same.
My Final Year Architectural Thesis Project begun as an investigation into the various manifestations of Public Art, paticularly in the city of Mumbai. Through observing and critiquing public artworks in the city and aroud the world, a document was created charting out the different associations, if any, these artworks had with their immediate surroundings and with the city as a whole. It was realised that public art practices acquire a whole new meaning when observed within communities. The public art generated by a community is largely in the form of its social and cultural activities. These activities become markers of a particular community identity. The aim of the thesis was to uncover these markers for the site of Ranwar Gaothan in Bandra and to facilitate their manifestation in the form of larger architectural and spacial ideas so as to create stronger identities for forgotten communitities within the city.

Exhibition
Making a House Mumbai
As part of the core team for this exhibition, I was reponsible for making the majority of the detailed scaled balsa wood models alongwith their presentation & layout in the exhibition space as well as the planning, development and construction of the summer pavilion on site, executed in complex plywood joineries and L-angled cardboard sections, using metal nuts and bolts.
Making a House, was an exhibition presented by architect Samir Raut of Studio Eight Twentythree, Mumbai at the School of Environment and Architecture (SEA) in Borivali, between April & May, 2017. It explored the possibility of architectural transformation through prototyping iterations. Further, he presented scaled models and drawings of a select ‘small houses’ from across the world that inform his practice. The work celebrated craftsmanship, miniature and details as fundamental to experiencing joy in practising architecture. 76
