Mountain Architecture
Supervisor: Ar. Jharna Joshi, Ar. Shirish Bhatt
A thorough study of vernacular architectural practices in Dapcha was the basis of the design of the building. Fieldwork and research in the region and surrounding provinces gave an insight into the local materials, techniques and building typologies.
These findings were applied, updated, reinterpreted and framed within the local know-how and traditions of Dapcha, Chattrebajh. Intercultural dialogue and participatory processes were used in this project.
The project offers good opportunities for knowledge transfer between the local workers and design team.
The proposed secondary school in rural Nepal represents a sustainable and affordable approach to education. By incorporating local materials such as ceb and mud, along with traditional Nepali architectural elements, the school will blend seamlessly with the local culture while minimizing its environmental impact.
This commitment to sustainability and safety underscores the school’s mission to provide high-quality education to the children of rural Nepal.
remebering correa.
Location:
The memorial is a tribute to the late architect Charles Correa, honoring his lifelong accomplishments.
Situated near the river and surrounded by nature, the building’s design, style, materials, and color palette pay homage to Correa’s unique design principles. Walking through the site, visitors can experience the various architectural styles and ideas that Correa was known for.
Upon entering the building, visitors are greeted by a stunning foyer where natural light and shadows playfully interact. The skylight illuminates the space, casting soft shadows along the walls and floors, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

“certainly architecture is concerned with much more than just its physical attributes. It is a many-layered thing. beneath and beyond the strata of function and structure, materials and texture, lie the deepest and most compulsive layers of all.”

Landscape Design
Supervisor: Ar. Prajal Pradhan
Located at the riverfronts of Lalitpur, the concept of the park revolves around the idea of importance of wilderness in terms of play and growth in children. Through exposure to wilder nature, the design helps in development of children’s cognitive skills as well as develop a sense of stewardship over the environment that they grow up playing in.
The design consists of mainly four types of play: climbing, sliding, crossing (tunnel) and spinning. The plays are provided to the children in natural forms through changes in terrain whilst also taking into account the need for providing open ended play areas for in order to enhance their imaginative skills.

Featuring a “Modern Tropical” architectural style for the inteior of the master bedroom, a calming color palette inspired by the lush greenery of tropical forests, combined with natural textures like rattan and wood, create a cohesive and inviting space.
This space blends natural textures with modern elements to create a functional and aesthetic sanctuary. Here, the ambient and task lighting creates warmth and depth.
The result is a cohesive and inviting space that offers the perfect escape for anyone seeking a natural and tranquil environment.
“Architectural responses need to move beyond built response to create a dialogue with the larger landscape.”

When designing a modern tropical bedroom, natural materials like wood, rattan, and bamboo were carefully chosen for a warm and inviting atmosphere, while a color palette reminiscent of tropical regions creates a relaxing environment.
Large windows let in natural light for seamless indoor-outdoor flow, and breathable natural fibers such as cotton, linen, and silk were used for bedding, curtains, and rugs. Unique decorative accents add a personal touch to the space.

As part of our coursework, we were given the assignment to produce furniture that harmonized with the selected interior design style. For my part, I fashioned furniture pieces that embodied the modern tropical interior style. These were made from strong and durable hardwood, boasting a sleek and unobtrusive design that combined both functionality and aesthetic appeal.

Architectural Drawing and Graphics IV
Supervisor: Ar. Suvechha Tandan, Ar. Aakash Bhochhibhoya
The Bhajan Ghar, a wooden and brick edifice situated in Layaku, comprises two primary components - the Bhajan Ghar itself and the Hiti. These structures were erected during the reign of the Lichhavis between 679-879 AD. The Bhajan Ghar holds great importance for the community.
The aforementioned religious structure serves as an architectural representation of the early stages of development during the Lichhavi period. In spite of its current function as a storage space, the Bhajan Griha held substantial significance during its formative years. It served as a pivotal social space, where individuals would convene to partake in devotional song recitals.
